Demi Lovato bio is wrong.

On "Demi Lovato's wikiepedia" they forget to write that she also makes ballades and soul muisic, and they forgot to write that she also play the key board and the drums. Plus they could write that she is a very, very skilled musician. They didn't write about her best friend either. They write that her and Selena Gomez was best friends, but Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato was beat friends too. And i think they should change the picture of her in the box, cause she don't look like that more, and she was sick at that time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KoMoNi (talkcontribs) 01:31, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Most of that stuff is trivial. As for the picture, we can update it, but it must fall under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines. --– Confession0791 talk 02:10, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Demi was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico

She wasn't born in Dallas, TX, she was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico! She just raised in Dallas. Please, change it, it's an important thing!. Thanks --Iamlovatic (talk) 06:23, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Why is Demi Lovato's "music influences", "personal life" and "philanthropy" section gone?

I noticed that Demi Lovato's Wikipedia page is getting smaller and smaller. The reason could be the her "music influences", "personal life" and "philanthropy" section is gone. Why is it not there anymore? Also her "treatment center stint" section is shortened and has been placed in the section "2009–10: Here We Go Again, Camp Rock 2 and personal struggles". Also the section about her relationships with Trace Cyrus and Joe Jonas is gone. Why is her Wikipedia page getting shorter? I think it should be expanded so that when someone researches about her, they can get a whole lot of information about her.

P.S.: (This is a suggestion to be put in her Wikipedia page) There is also a recent interview about her past times (located in the Seventeen Magazine February issue) when she was "self-medicating". This is what she said: "I'm not gonna lie. I was self-medicating. I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain,". And that now after her treatment, she is now "healthy" saying that “I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, I don’t throw up after my meals, I don’t starve myself. There’s nothing that I do that I feel ashamed of.” I think you can find out more at the Seventeen Magazine website.125.237.122.233 (talk) 01:45, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello? Any reply? Anyway, here is another very reliable source:

Main article: List of awards and nominations received by Demi Lovato

Hi Wikipedia! Can you please create a page that says: "Main article: List of awards and nominations received by Demi Lovato" because she has so many awards and nominations and it is too long for her Wikipedia page.

PLEASE REPLY WIKIPEDIA!!! 125.237.122.233 (talk) 01:45, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Oh sorry about that...I thought you will never reply so I put it in capital letters...maybe I was being impatient. Can I ask: How do you provide "reliable sources" when you want to create an "awards and nominations" page/article? 125.237.122.233 (talk) 08:01, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Should Demi Lovato be put under the category American sopranos?

Wikipedia,Can you also put a "Voice" Section on Demi Lovato's Page.. Demi must Have One,Because she has a wide range too.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.190.19.233 (talk) 20:24, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Do you think we should put Demi under the category American sopranos? She's got quite a high range. --Geekboy6 (talk) 07:48, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

She's got a High, high Range... Put Her in the list of sopranos in non-classical Music!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.190.19.233 (talk) 20:22, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

I agree. She does have a high vocal range. Her vocal range is just the same as Kelly Clarkson. At first, she used to be a mezzo-soprano because her voice hasn't matured yet. But now when her voice matured, she can now be categorized as possessing the vocal range of a soprano. Streamerlovesmusic (talk) 02:43, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

I did some research, trying to find people's opinion about her vocal range. Some said she has a "mezzo-soprano" vocal range, some say she has an "alto" range, some say she has a "lyrical soprano" vocal range. We should decide first what Demi's REAL vocal range should be. THEN we can put it to what Demi's real vocal range is. We should also create a "vocal ability" section in Demi's article. (That was just a suggestion.) 203.97.167.3 (talk) 09:46, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Wait. That's still going on? Why in the world would they take off Lovato's signature? There were a lot of things removed from Lovato's article and I worked so hard getting them back and now the signature? Lovato's signature should still remain there. Also for The X Factor, it wasn't confirmed yet. It was reported, but for it to be put in Lovato's article, it has to be confirmed. I'm sorry, I was the one who put that she was a judge in The X Factor. If it was confirmed, I (or other people) will be updating it. Are you alright with it? Streamerlovesmusic (talk) 11:09, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

New design

I have changed the design of the page based on Hilary Duff's page, as the two are very similar in the sense they are both Disney singers and actresses. The page was very confusing and frustrating to read before, and I feel this way looks much neater and easier to comprehend. I've also updated the picture, as the other one was from 2009. Does anyone have a problem with the way I have designed the page?

