Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

1913 Catholic Encyclopedia

Hi Josey, I appreciate your thanks for my (re)creation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Hyacinthe article. If you are interested, there are other articles here: Category:Articles incorporating text from the 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia with no article parameter which could use some enhancement by adding the Wikisource title to the template used. An example of one I did recently is Bentivoglio family. I use the Copyvio detector here https://copyvios.toolforge.org/ (using the Wikipedia article name and URL of the Wikisource article, e.g. https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Catholic_Encyclopedia_(1913)/Family_of_Bentivoglio ) to see which blocks of text from there are used. Why shouldn't she have a page? And why actively delete her page?

She's talked about on Sky Sports regularly.

She's the wife of world-famous retired footballer and coach, Ray Lewington, whose most recent positions include those at Crystal Palace and England.

She's an important fixture in the footballing world.

Hi ErrorHound People need no be notable in their own right per notability guidelines and that notability needs to be demonstrated in the article with references to multiple third party reliable sources that speak about her in depth. To retrieve the contents of a deleted article if you want to re-work it, you would need to contact the administrator who deleted it here. Hi Idoghor Melody, thank you for your contributions. The only one of the above that I reviewed was Nkwelle-Ezunaka which is fine as a geo-stub, it could use more references (for example a newspaper report) as it is barely mentioned in the reference in the article. The other articles look well laid out and you seem to have put in a lot of effort, however music and entertainment is well outside my area of expertize (I usually review football, military, geography, history and some Irish topics) so I'll have to leave them for another reveiwer that knows what is notable in these areas. Don't worry if they don't get reviewed for a while as we a dealing with a large backlog of new pages at the moment. Have a great time editing and creating! The new page has been reviewed, thank you for making it - I have request that the draft be deleted (you can do that yourself on any page you make and think it is wrong by replacing the content with {{Db-g7}} - in future if you make a mistake it is best to keep the original draft and improve it, as that keeps all the page history in the one place (there was not much in this case) you can ask any experienced user to move pages from draft to mainspace or the other way around (and you could do it yourself when you have a little more experience) Happy editing JW 1961 ^Talk 20:30, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi Mohammed12313893, Draft:DaniDev was declined by the reviewer Hoary on 20 September 2021 as not being supported by reliable sources. I am not a Draft article accepter/decliner - I only review new pages as they are published on the New Page Patrol. I nominated the mainspace article DaniDev for deletion for the same reason - Please note that youtube and his own website are not considered reliable sources (see WP:RS) and WP:RSP for help in what is reliable. The mainspace article has since been deleted by admin Liz - you can see the log here. You can continue to work on the article in Draft and submit for review again when sourced to independent, reliable sources. It would also be a good idea to look through WP:Notability to check if your subject is going to be able to pass the notability guidelines. Hello, I have no idea what I am doing. I am trying to make a page for Chris Charlton. You keep tagging my pages. I fix what you tag and then you tag something else. All the sources you requested are about him. I gave direct links to the articles written about him proving he is real. Hi Kmellsas, welcome. As you are trying to create a biography of a living person it required sources which is why I first tagged it as an unsourced biography of a living person (see WP:BLP and Reliable Sources for help on this). The second problem, and why it was tagged again is that it appears to an almost exact 89.4% copy of another web page - which is not allowed so please see WP:COPYVIO for help in this area. As a new user it would be best to create your first few article at Articles for creation where you would get help and advice along the way rather than just publishing to the main space where they would invariably be tagged by a reviewer. Hi Vitaium, This was an article that was recently deleted see CSDG4 meaning that it had already been deleted a few times and then recreated. Also the re-creation of the article did not prove notability WP:GNG (see CSDA7) by being sourced to multiple, independent reliable sources - you can see the page logs here and contact the deleting administrator (top name on the list) if you wish to challenge the deletion.
