jewish washington post reporter who once jokingly called clinton a name

Oddly, my edits were appropriate for a wide variety previously discussed in talk but not addressed in the article proper. Reasons for the cuts were not limited to trimming non-significant, yet inflammatory statements of various kinds. Dear Jim1138,

I am answering your message that you sent me yesterday concerning the changes made to the wikipedia page on Deimantas Narkevičius. For the past week I've been uploading material daily, since previously the information was very limited. I have doubled-checked some facts, ran a spell check with Grammarly and included new substantial material. I am not sure which change in particular you are talking about, perhaps you could be more specific. If it was about a long qoute on chapter "Revisiting Solaris", I have shortened it so that it would fit into 250 word limit (wikipedia standarts). It was also I who uploaded it in the first place. I try to leave a comment after each edit, it might be that I forgot once or twice. I hope that clarifies your concerns.

Best regards,

ANI Experiences survey

The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (led by the Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) is conducting a survey for en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Jim1138.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 21:33, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of "Shahab Khan"

Shahab Khan, a page you created, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for biographies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content that complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content, or remove the speedy deletion tag from the page. You can contest the deletion by clicking the "Contest this speedy deletion" button inside the speedy deletion tag. THE FOUR PREPS Wikipedia Page Updates

Weird, I wrote a response on my talk page and it disappeared!

Anyhow, the edits I made on THE FOUR PREPS page all come directly from founding member of the group BRUCE BELLAND. It doesn't get any closer to the source than that -- he lived it (and is still around to tell about it)! I work with Bruce and maintain THE FOUR PREPS website as well as help him with his newsletters and other things tech. This Wikipedia editing is new for me, so let me know what we need to do to get the facts verified and the page updated with the changes I submitted yesterday. Thanks! --Rob

Iran and state sponsored terrorism: khobar towers bombing

There isn't sufficient proof Iran was behind the khobar towers bombing. William Perry, who was the United States Secretary of Defense at the time that this bombing happened, said in an interview in June 2007 that "he now believes al-Qaida rather than Iran was behind a 1996 truck bombing at an American military base." Even if you think about it logically, all of the other attacks were carried out in retaliation to something. There was no reason Iran/hezbollah would go through all the trouble to carry out an attack without a meaning/demand behind it. This was just fake allegations by the US and the Saudis to cover up al-Qaeda.

The khobar towers bombing bullet point should be removed from the wiki "Iran and state sponsored terrorism."

In addition , the topic of it being a people rather than a race, most historical church-related inter-religious conflict was with Talmudic Jews on the basis of the Talmud, rather than their being Hebrew racially, on account of the Torah saying Jesus is burning in excrement in hell (amongst other antagonistic beliefs such as him being a sorcerer - Sanhedrin 43a), which can be found at Gittin 56b-57a (for context jesus is often referred to as Yeshu by Talmudic Jews), which antagonized Christians. Eventually these were often removed from the Torah by Talmudic Jews living in Christian societies as a result. For if it was on the basis of their race then surely they would not be offered the opportunity to convert (and so be saved), proof of which can be found for example in 1391 Castille where around 200,000 Talmudic Jews converted to Christianity , proof of which can be found at : Gedaliah b. Jachia the Spaniard, Sefer Shalshelet HaKabbalah, p. 268, Jerusalem 1962, while citing Sefer HaYuchasin. This is thus entirely seperate from racism and a completely different matter and must not be lumped in with later events such as the Holocaust which was racially rather than religiously based. This does need to be added in as the current page does not address this nuance, which i feel it ought to in order to offer more detail. I await approval before adding this in lest you remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cerdic1096 (talkcontribs) 00:24, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

thanks

Thanks for letting me know this was a problem. I had seen that picture title change several times by someone else in a short period and that led to my learning how easy it is to form an account and edit an article. I had changed someone's edit from Maths Born to Max Born, but then thought perhaps I was interfering with what seemed to be a very good advertising strategy to teach a reader how easy it is to change something on a page and to motivate someone to try it out. And then thought I was perhaps in error for reverting it back to normal as perhaps there was something happening in this community I did not know about and we were supposed to make up something. Sorry about the unintended vandalism as that is what it seems to be called when deliberate errors are introduced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12102017hw (talkcontribs) 09:14, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Disruptive as in stating facts?

