Speedy deletion of Media takeout[edit]

A tag has been placed on Media takeout requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Bfigura (talk) 21:29, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mediat Takeout is a gossip site that is cited on many urban radio stations through the U.S. Media takeout has provided info before many other news outlets on "urban news".

Speedy deletion of Media Take Out[edit]

A tag has been placed on Media Take Out, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

Speedy deletion templates[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.

Your recent edits[edit]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ccb logo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ccb logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:11, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:18judge.190.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:18judge.190.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? 160.83.72.211 (talk) 21:29, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:JayneKennedy2.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. WifiTastic[edit]

The article WifiTastic has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:33, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

      • And the third time, it included advertising in violation of WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. Before you repost this article, please make sure it meets the cited guidelines. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:59, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your article included promotional language like "all you have to worry about is...", "all inclusive solution", and "The company is dedicated to providing easy, affordable, and secure commercial hotspots." FON, by contrast, is written from a neutral point of view. Also, FON is supported by about 16 independent sources. Yours had none. See the guidelines I (repeatedly) cited to you, above. You should read them. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:14, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just help me rather then deletee this company that promotes the use of GDL software like Openwrt?

      • It's unprotected for now. But if you repost the article to mainspace again without curing the problems that you have been repeatedly told about, the article will be deleted and protected again, and you will be blocked from editing. I *strongly* suggest you work on the article in your userspace first. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:27, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
        • Deleted and protected again. You fixed the spam problem, but you still cited no sources to show that this company is notable. Until you have them (see WP:V and WP:CORP, work on the article in your userspace. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:03, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
          • I've told you over and over again how to make the article acceptable, and you haven't listened. One last time: if you can edit the article in your userspace so that it meets our minimum standards for notability and verifiability, then let me know and I'll consider unprotecting. But the main article space isn't a place for you to post inadequate articles in the hope that they will somehow be improved. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:30, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
            • Read WP:CORP for the standards on notability for corporations, and WP:N for the general notability standards. --Clubjuggle T/C 22:50, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Wifitastic[edit]

A tag has been placed on Wifitastic, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Notability is only asserted by a press release and company's own website, no reliable sources so fails WP:WEB.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Exxolon (talk) 23:12, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry -- I know you've been working hard on this. But your sources for the last version were the company's own website (not independent), its press release (not independent), and a blog (not reliable). To give you an idea of what sorts of sources are reliable and independent, see WP:V and WP:RS. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:16, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Once again, you don't have any sources of the types discussed in WP:V and WP:RS. You've added a one-line mention on some computer company's website to the press release and WifiTastic site that you had before. Has Wifitastic ever been covered by a newspaper or magazine, or a major tech site such as Cnet? If not, it's probably too early for it to have an article. Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of previously published material to our articles as you apparently did to Barack Obama. Please cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. -- Scjessey (talk) 12:15, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the rude comment you left on my talk page, regardless of the "facts" you still added original research to Barack Obama that was unsupported by a reliable source. Now kindly review this policy before commenting in this manner again. -- Scjessey (talk) 16:51, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your edit, while technically accurate, was unsourced, and that is all that matters. Your comments toward me have lacked civility, when all I have done is follow Wikipedia's policies regarding unsourced material. Your edit would have been reverted by whoever noticed it first, and it just happened to be me. -- Scjessey (talk) 17:25, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Second notice - you are edit warring both to include the disputed information in the article, and also to reinstate the personal attack against the editor who deleted it. Please avoid contentious editing and be civil or else an administrator may choose to block this account temporarily from editing in order to maintain order. Thanks, Wikidemo (talk) 17:33, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for being open to discuss this. Just noting that you inserted it a third time after you saw the above.[1] Please review WP:CONSENSUS and WP:EW, and stop. I will not revert again but it is likely someone will soon. If you continue you will be in violation of WP:3RR so please be careful. The requirement to avoid edit warring is entirely separate to whether the content should or should not be in the article, but if you must know the problem with the information, even if sourced, is that it has entirely too much WP:WEIGHT in proportion to the overall notability of Barack Obama. Thanks, Wikidemo (talk) 18:06, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This[2] is the fourth time you've inserted the material so that puts you in violation of WP:3RR. It's too late to self-revert so it's quite possible your account would be blocked at this time. To avoid that you might want to signal that you got the message and will be discussing the matter on the talk page instead of continuing to revert. Please do be careful about the rules around here. They're meant to keep the article stable and avoid disputes. Thanks, Wikidemo (talk) 18:29, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...and #5[3]. Now's a good chance to stop. Please notice the people who are objecting to the material are not against Obama, they simply don't think that article is the right place for that material. Wikidemo (talk) 18:31, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warning
Warning

