The subject does not meet WP:NACTOR. No evidence indicating significant roles in notable films, TV dramas, etc. Merely being in a film or TV drama does not make one Inherently notable. A quick Google search doesn't yield anything either which can meet WP:GNG either. —Saqib (talk I contribs) 16:49, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stub on a minor badminton player that doesn't meet WP:NBAD and shows no sign of WP:GNG. He has no significant achievements on BWF and his career prize money of $41.25 doesn't give me confidence that Mathumo is a notable professional sportsperson. An essay full of WP:OR presenting a novel in non-encyclopedic and often unclear language. The sources don't validate "social spirit" as a unique concept in philosophy; instead, this essay appears to represent the author's own views. Given a lack of BEFORE references to "social spirit" in the context of this article I can't figure out a way to improve this that would allow it to stay. The "sources" are links to the council's and the company's own website. This is a purely WP:Run-of-the-mill route, nothing notable about it at all, which you might have realised had you bothered to read the previous discussion, where even the page creator admits they couldn't find decent sources. --woodensuperman 15:47, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sources available in the usual searches seem to be a mirror of what's already in the article, funding announcements, which are excluded under WP:ORGTRIV, and the product reviews on miscellaneous sites which do not have the requisite reputation for fact checking to be considered RS (Forbes Advisor and Investopedia both also fall under this latter category). Searches for קונקטים appear to be more or less the same (e.g. [12], [13]) though I just dumped it at the usual English language search engines, I'm not sure if there is a more comprehensive index for Hebrew language web sources outside GBY.

With these sources, it is not currently possible to write an article to our current standards (i.e. more than just a list of funding announcements) so unfortunately this company might not be suited for this encyclopedia. Perhaps it might be able to find its home on a more specialised or comprehensive publication or database, or back here at a later date. Alpha3031 (tc) 15:24, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOTTVGUIDE applies here. Also LISTCRUFT (or WP:CRUFT). The subjects are not described as a group, failing WP:LISTN. • Keep The NBA All-Star Game is the National Basketball Association's big marquee annual event outside of the NBA Finals. Any further relevant information and sources always added to the article (such as through the aid of Google News Archives and what not) that can will help give it more notability. Also, the individual articles for each All-Star Game doesn't specifically specify or identify the exact role for each announcer like the play-by-play announcer, color commentator, sideline reporter, studio host, etc. This is where the lists in particular come into play as its presumably, a simpler and linear way to now about the television and radio broadcasting history and background. BornonJune8 (talk) 10:04, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I said above in case you didn't read, WP:USEFUL covers the point you made. Also, WP:ILIKEIT. SpacedFarmer (talk) 13:28, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, adding TV listings as sources will not support your argument. This isn't 2004 anymore. SpacedFarmer (talk) 10:10, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • @SpacedFarmer: I don't understand your own argument about how adding TV listings as sources will not support my argument. How can you argue that the list previously didn't have enough sources to assert its notability and yet, immediately discount newspaper articles from those exact time periods. To me you can't argue that something needs to be deleted if it's mostly unsourced per WP:RS and then say that said sources like TV listings. Many of the sources that I added thus far by the way, were not simply and just general TV listings (like bullet points), but paragraphed and fairly detailed articles. What does saying that "it isn't 2004 anymore" have to do with anything? I don't exactly get your point and argument there and why that's of any relevance. This wikipage is about a preprint that came out a week ago. It's generated some hype on webforums, but that's an extremely unreliable barometer of notability. Gumshoe2 (talk) 13:57, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the appropriate extent to include this as wiki material is limited to the following two sentences on Kolmogorov-Arnold representation theorem, as presently:
In the field of machine learning, there have been various attempts to use neural networks modeled on the Kolmogorov–Arnold representation. In these works, the Kolmogorov–Arnold theorem plays a role analogous to that of the universal approximation theorem in the study of multilayer perceptrons.