Why doesnt the article state the fact transgender (must use the acceptable term) have extremely high rates of mental disorders/illness (whats the term you like to use? ). Is this because the fact of extremely high rate of mental disorders/illness of transgenders is not "politically correct" its only true!--ArnoldHimmler (talk) 09:12, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

@ArnoldHimmler: I haven't seen any wp:reliable source (RS) that makes that claim. Blogs are not RS. If you can't find an RS, maybe the problem is elsewhere? Jim1138 (talk) 09:16, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

No you dont want to see a reputable source, shoved right in your face and you claim blog. Blog is how you handle things you dont like? Have you tried using google and seen what the experts say? (Why go that far when you can say blog all the time!)

Newspapers are blog (if you dont agree with them?) https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/dec/08/transgender-survey-suicide-poverty-unemployment-mental-health

Groups of professional and their organisations https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-truth-about-exercise-addiction/201612/why-transgender-people-experience-more-mental-health

Even pro transexual sites say so https://www.nami.org/Find-Support/LGBTQ

--ArnoldHimmler (talk) 09:31, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

@ArnoldHimmler: You are engaging in wp:synthesis Every group has mental health issues. That transgender people experience more issues or have a higher suicide rate does not mean they all have a mental disorder. There are probably trans that are more mentally stable than you or I. Just out of curiosity, why is this such a big deal for you? Seriously? Jim1138 (talk) 09:40, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Would you please stop making false claim about what I said! "That transgender people experience more issues or have a higher suicide rate" AGAIN You agree with the fact I stated transgender people do have higher rates of

"does not mean they all have a mental disorder." This is mistake I did not claim this, so clearly you are either not reading what I said or a liar!

"Just out of curiosity, why is this such a big deal for you? Seriously?" WOW I asked you whats your agenda why, why you are biased, why do you want to keep this fact from the article (as politically correct people have done before)

I want it to be correct! Now you have agreed with the fact do you agree with it being put in the article?--ArnoldHimmler (talk) 09:55, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Response

In response to what you posted on my talk page concerning the article on Urinary catheterization, you are reminded that if you feel that way, you are still required to obtain consensus on the article talk page before removing any edits. The requirement for said consensus is clear wikipedia policy. Therefore, I will give you the option to resinstate my edits, or I will reinstate them on grounds of vandalisim because you didn't follow policy. That said, your objection to said edits are those in which you may insert a "Citation needed" tag, which would be more appropriate, since my edits represent the current practice in the majority of hospitals in the United States, Canada, and the UK- and follow extension of basic medical theory concerning aseptic technique. Perhaps you should read carefully the policy on the "Citation needed" tag. Again, I will give you the chance to reinstate my edits on your own Vs. my doing it for you under the vandalism policy for your failure to obtain consensus. 108.201.29.108 (talk) 19:50, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

AGAIN, it appears you need to review the policy concerning the "citation needed" tag. Widely-known knowledge and the practice within the medical community may be placed within an article and shall not be removed, but the citation needed tag may be added. The policy, in pertinent part, quotes as follows:

"If a statement sounds plausible, and is consistent with other statements in the article, but you doubt that it is totally accurate, then consider making a reasonable effort to find a reference yourself. In the process, you may end up confirming that the statement needs to be edited or deleted to better reflect the best knowledge about the topic."

Therefore, in order to substantiate your claim here, you'd have to first suggest that the edits in question weren't plausible. The policies you state concerning "References" are subject to, and notwithstanding of, the policy delineated above, by implication of the purpose of the "Citation needed" tag. Therefore, your modifications of my edits were clearly wrongful under the established policy, without having first obtained at least some consensus that the edits weren't plausible. Rather, it appears that what you're trying to do here is challenge material simply because of your profound lack of knowledge of the basics of the subject matter, which is inappropriate. 108.201.29.108 (talk) 21:25, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

North Africa

hey, I hope we can work together and not go back and fourth in a edit war. If you have any question in regard to any of of edit or reasoning please let me know I will send you link with explaining for proof or everything. Also, Please do not remove Sudan from the list of north Africa. it is part of North Africa by the U.S Census definition and U.N. I removed the map because it did not reflect that. The world bank link did not provide a definition and the world bank most certainly can not compare to the U.S Census and U.N. I think logically the most trusted and accepted definition should be that of the U.S census and U.N. Look I love Egypt too, however I will not throw Sudan under the bus. again, if you have any question inregard to any of my edit please talk to me we can work it out with facts. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mameab1989 (talkcontribs) 09:32, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

