Photo of Jimmy Carter in John Denver article

I think that the inclusion of Image:WIKI JIMMY CARTER.jpg in the John Denver article is entirely unjustified. It would be something entirely different if it showed Denver's participation in Carter's campaign. The photo is just a signed photo of Carter ostensibly campaigning. Now, if you had a photo like Image:Davis Nixon 1973.jpg, that shows the relationship between Sammy Davis, Jr. and Richard Nixon, that would make sense. --rogerd 03:50, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Response

That's fair, but considering that there is currently no image picturing Denver and Carter campaigning (on the English Wikipedia), and that the campaign is particularly pointed out in Denver's memoirs Take Me Home , I'd say the image's use is justifiable. Carter and Denver's close political and personal relationship warants such an image in my opinion. I do agree that an image of Denver and Carter together, at least, would be better fitting, but as I previously noted, there is currently no such image exisitng on Wikipedia (that I know of). If you can locate one, fine, but I think the current photo would be OK unitl then. If you disagree, I can understand why. Thanks for the comments. Editor19841 00:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Denver Discography

No problem. It looked a little bare. I'll try to get around to some more later. On a side note, where's "All Aboard"? Cjosefy 23:32, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Response

Good question. Denver's 1997 children's album "All Aboard" won a Grammy for "Best Children's Album of the Year", and was the crucial final piece of Denver's cut-short lifetime. I'll get it's information posted a.s.a.p.. Thanks for the comments. Editor19841 00:13, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tampa 2008

Hi, Editor19841. I would like to ask you what it takes to get a template publically available to Wikipedia users. I have taken the design of your User:1ne/Userboxes/Denver2008 and made it into something similar: User:Messedrocker/Userboxes/User Tampa2008. I am a Democrat, but I live in Tampa and therefore want the Republican National Convention to be held there. I feel that this template is ready to be used by others, I just don't know how to go about doing it. Thank you.--Chili14(Talk|Contribs) 00:40, 13 July 2006 (UTC) P.S Please respond on MY talk page.[reply]

About your cross-posted message Re: the 2008 DNC in Denver

Ahoy! Tuesday evening, you left the same message on quite a few user's talk pages, specifically regarding your desire to see the 2008 DNC in Denver. Although some folks were receptive to your suggestions, and even though the ultimate goal is much, much more broad than what one normally encounters in these situations, it is still a violation of our Spamming Policies, and where possible, has been reverted.

Perhaps some suggestions on getting the word out without multiple cross-posting? You could try leaving a large notice on your userpages letting people know about the campaign and the appropriate userbox. In the past, I have also seen folks leave short messages in their signatures - it would have to be rather short, sweet, and to the point. What about --Editor19841 Support Denver for the 2008 DNC here! TIME DATE UTC etc. (Go to My Preferences to change your signature...)

You might also be interested in Jimmy Wales' Campaign Wikia, a wiki aimed at "being a central meeting ground for people on all sides of the political spectrum who think that it is time for politics to become more participatory, and more intelligent [... with] the goal of bringing together people from diverse political perspectives [... and] engaging with the serious ideas of intelligent opponents, [and] activating and motivating ordinary people to get involved..."

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Thanks! --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 06:57, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DNC =

Hi, I got your message, and, I just wanted to let you know, that, as I saw above has happened, many morons will come after you for doing this sort of thing, even if it is well-intentioned. Just wanted to warn you. But regradless, you have my support. aido2002 00:32, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Response

Thanks for your support. My intention on the 'Pedia has never been to make trouble, onr to break any rules that have been set forth for users to abide by. And, although I disagree to an extent on some of these rules, it's not my place to challenge them now, and rather to find alternative means of moving forward with my work here. But I do thank everybody for the support of the Denver 2008 campaign, as well as there respect for me as an editor. Thanks for the comments, have a good one. Until someone from the GOP can explain to me...

Why education is too expensive yet $10 billion in tax cuts to oil companies aren't, and why the GOP Senate needs to put such a high priority on "protecting" us from ourselves in regards to such trivial issues as flag desecration and online gambling instead of terrorism, not to mention the inane adventures of Jack Abramoff and Ralph E. Reed, Jr., I'm happy to be back home in the Democratic Party.

Out of all the cities being considered for the 2008 convention, I think Denver is the best choice for a multitude of reasons:

  • Only city bidding exclusively for the Democratic National Convention
  • Denver's location best fits Howard Dean's calls for a fifty-state strategy and to strengthen the grassroots efforts of the Democratic Party
  • Nominating our candidate there will provide the most appeal to traditional Democratic voters and swing voters

Thanks for stopping by my userpage!

Best regards, --Folksong 03:01, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Response

Any time, Folksong. Welcome back, and thanks for your support! I couldn't agree with you more. My support as a Dem has greatly been forged by stances on issues of social matter; universal healthcare, poverty, economic segregation created by this defecit, and environmental issues like drilling in Alaska. Hey, any way you look at it, our great country needs a Democrats back in the helm. Thanks for the comments. Editor19841 18:25, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for the warm welcome. I am pretty active in the outdoors... this weekend I am doing a 14er (Grays Peak). That article already has a picture, but if there's any areas up there that do need images, feel free to let me know.