There's no problem, but there was mistakes Streamerlovesmusic fixed and they also fixed on how you designed the sections. Thank you for changing the design. 203.97.167.3 (talk) 03:26, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Just my two cents, but I don't believe in splitting acting and music. It would make sense in Duff's case, but for Lovato, much of her music output are actually soundtracks to her movies, the splitting of sections makes it even more confusing and leads to overlaps and repeated mentions of the same things.Fixer23 (talk) 02:45, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi! I just wanted to ask for one little thing: The "Demi Lovato Summer Tour 2012" part of her career should be in the 2012 section, not the 2010-11 section. Thanks! 186.52.143.133 (talk) 15:08, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Here are close-up versions of my photos from her concert. I think she looks amazing in the one titled "beautiful eyes" but if you cannot use that one because too much of her face is covered then you can use the one of her smiling. (I would think it would be fine though because Taylor Swift's picture is one with her mouth covered partially by the microphone.) The best caption to describe either of these pictures would probably be "Demi Lovato performing in Springfield, IL on her Summer Tour 2012."

Vocal detail not noted?

This is about Demi Lovato's vocals. Why is it that this singer's singing isn't yet given recognition? It's already out there that this singer fits in with the likes of Whitney Houston and Leona Lewis, a mezzo-soprano singer. At least make some way to get this recognized so that this shows more interest and tradition in her artistry. This is just not some average artist. 66.233.135.192 (talk) 16:48, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Bias

I've noticed a bias against English-Americans in many Wikipedia articles, including this one. In her bio, 'Italian American' 'Irish American' and 'Mexican American' are all linked to their respective page. 'English' isn't - it looks like an afterthought. And in the links at the bottom of the page, 'American People of English Descent' is missing. Why the omission? I have tried to correct this before on Wiki (only on pages with correct references) and had my contributions deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bassmaster86 (talkcontribs) 19:19, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

It would appear from genealogy that Demi Lovato is half Mexican and half Anglo-Saxon. Her father's family were Mexicans who lived in New Mexico for many generations. Her mother is of Anglo-Saxon stock from Texas. I don't know where the Irish and Italian come in - maybe Lovato thinks "Lovato" is an Italian surname? It could be, but there are many "Lovato" families that are simply Spanish. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 06:28, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

'Notoriety' always carries a negative connotation

She wrote the song "For the Love of a Daughter" about her estranged father. According to Fabulous Magazine UK, the song is about the rift between Lovato and her father after he - seemingly keen to cash in on his daughter's notoriety

Here "notoriety" should be changed to "fame."

So yeah it was me.. I changed the picture because you can better see her face on the one from 2009. I know she has changed and I wish there was a more recent picture of her but there isn't at the moment. The one you put is just a year less old so that barely doesn't change anything! --Sofffie7 (talk) 17:16, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Sofffie7: I contacted the guys that run Demi's website (http://www.freshwunder.com/), asking them for a newer photo that also met your standards of being a full-face shot. If they upload something, please don't remove it. I can't think of anyone (short of Demi herself, and she has better things to do) that would be more authorized to post an appropriate main pic for Demi. Is there anywhere they can contact you directly to give the pic to you for posting? You can drop me a line at: mpatty[at sign]sharetrails.org, or tweet me ([at sign]michael_f_patty). Thanks for your understanding. Like most lovatics, I'd REALLY like a more recent picture of her in the main pic area. Something that showcases her inner beauty and health the way it is now, instead of the painful beauty of her teen-star days. I wouldn't trade those for anything...but the main pic (top right) should be as modern as possible in my view. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michael Patty (talkcontribs) 15:32, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Sofffie7 - Addendum: I DO like the shot you used on the main pic. I just don't think it's appropriate right there. If we can get something newer that meets your standards, maybe you could post the current picture somewhere appropriate in the body of the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michael Patty (talkcontribs) 15:47, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

I wonder if those guys really care about wikipedia to give a picture away but it's worth the try ;) Last year, when I asked why there wasn't a picture on someone's page, I was told that either you make the picture yourself and put it on Wikimedia Commons or you find one that is not copyrighted on websites such as flicker. Maybe we should look there? I'm ok to send you an e-mail but wouldn't be easier if they contact you and then you put the picture on Wikimedia Commons? I know new contributors can't edit on this page here but I think any contributor can add a picture on Commons... I'm saying this because I don't really know how Commons works... ^^ And finally, I do agree to place the current picture somewhere else in the article once we have a good recent one for the infobox. --Sofffie7 (talk) 22:31, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

