Page mover granted

Hello, Shushugah. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

@HJ Mitchell hope you had a nice weekend, thank you for the provisional trust! I performed a 3-way round-robins (involving a DAB page) and a 4 way-Archive swap, and several regular page-swaps and would love feedback. In the case of DAB, I specifically checked for any cleanup redirects that might need to be done. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 14:48, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Question from Max killpain (06:42, 21 April 2023)

Hello, how can I write my own article --Max killpain (talk) 06:42, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

@Max killpain Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing six million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read WP:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out WP:TUTORIAL; it's a lot of fun! Speedy deletion declined: ContractZen

Hello Shushugah, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of ContractZen, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 11:56, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

@Ivanvector, thank you for pinging me. I did not find a claim of significance in the article. Neither from being first first 20 apps available in AppSource, nor Ingram Micro's 'Comet Competition' vanity awards. How did you see it differently? In the meantime, I will nominate for AfD. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:03, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
I would say that the partnership with PWC (one of the Big Four accounting firms) is significant, as well as integrations with Adobe and DocuSign for a contract management app. I don't think any of those confer notability and the article probably wouldn't survive a deletion discussion, but these claims are enough to pass A7. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 12:06, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
Makes sense, thank you! ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:12, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Josephine Piyo

I am disappointed to see you nominate Josephine Piyo for deletion. The article was awfully stubby and incomplete but the references provided do state that she was a state legislator prior to becoming deputy governor elect even if that was missing from the article. -- Whpq (talk) 15:45, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

@Whpq I agree it was not proper to nominate for CSD, but I already knew she was once a state legislator, but that does not confer notability per WP:NPOL. It’s not a federal position. This discussion would better held at the AfD where others may opine as well. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 18:52, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
You need to reread WP:NPOL which includes "state/province–wide office" as part of it. -- Whpq (talk) 20:49, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Mandera Prison FAC?

Hello again Shushugah 🙂 If you have the time, could you take another look at the article Mandera Prison? You helped me to promote it to GA status about three months ago now, and I'm now attempting to get it to Featured Article status- but there is currently a lack of reviews on the FAC page to do so. I would appreciate it, cheers! Johnson524 (Talk!) 19:21, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Tesla and unions

The article Tesla and unions you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Tesla and unions for comments about the article, and Talk:Tesla and unions/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Siemens and unions moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Siemens and unions, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. On 24 July 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tesla and unions, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Tesla, Inc. is the only major U.S. automobile manufacturer with no unionized American plants? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tesla and unions. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tesla and unions), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. The August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive is at the halfway mark, and has seen incredible progress, dropping the backlog from 638 to 359 unreviewed articles -- a 43.7% reduction in only fifteen days! But we still have over two weeks to go, and there are plenty of articles left to review:

  • We've gone from 14 nominations 270+ days old and 65 nominations 180+ days old to 2 and 0 respectively. No more articles will reach 270+ status during the drive, and only three more will reach 180+ if unreviewed, so this is your last chance to get the higher age bonuses!
  • We still have plenty of articles in the 90+ range, but the list is shrinking fast.
  • Some articles need new reviewers, either because they're officially on second opinion or because the original reviews were deleted or invalidated. You can help prevent these articles from waiting longer!
  • While there are starting to be clear favourites for the Content Review Medal of Merit, the field is still very open. A late entrant can still pull an upset to get the most reviews in the drive!

And remember: if you've done reviews, you should log them at the backlog drive page for points, so they can be tracked towards your awards at the end.

Thanks for signing up for the drive, and I hope to see you reviewing! Vaticidalprophet 02:01, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Question from KelleyAR85 on Lovers Lane (1999 film) (05:30, 11 September 2023)

Hello! I noticed a movie has details wrong. I tried to edit but it doesn't show me the part that needs to be edited. I have never tried to edit wiki before so I honestly don't know what's going on. I just wanted to try to get the error fixed. It's a small, low budget film but it still should have correct information. It says that Penny and Tom get into a police car with "The hook" killer as the last sentence in the plot. However that is incorrect. It is Michael and Mandy that get into the police car with him. --KelleyAR85 (talk) 05:30, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

@KelleyAR85 hello, I don't see any editing restrictions. Are you perhaps editing on mobile device? You can edit one section at a time on mobile device, while editing in source mode would let you edit the entire page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lovers_Lane_%281999_film%29&veaction=editsource ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 15:03, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
Yes I am doing it from mobile. I tried both options and it only shows down to the 2nd paragraph where it shows the year made. It doesn't go anywhere near as far down as the Plot. That's ok though, like I said it's a small movie. There probably aren't a lot of people looking it up. Just wanted to mention it needed to be corrected. Thank you for your response. Your change on Crypto-Anarchism Wiki to Anarchism as the subgroup

