Barattiiman[edit]

I see that you reported him at ANI for false statements, prior warnings, and general incoherency. I've dealt with him a few times at Portal:Current events, where he, like you said, has a history of general incoherency. I hadn't noticed it for a little while, but sure enough, he's done it again.

Overall, if you filed some sort of CBAN proposal at ANI on WP:CIR grounds, I'd be a strong support since I'm starting to seriously doubt his ability to constructively contribute in the English language. I don't quite have the expertise to file an ANI case on a user I haven't been directly party to longer-term, however; as I said, it had been a little while since I directly cleaned up a mess he left. The Kip 07:21, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure I’d like to file a complaint at this moment since it might be construed as WP:HOUND. But I most probably will try again if we cross paths with an article on my watchlist, which is how I ended up filing previous complaints. Borgenland (talk) 07:26, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject tagging[edit]

Hi there, thank you for all your contributions! I noticed you're doing a lot of WikiProject tagging of article talk pages recently, and wanted to let you know that ideally such banner should go inside the banner shell (i.e. Template:WikiProject banner shell), rather than outside like you did at Talk:Anton Agošton. There is also no need to include |class= on individual WikiProjects, as they inherit it from the banner shell. You may want wish to look at more semi-automated tools for this task, such as WP:RATER. -Kj cheetham (talk) 13:29, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. My hands sometimes get tired of typing that I tend to copy things from the shell template or whatever the last article I copied it from. Will try to be more careful. Borgenland (talk) 13:30, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I personally find using WP:RATER saves me some typing, so is probably worth a look if this is an area of interest to you too. -Kj cheetham (talk) 13:34, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not to pile on, but it would also be helpful if you could please add the |living= and |listas= parameters when you add {{WikiProject Biography}}, so you don't add the page to Category:Biography articles without living parameter and Category:Biography articles without listas parameter. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 23:07, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I should add those parameters belong in the banner shell ideally too, thanks. So {{WikiProject Biography}} then inherits them from the shell. :-) But it's not a big deal, as a bot will eventually correct things like that. -Kj cheetham (talk) 19:17, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reminder. I do normally put them, it happened that I was on a frenzy to assess that time as seen by my rapid activities. Borgenland (talk) 07:24, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request unblock[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Borgenland (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 136.158.43.173. I am also confused. I haven’t been editing for almost 24 hours because my cat just died and I am temporarily in a different domicile, which is why I am using a different wifi network which is probably the cause of this. No one has been complaining about my edits and I do not have any pending cases at ANI/AIV or SPI. Borgenland (talk) 13:16, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Confirmed proxy. See Template:Blocked p2p proxy for more details. I'm really sorry to hear about your cat, cats are fabulous. Yamla (talk) 13:40, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

For the record though, am I assuming that this is because I am accused of being a sock? Or is it a problem with the wifi at my current location? Or is it the fact that I my account is open on my laptop as well as my phone at the same time? Borgenland (talk) 14:12, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you have been abusing multiple accounts, I certainly suggest you stop. But we have no reason to believe you've been abusing multiple accounts (WP:SOCK), it's just a problem with the wifi at your current location. If you are planning on being here more than just a few days, WP:IPBE may be an option for you. --Yamla (talk) 14:16, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My only other account is transparently declared on my Userpage with legitimate justification. As for the internet, I’m only in transit in my current location. I expect to be back at my one of my 2 permanent addresses within the next day though it will take some hours by road. I hope this clears things up since this is the first time I have had this problem, which came about without a formal blockage notice and popped up only as I was about to make a routine edit. Borgenland (talk) 14:20, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Clarify: accused of being a sock, not being a sock in itself. That misunderstanding was made in confusion when the request was denied. 14:24, 9 March 2024 (UTC) Borgenland (talk) 14:24, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see you did indeed appropriately declare an alternate account. Again, I have no suspicion that you've done anything wrong here. You just happen to be using an IP address that functions as a proxy through no fault of your own. To be clear, I haven't looked at the technical evidence, but that's specifically because I have no suspicion here. :) --Yamla (talk) 19:45, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It’s fine. I’m currently out of my last location and currently using mobile data on the road. I have been able to edit normally since. Thanks for the clarification. Borgenland (talk) 19:58, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

March 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to 2024 Western Russia incursion: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Firestar464 (talk) 11:59, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'm just unsure whether to give a warning because I fear that they, assuming that they are bona fide trolls, would relish it if someone bothered to give attention to them. I will issue a sterner warning if they come back. 12:06, 13 March 2024 (UTC) Borgenland (talk) 12:06, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting "copyvio"?[edit]