UPDATE: Hey Sofffie7, Micheal Pattty and Streamerlovesmusic, I don't know if you know but actually there are pictures of Lovato on Wikimedia Commons section "An Evening with Demi Lovato", which were taken in September 2011 and appeared freely on Flickr. You might find there what you're looking for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.201.45.228 (talk) 23:20, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

A CONCERN: One concern I have now, after considering the matter, is that Demi's Facebook page still uses the same picture as the wikipedia photo (the 2009 one). She controls THAT page directly (or, more accurately, someone does it for her). This MAY indicate a desire on her part to keep using that pic, for now. I am not sure where the official policy of Wikipedia stands on which takes priority (accuracy and timeliness vs. the wishes of the person being described), but I am inclined (as a Demi fan) to let it be if that's what she prefers. Sadly, there's no way to know for sure. She's WAY to busy to follow things like our discussion here, much as we love her. :) What do you guys think? comment added by Michael Patty (talkcontribs) 11:59, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

AN UPDATE PLEASE: Could someone change the picture and put a more recent one, Demi has a lot of new things going on (X factor's judge rumor, summer tour...) so it would be nice if we could see an updated picture of Demi so people who don't know her will be introduced to Demi Lovato and what she looks like in 2012. Here's a really cool picture you could put: http://www.mtv.com/onair/new_years_eve/2012/photos/flipbooks/show-highlights/demi-lovato-STC_5878.jpg . Can you stop switching the images, because every time I look at this page the picture's different. This is from 2009 and needs to be updated, besides...she really doesn't look that pretty in this picture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.190.156 (talk) 22:07, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Edit warring over image in infobox

The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was File:Demi Lovato 2, (Cropped).jpg

Analysis: I see a preference for an unobscured face (but second choice partially-obscured concert-shot) with an overriding preference for recognizeable and preference for somewhat recent (but no consensus for "most recent"). By concept, that leaves us with Option B among the original six, with Picture 2 an improved version of it, and that one is also specifically mentioned as among the choices of many commenters. Thank you to all who participated here! Hopefully this dispute can be set aside and everyone can get back to the primary goal of wikipedia: writing an encyclopedia of information. DMacks (talk) 05:29, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

There's a slow-motion edit war going on right now over the image in the infobox, and discussion seems to have gone stagnant. Edit summaries are not an acceptable form of discussion; they are only for describing your change to make the history easier to browse, or for including a brief rationale for non-controversial changes (we are well past the point of calling this non-controversial). Everyone should have a read of Wikipedia:Edit warring, which has some helpful tips for how to solve the problem here instead of escalating it. As a newcomer to this page, I'm going to try to start some discussion back up here. This is a gallery of the six images that have been used or suggested for the infobox (i.e., the first picture in the article) in the last week or so alone:

If anyone wants to add another choice feel free; if you are opposed to some of them, please explain why. If you support some of them, please say so as well. It would also be a very good thing if you based your decision off of the relevant style guideline, which is at Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Images#Images for the lead. BigNate37(T) 20:28, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