Hello Shushshugah! Hope you are well. Wanted to have a friendly discussion about your change of the Crypto-Anarchist subgroup from "anarcho-capitalism" to "anarchism." I am contesting that change. There is substantial evidence that the founder of crypto-anarchism, Timothy May, was largely influenced by David Friedman and anarcho-capitalist thinking. The earliest cypherpunks were largely anarcho-capitalist in terms of their politics and worldview. (Read Timothy May's Cyphernomicon text and see its reference to Friedman's The Machinery of Freedom, one of the anarcho-capitalist foundational texts. Also, note that May referenced Ayn Rand as an influence).

So, in the interest of fairness and debate, I would love to learn why you changed it to "anarchism" in general rather than its more specific philosophical predecessor. Are there some arguments or facts I should be aware of? Reference my arguments above in context to yours.

Thanks. Sklujan (talk) 16:55, 12 September 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Shushugah, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! – Joe (talk) 07:34, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

“1988 Hamas Covenant” vs “2017 Revised Hamas Charter”

Hi. I can’t make rev to the “Hamas Charter” page because I don’t have enough edits.

I’m seeing tons of people share the link to the original 1988 Charter page when asserting “the Hamas charter calls for the genocide of all Jews.” They fail to mention the 2017 revision where almost all (or all?) mention of “ending Jews” was removed and replaced with anti-Zionism language.

I suggest a separate page be created for the “2017 Revised Hamas Charter”. They aren’t the same, and were written 30 years apart. That way, if a user wishes to counter the assertion that Hamas is explicitly anti-Jew, they can link to a separate stand-alone 2017 entry. Even the Atlantic author, whose pro-Zionist opinion piece is cited at least twice on the page, refers to both as separate documents. I can’t read his entire premise because it conveniently sits behind a paywall.

As it stands, the current 1988 page has become an anti-Palestinian propaganda tool. Complicated problem, simple solution. “See, no effort on my part to prove I’m right. It says right here Hamas wants to eradicate all Jews.”

The page continually focuses on the antisemitism of the 1988 document, containing in-depth discussions about the ideology, jihadism, and the antisemitic canards of the 1988 doc. Any discussion of 2017 charter is absent in these sections. All of the 1988 articles are listed; none of the 2017 articles appear. And although there are several links that link directly to the 2017 articles, none are provided. The See Also section does not include a link either. I do not see a link to the 2017 charter anywhere on this page.

thanks for your consideration and hope I sent this to the correct person. LegalResearcherSTL (talk) 11:16, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

Edit: I did a Google search for “2017 Hamas Charter.” The first result is:
MIDDLE EAST EYE
May 2, 2017 — Hamas in 2017: The document in full. Hamas explains general principles ... Hamas reforms founding charter in bid to end international isolation.
Second result is the fore mentioned WP “Hamas Charter” page.
I’m definitely not pro-Hamas, but the 2017 revision is very well-written from a legal perspective and I believe it should be discussed separately and not thrown in with the 1988 document. LegalResearcherSTL (talk) 11:34, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

New Talk Topic - 2017 Revised Hamas Charter

Hi there! I’m not sure if I’m doing this correctly. I posted a lengthy comment on your Talk page. Just let me know if you are the appropriate person to send my suggestions. Thanks! LegalResearcherSTL (talk) 02:30, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

I saw you commented on Talk:Hamas Charter which is the best place to discuss it. I'm personally still undecided, and would want to review/read more sources first, before drawing a conclusion, but I'm erring towards keeping it one article, and examining its content. See WP:FORK. Thanks for the suggestion and let's continue the discussion at Talk:Hamas Charter where more eyes/people can opine. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 19:26, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Reassessment request: Sidor Belarsky

Ciao Shushugah; When you have some extra time you might enjoy reassessing the biography about Sidor Belarsky who was a leading Ukrainian/American opera soloist and educator who specialized in preserving and interpreting Judaic folksongs, Chasidic, Nigunim and cantorial music related to the holocaust. Links to his archived performances have been added to his article. You might also enjoy reading about the leading contemporary Jewish/American/German composer/educator Samuel Adler (composer) who narrowly escaped the holocaust in Germany in the late 1930s, emigrated with his father (who was a noted cantor in Mannheim, Germany) to the USA, and returned to Germany after World War II to create the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra which contributed to the process of creating international peace and understanding in Europe after the war. In addition,, he dedicated his life's work to fostering cultural links between Germany and the USA while mentoring students at two of America's leading music conservatories and composing over works. Enjoy the music. Happy Holidays & Ciao!160.72.80.178 (talk) 16:43, 7 December 2023 (UTC)NHPL