Hi! In this diff, you put "copyvio" as the reason, when I wrote that and did not copy from any sources. It may have been too much information, so needing removal anyway, but why did you state copyright as your revert reason? BhamBoi (talk) 23:56, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies but the way it was written like a news report gave rise to suspicions on my part that it may have been. Borgenland (talk) 00:19, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Update the Israel-Hamas War Timeline[edit]

According to Al Jazeera, Israel claims it has “dismantled” 18 of the 24 battalions operated by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, killed more than 21,500 fighters, and destroyed many tunnels. To put the number into perspective, Falk said it took the US military nine months to kill 5,000 ISIL (ISIS) members in Iraq's Mosul. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2024/3/15/israels-war-on-gaza-live-new-horrific-massacre-on-starving-palestinians?update=2775000#:~:text=Israel%20claims%20it%20has%20%E2%80%9Cdismantled,ISIS)%20members%20in%20Iraq's%20Mosul. 65.175.241.99 (talk) 19:49, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have...[edit]

...any thoughts/ suggestions on this this ? Saqib (talk) 17:18, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve been trying to fix that article due to tons of grammatical errors, tons of redundancies, generic and fictitious author names in refs and sections that seem to have been copy-pasted from newspapers from time to time, which unfortunately is also prevalent in a lot of Pakistani politicians’ biographies I have handled since February. Borgenland (talk) 17:23, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry? Which article you talking about? --Saqib (talk) 18:16, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You referred to Maryam Nawaz. The others I checked included Arif, Kakar, Nawaz, Shehbaz, Imran Khan, the Bhuttos and Musharraf. Borgenland (talk) 02:38, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're absolutely right. Majority Pakistani bio pages are in dire need of improvement. But currently, I'm focusing on enhancing Maryam's page. As you can see, I've expanded it significantly. However, I'm seeking opinions on whether I'm heading in the right direction and if there are any areas that need improvement. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. --Saqib (talk) 06:27, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So far it is grammatically coherent. My suggestion is for a separation to be made with her Early life and education against her personal life. I have lingering suspicions about the length of the political career, but I think it has to do with the sources, some of which may be compromised given the political and media climate in Pakistan, though determining which sources are suspicious is beyond my capacity as someone who doesn't live in the country and since there has been no serious discussion of reliability of Pakistan based sources in previous arbitration discussions. So far, in my experience, I trust Dawn but not sure about the others unless they are reporting on plain accidents and incidents. I suggest closely scrutinizing the hagiographic-sounding ones first before moving on to possible muckracking. Borgenland (talk) 06:35, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well based on my assessment, nearly all of the sources currently utilized in this BLP can be deemed reliable, though they may not be of the highest caliber. Considering the standards prevalent in Pakistan, these sources suffice, although Dawn itself has faced criticisms at times despite being the nation's leading news outlet. Anyways, I will split the Early life and education section as suggested and create a new section for her personal life. I still encourage you to go through the political career section and offer suggestions for further subsections. We can then proceed to split it accordingly and evaluate the overall structure. --Saqib (talk) 19:14, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry it took so long, as I have 270+ articles watching today, not all permanently. Initial controversies and challenges and Legal challenges and conviction in corruption cases is better off merged. And the political career should either include chief ministership for consistency or be split off since it is too heavy. Borgenland (talk) 14:47, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dina Boluarte[edit]

I just saw the citation issues on Dina Boluarte and was wondering how that happened. Does visual editing in a section restart the count of ref names (ref name=":0", etc.)? I'll go through and clean it up, but just wanted to apologize since it looked fine when I originally made the edit. Thanks for taking a look at the article since it hasn't received much attention in months and let me know if there are any other concerns. WMrapids (talk) 16:58, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was indeed confused about that. Unfortunately I'm not sure regarding your query since I am more of a source editor. Terrorists and Militants[edit]

Regarding your recent edits on Bohol, I am normally against any form of terrorist tagging for many organizations, but at the same time, I am not comfortable with calling the ASG "militants." My concern is that we may begin creating an atmosphere where the ASG's actions and motivations begin to be associated with OTHER militant groups. In a way, the use of "militant" is sort of POV as well. Is it okay if we just avoid tags altogether in this case? I.e. Aby Sayaff attacks instead of either terrorist or militant attacks, and Abu Sayaff elements rather than Abu sayaff militants or terrorists? Cheers - MistahPeemayer (talk) 02:48, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was my understanding that the word terrorist was to be avoided as much as possible per MOS:TERRORIST and per prior experience in handling other terror-related pages, with my semi-traumatic experience contributing to the Israel-Hamas War as an example. Plus, that section looked as if it was written by the NTF-ELCAC (who else would use the word nefarious in an encyclopedia) Borgenland (talk) 03:54, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point regarding NTF-ELCAC, which is a valid enough argument for me. But I also was not aware of MOS:TERRORIST, which I will now keep in mind for future reference. Cheers! - MistahPeemayer (talk) 00:23, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