  • I like options B and C the most (with no preference between the two). They are better pictures in my opinion, and either of them satisfy the MOS as natural, appropriate, identifiable images. Option A is alright, although to me her expression makes her a little less immediately recognizable. Option F is okay, but I would prefer it to be lower down in the article somewhere, rather than in the lead. I am opposed to options D and E, though, since her expression is a little weird in both of those. BigNate37(T) 20:36, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
    • Update: M.Sunshine's Picture 2 below is preferable to option B, as it's a better version of the same photo. BigNate37(T) 19:43, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Administrator comment: I have been asked to help resolve this image dispute. I have not previously been involved in the changing images or discussion thereof. I'm not going to express an opinion, but will monitor this discussion for the next three days and try to determine WP:CONSENSUS the reasoned opinions posted in this section among the above 6 choices or another specific one you list. In the mean time, I have fully protected the article to quench the simultaneous edit-warring, so there is no need to discuss the article's current state or editors' behavior related to that. This is not a vote, so I recommend giving a brief rationale for how your preference (or antipreference) enhances the article by usual Wikipedia standards. Images that are not free-licensed will be rejected out-of-hand by policy (and deleted). Participants note that images that are not the consensus could still be used elsewhere in the article (images from a specific event, tour, or time-frame in the section about that entity). In addition, all images should be placed in Category:Demi Lovato, and then the cat itself will be linked in the ext-links section (using {{commons category}}) as usual for this sort of content-collection. DMacks (talk) 01:43, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I see this is the best two images of Demi Lovato in Wikimedia Commons, in terms of size and colors modified. Look:
Let's see in the Picture 2, was used in the List of awards and nominations received by Demi Lovato. They are the best so far. And What is everyone's opinion ? --M.Sunshine (talk) 17:16, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Hahaha I think Picture 2 wins here...we don't want a picture of Lovato frowning do we? 203.97.167.3 (talk) 07:41, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
  • The lead image should show the face and not be blocked by a microphone. Assuming licensing is not in question, A, B and D are acceptable. A was the lead image for a long time and I think it should be used in the article somewhere. Many articles are now subject to frequent image changes as people think they need to be "updated". One solution to these frequent changes is to simply make the lead image a random selection among alternatives (which could include images elsewhere in the article.) Gimmetoo (talk) 14:35, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Yeah I agree. Lovato's lead image should not have a microphone in front of her face, as it blocks her full image of her face and will be hard/er to recognize. I also agree that Picture 2 (in my opinion) is my pick, as she is smiling and her facial expression is easily recognizable. Plus it's not copyrighted. There was a photo of her in the 2012 Teen Choice Awards of her facing the camera and smiling but the problem is, her hair is tied up and that wouldn't be recognizable as well. But if it's fine for you guys then do anything you want really... Streamerlovesmusic (talk) 07:21, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Wow it's been a while since I give this page and it "amazes" that people are still discussing over the infobox picture. My inital reasoning was that it was better to have an image of her where you see a clear face so picture A, B or D would fit, while picture C, E, and F wouldn't fit this criteria. The problem other users/IPs raised raised is that neither A nor B are recent and when I look at Taylor Swift's page, the infobox picture used is one of her holding a mic, which is at the same time recent. So if you want the most recent one than it's either C or F (on E her face is really blocked by the mic). In terms of quality, A, B and D are certainly OK but I'm not sure for those of her in concerts.. However, if the choice ends up to be between those 2 pictures then the recentness shouldn't be taken into account because they are from the same year. --Sofffie7 (talk) 14:14, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Hey everyone! I found a picture that -in my opinion- would fit perfectly in the infobox. We can clearly see her face, and it's from 2011. If you agree or disagree, say so, and if a lot of people agree, feel free to upload it. Thanks! 190.135.46.16 (talk) 15:23, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello again, I've replaced the picture with best picture. For it is better than the old version. Regards. --M.Sunshine (talk) 00:50, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Section merging suggestion

To give the article a bit more flow, I suggest that the acting and music career sections be merged and reorganized into one general career section with appropriate subheads within. Her role on The X Factor could be moved from the "Other ventures" section into the main career section, and philanthropy can be given its own section. Any suggestions? 75.130.102.69 (talk) 20:49, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Weight

Is it really necessary to have her weight/height statistics on the 'early life' section? I haven't seen these in many other posts about people with eating disorders, and they can be very triggering to recovering ED sufferers. It doesn't add anything to the article, and I think they are not needed. It would be great if we could find a way to frame this section in a way that doesn't need it.

I know that you can go to the source and read the statistics there, but I do think the section would be better off without it.

I don't see the copyvio on this image. I can't find it on Getty Images, picture taken with non-pro CanonPowerShot SX130 IS, relatively poor quality that would embarrass any pro. Licenced CC BY 2.0. Does the flickr user have a history of copyright violations? Anyway looks OK to me. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:09, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
On flickr, it's listed as "request to license via getty" or some similar terminology". DMacks (talk) 01:31, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Request to license photos via Getty Images looks like a service Getty provides to anyone who would like to sell photos, not just stuff on Getty Images already. I've seen this before on Flickr, I don't think it means the flickr account is hosting copyvio images. --Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:55, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
That info asserts that one needs to contact getty to get permission to use/license (with getty acting as the agent, as you describe, rather than owning), not just as a storage/printing service. If it requires getting permission and/or paying to use, it's not free. DMacks (talk) 02:04, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Not on Flickr. It's a standard link to a standard service, and Flickr isn't smart enough to suppress it for images that are aleady available via CC-BY-SA. I tend to agree the picture is free. New album - 2013

Could we make a new subpage for her album since it only redirects to her main wikipedia page. She confirmed that it will be called DEMI on her @ddlovato official page on twitter (LINK), released official cover artwork of it in the same post and also confirmed the release date on Twitter. The pre-order will be available on April 2nd in the US and Canada and April 9th worldwide according to description of her official album trailer. We can put Heart Attack as a debut single since we have enough information for it. For the description of the album we can quote her official Heart Attack single - "...These are songs about the celebration of life and how rewarding it can be. This is what this album is about."