It doesn't seem to be the case that any particular attempt is very notable. Gumshoe2 (talk) 14:17, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Although less important than the issue of whether notability is established in reliable sources, I'd like to highlight that a main part of the preprint's self-reported notability is reflected in the wiki-statement "KANs have been shown to perform well on problems from knot theory and physics (such as Anderson localization)." This statement is extremely dubious. I'd encourage any mathematician to look at Table 5 on page 24 of the preprint or Table 6 on page 28. The KAN-discovered formulas are, in effect, nothing but classical regression with complicated functions. It has been possible to discover similarly complicated formulas for well over a century, and they aren't of any self-apparent interest whatsoever. The stark difference with the "Theory" or "Human"-discovered formulas should be apparent to even non-mathematicians.

The other examples in the paper are of (extremely) small toy data sets, nowhere close the scale at which machine learning is uniquely useful. As always, possibly papers in the future will develop this topic further, but at present it isn't remotely clear that this preprint is a significant development. WP:NOT a repository of links. This isn't really an article, it is a statement and some links. I've approached the editor with some help on his talk page. Note there is also a Draft version by the same editor. The editor seems to have a history of just adding lists of links in articles rather than citations or prose. Dennis Brown - 07:47, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Having an article of demos that routinely end without much incident is no more notable than having to tally other rallies by groups in other sides of the political spectrum. Borgenland (talk) 13:24, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Perfectly fine stub that helpfully lists sources that can be used for future expansion. The cited sources (including from The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post, so not just local coverage) clearly indicate that these demonstrations were considered notable at the time, and notability is not temporary. "Too many links" is not a valid reason for deletion and probably if they weren't there there'd be complaints about lack of references – it's a wonder people still bother writing articles. – Joe (talk) 15:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I can't access all the sources in this article, but the ones I can read are about specific rallies rather than the treatment of all these linked rallies as an overarching topic. They seem, at least from the sources I read, to be disparate and not directly related, not "a series" as the article asserts. At least one does not even seem to be about a rally. What connects these various sources is the wider topic of post-People Power Marcos loyalism, which found (and continues to find I suppose) a number of outlets of expression. The hardest expression is covered in Coup attempts against Corazon Aquino, one aspect is covered in Historical distortion regarding Ferdinand Marcos. Ferdinand Marcos's cult of personality skips straight over this period, although it seems likely very relevant to that article topic. All that is to say that there is a broader topic here for which we don't seem to have a broad topic article, and it is not clear whether this perhaps slightly synthy coverage of the rallies works as an independent subtopic within that. CMD (talk) 15:25, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is kind of my point, that this is just a collection of links that aren't directly relatable as a coherent topic. Is there an article that can be written on the topic? Maybe, but it would be completely rewritten to provide a notable "overarching topic". For starters, you would need sources talking about the rallies as a whole, not just individual rallies. Leaving as is, it is just a list of links. Dennis Brown - 01:16, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At a brief look I couldn't find sources on the rallies as a whole, but teasing out a specific topic among the broader Marcos corpus is not easy so I'm not putting too much stock in that, they may exist somewhere. I will note that it would be a shame to lose the collected sources. Some of them would fit on Ferdinand Marcos's cult of personality, filling that odd gap, for the others though I'm not sure if we have something more specific than History of the Philippines (1986–present). CMD (talk) 01:43, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You could always copy the links over to the talk page of the history of the Philippines article, and I would probably make a note in the summary as to the editor's name that provided them for attribution since this may get deleted. I wouldn't say there is enough to merge or draftify but that is how I would save the links if you think they are worth exploring. Farmer Brown - (alt: Dennis Brown) 05:52, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In that case wouldn't it make more sense to upmerge or rename it? Something like Marcos loyalism? – Joe (talk) 07:36, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If there