Editing Consent in BDSM

This article is largely incorrect and lacks legitimate references. I have compiled information from peer-reviewed articles and historical BDSM nonfiction books that I would like to add to this page. I want to go about this respectfully. Can I make a note of what I'm doing on the Talk page of Consent in BDSM and then make the changes, or do I need to go about this differently? SusanWrightAZ (talk) 21:44, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

@SusanWrightAZ that sounds like an excellent plan! Reading the talk page is helpful for learning about previous discussions. You don’t have to per WP:BOLD but it’s the golden standard for collaboration. In case someone disagrees with you, they should discuss with you per WP:BRD cycle. Thank you for improving Wikipedia! ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 21:53, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
@SusanWrightAZ One more thing, be mindful no one has WP:Ownership of any Wikipedia articles, and given your professional expertise, which is welcome; if you cite sources that are connected to you or your organization, that is okay but it must be declared as a WP:PAID relation. It simply improves transparency for everyone. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 21:56, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your response! Out of 40 sources that I've compiled, I'm only citing one paper where I'm a co-author, and the NCSF database on Consent for BDSM Appellate cases so people can read all of the case law for themselves. I would be glad to include the disclosure for those two citations, however I am a volunteer rather than an employee of NCSF, and since I'm not paid by them, I wasn't sure if I should include the disclosure. I really appreciate your help. SusanWrightAZ (talk) 23:27, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
Relatable. I’m a volunteer with Tech Workers Coalition and while I’m not paid, I definitely have a WP:Conflict of interest so I note it in the talk page. I refrain from directly editing the article in that case, whereas I created Tech union which is analogous to the BDSM article above in terms of expertise but also strong stakes in. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 23:44, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I am creating a language article about my own language but there is no books about my language. --Jcoego (talk) 15:54, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

So, I can't show any reliable source. Jcoego (talk) 15:57, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
This is a case of WP:NOTYET then, since Wikipedia exclusively summarizes what secondary sources say. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 16:41, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
What do you mean? Jcoego (talk) 11:14, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
Please read carefully WP:NOT Wikipedia can never be the first website to promote your language, topic or other creative invention. Wikipedia is a WP:TERTIARY source that EXCLUSIVELY summarizes secondary sources. So if there are no books or independent secondary news articles, than you should not attempt to create a Wikipedia article. It will be deleted and be a frustrating experience for everyone. Signpost I/P article

I may be able to contribute to your article, but I am not clear technically how it works. Is there a previous interview I can view to get an idea? Thank you, Coretheapple (talk) 21:10, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

@Coretheapple Wonderful! Here’s a previous one I did last year Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2023-02-04/WikiProject report. If you think there are better questions or missing background information, happy to incorporate that. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 21:14, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
That's helpful. Thank you. Coretheapple (talk) 21:41, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
I guess one suggestion I would make is that all questions be answered by all editors, not just admins/clerks. In my experience there is nothing about the so-called "mop" that conveys better judgment on the matters you're asking about. Any more than giving a real "mop" makes a person better at using it. Coretheapple (talk) 21:54, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
Only last three questions are for admins. I’m specifically interested how someone can do janitor activity on a topic that requires extensive subject expertise, yet they simultaneously must not be INVOLVED. There are admins who participate as regular participants. I could make it more explicit that majority of questions are intended for everyone tho. Or do you have a more specific suggestion? ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 21:59, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
On that question that especially interests you (and it is an excellent question), I think the views of people other than admins would also be helpful, and that restricting it to admins alone is inadvisable. Some of us have been with the project much longer than many admins. On that particular question, I would suggest that no subject matter expertise is necessary. Admins are not acting as umpires on content issues. They are dealing with conduct, and conduct alone. It is frustrating to me that admins have shirked their responsibility on I/Ppages, leaving it to one or two admins. Personally I have no interest in the opinion of admins who sit in the bleachers and second-guess admins who go in and do the hard work. Coretheapple (talk) 15:37, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
Anyhow, feel free to answer any/all questions. I have adjusted the survey accordingly. I believe conduct alone is the formal administration but in practice it overlaps work content, and this gap is what interests me. @ScottishFinnishRadish agreed to participate. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 16:00, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
Well I am very glad you are raising it and am also glad that SFR is paricipating. And thank you for making that adjustment. I think that perhaps admins are intimidated by the lengthy history of the conflict and feel they need to educate themselves about it. Wrong! An admin should be able to step into any article and deal with user conduct, as indeed SFR has done. He is just one admin and he has made a difference. Coretheapple (talk) 16:11, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