I would recommend this picture to be the main picture because it's the largest I found on google image search. And it's the album cover so it would make sense.

If you have one of those other sites that actually says she plays the drums, or puts the "learning to" into a specific context (such as "In order to play the role of Gina Schock she is learning to play the drums") it can be added, otherwise it is just trivia. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:31, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

  • I apologize. But on a second readthrough, I am realizing the you have no critical commentary on any of her roles, performances, songs or albums. Without critical commentary, this is really just a proselized discography and filmography. The whole career section needs expansion in this regard. Although most of her awards are teen pop stuff there must be some critical analysis of her performances available in the PD. More recent picture??

Shouldn't the main picture be updated? I'm sure here will be a lot of new recent pictures of her by now. Reasons: 1) The picture is of 2009. It's 2013 now, more than 4 years after it! 2) She's changed since that picture. She's become healthier, more confident and isn't broken like she was at that time. The picture should portray how she is currently. 3) It's not a very flattering picture of her, is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikhailcazi (talkcontribs) 13:21, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Bipolar disorder type distinction

I guess this is an edit request...but there is a distinction between bipolar disorder I (which is the 'classic' form and is normally just called bipolar disorder) and bipolar disorder II which normally has II at the end of it. Bipolar II is what Demi has so I think the distinction should be made here? In her MTV documentary when she talks about bipolar and it shows flashes from the DSM, it highlights 'bipolar II' as well and makes this distinction here.Moped1234 (talk) 00:27, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Veggietalesisthenewcool (talk) 00:52, 30 September 2013 (UTC) Add her 2 year on and off again relationship with Wilmer Valderrama, change the front picture of her and then, finally, mention her role on glee. Politically, she is a registered democrat who supports gay rights. She is, however, a supporter (at least friendly mention) of George W. Bush.

The article describes her as an active supporter of gay rights so she should go into the lgbt rights category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.41.64.71 (talk) 20:42, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Glee

Perhaps the below could change to say she plays the love interest to the Santana Lopez character. Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/04/glee-demi-lovato-santana-love-interest_n_4041348.html

On August 22, it was announced that Lovato had signed on to appear in at least 6 episodes of the fifth season of Glee. Lovato will reportedly play a struggling New York-based artist named Dani who befriends Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) and also interacts with fellow newcomer Adam Lambert's character. Lovato will reportedly make her debut during the second episode of the season, which is scheduled to air on October 3.[120][121] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Montavillian (talkcontribs) 21:18, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

NEW PICTURE

Wikipedia replaced the last picture with a picture just as old. Please update the pic as Demi is years older now and looks so much different. At the time, it was the best image available (you can read the extensive discussion in this talk-page's archives leading to a WP:CONSENSUS to use the one there now). Unless you own a better one (took with your camera and donate via an open license), there are no others available that were not considered during that discussion. DMacks (talk) 13:59, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

There is a recent picture now, taken last month. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 23:55, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
I undid that change. There was an extensive discussion with WP:CONSENSUS to use the image that was there. You'll certainly need a new discussion to get a new consensus, not a random editor doing it by fiat. DMacks (talk) 01:12, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
It doesn't make sense to have such an outdated picture now, though. Why would people debate over having it in the article? XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 01:19, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Consensus can change, and there are ways to do that, but WP:CONSENSUS is one of the 5 most basic policies of Wikipedia. As a start, one could dispute that having the "most recent" image is a key concern, or complain that having an image with product-placement or banner logos in the background is inappropriate. I'm not taking that position for now, merely demonstrating that you are not correct about your opinion trumping policy. DMacks (talk) 01:27, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
I never said it "trumped" anything, I was simply supporting the use of the new pic on behalf of its uploader. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 01:29, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Consensus for a new picture