was substantial or unique content, then perhaps, but there isn't (the article is one sentence), and there aren't sources to link it together as a single topic to pass GNG. I think you have to start with sources that at least tie the concepts together to have a broad topic that is "notable" first, then fill in the blanks with these kinds of sources that cover the individual events. The individual links might have value somewhere, but it would require WP:OR to stitch them together into this article. Dennis Brown - 13:50, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewed during NPP. No evidence of wp:notability. Co-founder of Rolex. Article is basically just tidbits of Rolex history with mentions of him. Half of the small amount of material in the article is Rolex history that doesn't even mention him. The same with sources; there are no sources on him much less GNG sources. I did a search with the same results. Rolex history with just mentions of him in that context. Article was prodded by others in October and de-prodded by creator. During NPP work I did a merge/redirect into Rolex (there was no real material to merge) and creator reversed that. I don't think that the creator understands wp:notability; I left a note on their talk page explaining that it's about coverage. North8000 (talk) 12:22, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Besides one potentially WP:RS on the article, I wouldn't consider this article to pass WP:GNG. "[D]esigned around simplicity and ease of use" also makes the article quite promotional. Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 12:56, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The promotional wording wasn't intentional. Anyhow in the context of WP:NSOFT, having 20k stars on GitHub and coverage in Linux Magazine and many other FOSS-focused sites makes it notability imo. Wqwt (talk) 13:13, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List criteria is programming "that are either currently being broadcast or have previously been broadcast", Wikipedia is not an electronic program guide, current or historical. Fails NLIST, no independent reliable sources discuss this as a group. BEFORE found programing schedules, nothing more. No evidence that this formation meets the GNG. Of the currently-cited sources, 2, 3, and 5 are self-published, not independent, and not reliable (except for direct quotes from Navy documents in source 3). Source 1 [31] seems to list only establishment and disestablishment dates (not sigcov), which is more than I expected from a source supposedly covering "1910-1920" – it seems the citing editor made a typo, the citation should read "1910-2010". Source 4 [32] doesn't seem to mention this unit at all. In sum, there are 0 sources that count toward the GNG, and I couldn't find anything in a before search. Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out about the article for Komail Anam. I understand your concerns about meeting the notability criteria for singers and actors (WP:SINGER & WP:ACTOR).
I've included sources in the article that demonstrate Komail Anams's involvement in major and side roles for notable TV shows.
Here are some suggestions:
- Consider the relevancy and credibility of the sources I've provided.
- You can also check the Wikipedia pages of the specific TV shows mentioned in the credits to verify their notability.
While WP:GNG might not be fully met at this point, the provided sources do establish involvement in established productions.
I do want to address the feeling of being bullied. Wikipedia relies on open discussion and collaboration, but it should always be done respectfully.
Would you be open to discussing this further and exploring ways to improve the article to meet notability criteria? We can work together to find a solution that ensures accuracy and adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines.

WP:NOTLINKEDIN. The subject of the article fails several of our notability policies: there is no evidence of WP:INDEPTH coverage – all references are to publications where he was co-author, or to unrelated press releases about drugs that don't even mention the subject's name, not speaking about confirming his role or achievements. There is no evidence of compliance with any criteria listed under WP:NACADEMIC either. The listed awards are minor awards, none has an article (note: NIH Director's Pioneer Award is not an award honouring its recipients but a research initiative).

Worst: there are many unverified claims in the article: the subject, who left Novartis in 2020, is claimed to have been "involved in early successes in gene therapy, including (...) Zolgensma (...) and Hemgenix". However, Novartis was not involved in Zolgensma development – the drug was developed by a US startup Avexis which received marketing authorisation for it just before the subject left Novartis, while remaining a separate company from Novartis; whereas Hemgenix is not a success yet, as it's barely a year on the market with very little uptake from payers outside the US. Claims that Dolmetch contributed to their "successes" appear unfounded and entirely unsourced WP:PUFFERY.

Nearly every sentence needs one or more of {{citation needed}}, {{fails verification}}, or {{secondary source needed}}.