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you.

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 18:25, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

July 2008[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule. Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

Image:Barack Obama in Afghanistan.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Barack Obama in Afghanistan.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Obama playing basketball[edit]

The basketball picture you referred to on my talk page is a public domain image, rather than a screenshot you claimed was "fair use". -- Scjessey (talk) 10:53, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your personal images[edit]

If you have some pictures you took yourself, that would be awesome. Please consider uploading the best of them to the Wikimedia Commons and releasing them to the public domain so that we can incorporate one or more of them into the Obama-related articles. -- Scjessey (talk) 11:15, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moving of pages in other people's userspace[edit]

Perhaps you should ask for permission before you move pages in other people's userspace. To move all userboxes to a central location is probably not a good idea anyway (there was a massive debate about userboxes in 2006 and I would like to not have that start again). Kusma (talk) 08:57, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For example here, you moved the page User:PHDrillSergeant/Userboxes/USA OR6 (a subpage of the user page of PHDrillSergeant) to a different location. Usually, it is not considered polite to move (or even edit) pages that belong to other editors. See WP:UP#OWN. If you don't like the fact that some military userboxes are in PHDrillSergeant's userspace, you can also just go ahead and write your own replacement userboxes. Kusma (talk) 11:26, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please remain civil in discussions.[edit]

Even though you may feel strongly about a subject, remember to always remain civil when discussing it. Calling other editors "Nazis" as you did on Talk:Barack Obama is not constructive and will ultimately just hurt your argument. --Loonymonkey (talk) 14:47, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox move[edit]

Hi Ron John! I just noticed that you moved the userboxes I made a while ago to a different userspace. You seem upset that these military userboxes are hosted in my space. Just so you know, I created most of these userboxes, when I was in the military myself.

You seem very concerned that what I did was "disrespectful". No disrespect was meant to the US military. In fact, I meant every respect--that is why I created the boxes in the first place.

Please leave my userboxes where they are. If you'd like to copy one, go right ahead, but please don't edit my userspace. Thanks! ~ PHDrillSergeant...§ 16:06, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was given no warnings, there was no discussion, Harro5 said this was blatant advertising so I was fixing the article so it doesn't appear to be advertising. I'm confused on how this is advertising when wikipedia has Orbit Downloader and that's not considered advertising, but it's freeware as well. I would agree to this block if I was given some kind of waring or a discussion started or something but I was blocked immediately without warning.

Decline reason:

There are several warnings on this talk page. No discussion is necessary when deleting articles that do not include any assertion of notability or when deleting articles that are obvious advertisements. I see that you have created many articles that broke these rules and were deleted, and that warnings were not effective in persuading you to familiarize yourself with those rules and follow them. Since warnings were not effective, a block was the only way to stop you from creating further inappropriate articles; please use your 24-hour block to read those rules carefully, so you won't break them again. — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:51, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Proposed deletion of Revo Uninstaller[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Revo Uninstaller, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. justinfr (talk/contribs) 18:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image talk:Vulva labeled.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image talk:Vulva labeled.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Arthur J. Cooperman.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Arthur J. Cooperman.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:03, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Media Takeout Logo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Media Takeout Logo.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 06:13, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