18 months ago there was a consensus to use the image File:Demi Lovato 2, (Cropped).jpg. The reason why it was created it was because of the constant edit-war over the image. At that time this image was probably the best alternative. Now there is a new image File:Redlight Traffics Inaugural Dignity Gala (10359162853).jpg. I generally don't like the change of image when a new one appears, but the new image is a better proposal than the current image. It has a better quality (3,000 pixels v. 1000) and Lovato's face is more visible and recognizable. As creator of this subsection, I support the recent image to replace the current image. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 01:23, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

I support using this new picture as well XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 01:25, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Weak Support: It's not my all-time favorite photo, but it's sharper than the old one, and the logo probably isn't any worse than what looks like someone's shoulder in the foreground of the older one. No objections to using the replacement until something better (like with a background color that doesn't blend into her hair) comes along. Fat&Happy (talk) 01:43, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
If there are no objections to using this new photo, how many more "support" votes are needed for it to pass? XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 18:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Wikipedia consensus is not an election (WP:NOTDEMOCRACY), if no one complains in a week it can be replaced (in my opinion). © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 02:04, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
The image is recent and of good quality, so why not? I don't know if the license is correct, if not someone else should improve it; I'm not an expert in that field. --Sofffie7 (talk) 11:53, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Glee photos and expanded Glee entry

There's a nice X-Factor pic of Demi (2012–present: The X Factor, Demi, and return to acting), but there are no Glee photos. I'd like to suggest adding at least one photo from her work on Glee, as this is a rather huge step in her career (her return to acting). Also, the segment about her work on Glee is kind of short. Can we expand it?

Otherwise, this is a GREAT page!

Can we put something about the book that she wrote entitled "Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year" which was released on November 19th, 2013? Also, seeing as how she wrote a book, can we also add "author" to the list of occupations? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamhaleyiam (talkcontribs) 20:23, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

It would be too soon to list her as an author since it so far is her only book. Wait until she releases more before adding such a description. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 23:44, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Heritage

Demi Lovato was born to a Mexican-American father and a mother of British Isles descent. This is pretty obvious from lengthy descriptions here and elsewhere. Given contardictory statements such as this, I think the article should simply state exactly that: Mexican-American father and British Isles-American mother. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:14, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

It turns out EthniCelebs is not a reliable source, but I've added the ethnic categories that tweet provided. Not sure what her mother's ethnicity is..... XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 05:22, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
I suppose you could say ethnicelebs technically isn't a reliable source, but it's obviously accurate (and IMDB says the same thing): her paternal grandparents were New Mexicans of Mexican (Spanish and Native American, I guess) descent, and her mother is clearly of British Isles descent (the surnames on her line include Smith, Snodgrass, Emmons, Davlin, and so on). This stuff like Portuguese and Italian is just bells and whistles, probably stemming from confusion about the origin of the surname "Lovato" (which just goes back to Hispanics in New Mexico for many generations). All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:25, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
IMDb is not a reliable source either. However, we could possibly use some of the links EthniCelebs provided to learn about her mother's ethnicity. I was quite surprised myself to find EthniCelebs isn't reliable. "Hart" does have an English vibe, so I wouldn't be surprised if she has English ancestry. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk)
Yes, IMDB isn't reliable either, but it is accurate in this case. "Hart" is not her mother's maiden name, though. It is the surname of her mother's stepfather, the Rev. Perry Eugene Hart (see here - #37, and then here - #44). Her mother was born Dianna Lee Smith. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:36, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Smith is a very English name as well. However, there is a chance that could've been anglicized from something else or had some other completely different non-English name. Demi definitely has Mexican and Spanish ancestry through Patrick, though let's look further into Dianna's.
Well, as ethnicelebs and that familytreemaker link state, "Demi’s maternal grandparents were Donald Lee Smith (the son of Hugh Smith and June Snodgrass) and Sue Dianne Emmons (the daughter of Aaron Jefferson Emmons and Patty Marie Davlin)." All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:41, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
I've added the mention of Dianna's birth last name being "Smith", though those links don't provide much of their ethnic origins. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 05:48, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Associated Acts

In case the criteria hadn't been made specific enough, an associated act can be any of the following:

  • A frequent collaborator (not counting songwriters or producers) and/or have collaborated at least several times. Examples include Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez.
  • A group or band one was part of. Examples include Jim Morrison from The Doors.
  • Someone with which one has made a collaborative album. Examples include Jay-Z and Kanye West.

With this being said, only the Jonas Brothers would really constitute an associated act for Demi. Hope this helps. Snuggums (talk / edits) 05:05, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