All in all, with lack of independent coverage, I don't think this coporate staff member fulfils our criteria of encyclopaedia-level notability. — kashmīrī TALK 11:33, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Small patent troll that made a bit of an ephemeral stir 20 years ago when it tried to claim a patent on XML. Quickly sank back into obscurity. As a company it doesn't really do anything. 29 employees, 6 million revenue. No sources meet WP:CORPDEPTH. WP:ORGCRIT tells us that sources for such companies must be presented with a stronger emphasis on quality of the sources to prevent gaming of the rules by marketing and public relations professionals. Thus CORPDEPTH says Deep or significant coverage provides an overview, description, commentary, survey, study, discussion, analysis, or evaluation of the product, company, or organization. No such sources exist. This is just a patent troll. Added a notability template in April to attempt to address the issues but this was summarily removed after a second report of the patent trolling was added (misdated. It is from 2005, and not 2020). Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 10:25, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think the complaint the company is just a patent troll and doesn't really do anything misses the point a little bit – the patent trolling is precisely what the company is notable for. I agree it sank back into obscurity afterwards, but notability isn't temporary. The requirement is the company receives significant independent coverage in multiple sources; there's nothing about this coverage needing to take place over a prolonged period.
(misdated. It is from 2005, and not 2020) 2005 is the publication date, 2020 is the archive date. – Teratix 12:44, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Of the sources per WP:RS; one is about the BCS games in general, not just this, one is a 403, three of those talk about the BCS and Bowl games in general one is a TV schedule listing and one is about one of the announcers in general, not the boradcasting of this game. None of these are doing anything at all to help assert notability of lists like this. All the others are unsourced. SpacedFarmer (talk) 08:51, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The subjects are not described as a group, failing WP:LISTN. Additionally WP:NOTDATABASE and WP:ROUTINE. Of the sources per WP:RS; as with the ESPN sources, one redirects to the main page whilst the other is a 403. The other two are news report of the game itself, so not doing much to assert notability, which is used to argue about the notability of lists like this. Comment: I didn't want to write here since I wrote the article. Anyway, I wanted to draw attention to the fact that since he's an Arabic figure when you search for him in Arabic (صهيب ملكاوي), you will find many sources. From a promotional standpoint, I admit that the article contains some promotional words, which I have now deleted. In terms of notability, I see that he fulfills the first rule. He is seen as an important figure or widely cited by his peers or successors. This is an interview of his on YouTube that shows it, and here's another one. According to RanksArabia, a website that ranks according to the votes of the Arab public, Suhaib Al-Malkawi is ranked 30th among the best Arab media professionals, and 24th among the best broadcasters and program presenters on Al Jazeera. He is one of the most prominent broadcasters on a channel considered to be one of the largest channels in the Arab world. Clearfrienda mentioned that "Probably a COI" . This is a bad assumption. For some time now, I have been writing and contributing articles about important Arabic figures, poems, places... etc, here in the encyclopedia, there is a similarity with the family names. Found no signs of notability (some notable publications covered the announcement/lead single but it's not exactly NMUSIC#1 level) and redirected. That's been undone, so now we're here. Got a response on my talk page including "That's an actual published album by a known rock band that has been producing albums for decades"; just wanna emphasize NOTINHERITED here in case they or anyone else is thinking of bringing that up. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 01:31, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The St. Louis Post Dispatch wrote that it was “finally” available, meaning it was anticipated and notable. Repeating that several notable publications did write about it as well.
This group has released several singles that don’t need their own pages, several live albums that don’t need their own page. However, this album was released on various media and noted in the press. This is a notable article, and sits alongside other albums in their discography, for informational and educational purposes.
I would like to note that people come to Wikipedia to find information, and undoubtedly will look for this album’s information. Deleting the page does not serve users’ interests at all. Louie Mantia (talk) 01:43, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or "finally" just means "after a long time", and it has been a decade since their last album. And even if that were a good sign for notability, the piece is mostly an interview in which the writer only really says the same things about the album that the announcements cover, including the 93x "article" which is stated at the bottom as a press release from Frankly Media. The Riff review is good, but it's still not enough, and I know there's nothing else because I already looked and saw all of what you've added but that was it, hence why I redirected in the first place.
I already brought up NOTINHERITED because it was clearly necessary to mention, but I didn't realize I would need to point out multiple other sections of that page as well, namely WP:INTERESTING, WP:USEFUL, and WP:ABOUTEVERYTHING which pretty much all came up in your case just now. And if users are "undoubtedly" looking for this info, it can always be added to the band's page where I sent the redirect and readers will find it there just fine and be satisfied. I'll even support that as a merge argument if you're on board for it. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 02:03, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The reason this article was nominated for deletion was there were “no signs of notability.”
After that, it was immediately noted by you (QuietHere) that there were some notable publications. There is also at least one notable review, from Riff Magazine. I think we can safely say that “no signs of notability” is an inaccurate assessment. An argument can be made that there are “few” (by what measure?), but I think “none” would be too far.
I think these few sources specifically address the requirement to prove it is notable, but as @Oaktree b also pointed out, it may be too soon, as the album was released only a week ago. It’s possible more will come up, but as of this moment, it does seem to me that there are valid, suitable sources already cited in the article.
Entirely separate from my argument and unrelated to the bit about deletion, I am a bit hurt by the condescending tone you’ve (QuietHere) brought to this, notably “in case they or anyone else is thinking of bringing that up” and “I didn't realize I would need to point out multiple other sections of that page as well,” both of which imply some level of superiority, which I think is just hurtful and not constructive for this discussion. I think your argument can be made without that. Louie Mantia (talk) 12:06, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep: Also found this in the Tennessean [39] which is an interview with the singer, but talks about the album. With the American Songwriter article, just barely enough. Is likely TOOSOON as the album was released on the 3rd of May, more might pop up. Oaktree b (talk) 04:08, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at this Riff Magazine link [40], it's not listed as a RS in Wiki Project album, but it seems ok. Another interview where they also talk about the album. Oaktree b (talk) 04:10, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a reason why this article should exist -- none of the sources (that aren't broken) talk about the software industry in Madurai as a broader trend. This failed a PROD for being potentially notable, but absent any evidence to support that potential, I think this article should be deleted. HyperAccelerated (talk) 01:26, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NBIO. Sources are user-generated, primary sources or trivial coverage (the phone book??). BEFORE search turns up no other evidence of notability as an artist or generally. Dclemens1971 (talk) 00:11, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: Very trivial coverage found [42]. No listing in the Getty ULAN [43], the artist hasn't gained critical recognition, with no sourcing in Gscholar found... The person existed, but that's not what we're looking for in a notability guideline. Oaktree b (talk) 04:21, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Artists, Poland, Canada, Connecticut, and New York. WCQuidditch 04:47, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per WP:HEY. I added three RS to the article. While cleaning up, I deleted all the unsourced and unnecessary material, and re-formatted two references. I think the article should be kept largely due to Ryshpan's regular exhibitions at the Montreal of Museum of Fine Arts, and his entry in A Dictionary of Canadian Artists. There is also non-trivial coverage of his 1958 retrospective. It passes WP:GNG with at least two reliable sources. Curiocurio (talk) 14:19, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article is definitely improved and I thank you for taking that on! but I question the use of MacDonald's dictionary to validate notability. It doesn't appear to be selective but rather inclusive of any artist (the volume Ryshpan is listed is just Canadian artists with last names R-S, that single volume is over 500 pages long, and Ryshpan warrants a single paragraph). Meanwhile, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts exhibitions were not selective nor were they exclusive to Ryshpan. The spring exhibition was for many decades an exhibition open to all artists and often included 400-500 works (see page 2 of the source you provided). That leaves a short reference in Ayre's art column, and I frankly disagree that this is enough. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:44, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The main point is that three reliable sources are enough to get over WP:GNG, not WP:NARTIST. Curiocurio (talk) 16:07, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Right, the question is whether a phone-book-length non-selective directory and an exhibition summary for a non-selective, open-to-all art exhibition constitute "significant coverage" for GNG. I'm skeptical. Dclemens1971 (talk) 17:04, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A Dictionary of Canadian Artists has been completed by the National Gallery of Canada, so it's hardly just a directory. Curiocurio (talk) 17:11, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