North Africa edit

Hello,

I have sent you a massage if you have any question inregard to any of my edits we can work it out through reasoning and facts from the historical text we have available. if you think that any of the link I have add is wrong let me know. again Nubians are an ethnic group of Ancient Egypt and they are the one that build all the Egyptian civilization in the South go to Luxor or Aswan and anywhere from Giza and under you will see Nubians. I think you are mistaken Nubians for Nuba. The Nubians are the major Ethnic Group of Egypt that build the civilization Nuba is not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mameab1989 (talkcontribs) 09:38, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

Haitian Creole

Haitian creole evolved from 18th century northern French dialects spoken by the French settlers. There are no structural influences from Portuguese, Spanish, English and especially Taino. That line is confusing people into thinking and arguing that Haitian creole is a mixture of languages. It is not.

There are enough misconceptions on creoles and we should avoid adding to the confusion.

The language like all languages borrowed a few words from other languages......lately mostly from American English.

Every phrase in Haitian Creole can be de-creolized back to French. It is a French based Creole period.

Anyone fluent in both French and Haitian Creole will see the direct connection. Dave Lopes (talk) 04:26, 22 December 2017 (UTC) Dave Lopes (talk) 04:26, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

moving a page

Hi!

I saw your message about not moving a page by cut/paste. I want to move "Traditions of Catalonia" to "Culture of Catalonia" so it is in tune with the rest of regions and cultures. The problem is that "Culture of Catalonia" already exists and it points to "Catalonia". Could you help me doing that?

William Trickett Smith false information

Hi Jim,

Apologies for my oversight with regards to the edit summary. I am still learning the processes involved in Wikipedia editing. Essentially, the information on the William Trickett Smith page is false. I'll reproduce the statements on the page demonstrating how they are false. At all times, keep in mind there was two trials- one was Smith's own trial, and the second was Dwyer's trial. Smith's trial preceded Dwyer's.

1.) "Smith's testimony in the Pennsylvania CTA scandal federal trial was largely used to obtain the conviction of Pennsylvania Treasurer R. Budd Dwyer in the case".

This is correct. This concerns Smith's testimony at Dwyer's trial.

2.) "Smith later admitted in an interview shown in Honest Man: The Life of R. Budd Dwyer that he had lied under oath about Dwyer taking a bribe in order to receive a reduced sentence".

This is absolutely false. In the documentary Smith states that he lied in HIS OWN trial when he asserted that he did not offer Dwyer a bribe. In the documentary, he says that he DID in fact offer Dwyer a bribe, and testified to offering Dwyer a bribe at Dwyer's trial. In the documentary, Smith reiterates- not recants- the testimony he gave in Dwyer's trial- that he did in fact offer Dwyer a bribe. Smith has never stated that he "lied under oath about Dwyer taking a bribe in order to receive a reduced sentence", although he does state, in the documentary, that he regrets offering Dwyer the bribe: "To the day I die, I'll regret that I did it".Stanzsd 14:43, 22 December 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stanzsd (talkcontribs)

Merca

Hello, regarding my recent edit of merca, i have restored the version of the page as it was before the start of the confusion. As you might observe from the edit summary, the page was stable as pertaining to a passage in article for a long time, from a couple of years ago all the way up to september 10ths [4], the article showed that Merca was founded by "biimaal clan". However on the secember the 10th, this edit was made, which claims to be sourced but which source we cannot verify, [5][6][7][8] as you can see it changes a the passage "described merca as Capital of benaadiri country" to "described merca as Capital of hawiyya country" and more of what apperars to be disrputive edits, these edits completely changed the passage pertaining to who founded the city of Merka, but without verifiable evidence, and if there is a edit changing who founded this city you would think that there is strong verifiable evidence to support that claim, however these edits gave none, in fact what was given to support it was something no other editers can verify [9]

From subsequent edits from other users, some have returned it to the previous versions before these controversial changes but to no avail as the edit keeps getting reinstated. This is the reason i have restored it to the version before the controversial edits showed above were made. I hope this clears confusion

So i'm requesting that you observe the edit history i've provided above and accept the version before the edit war, and subsequently other users who wish to keep these edits can engage in the talk page of the article to resolve their issues there.

Thanks CabuuwaaqWanaag (talk) 08:01, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

@CabuuwaaqWanaag: Please have this discussion on talk:Merca. I am not interested in engaging you here. See help:talk pages and wp:talk page guidelines Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 08:05, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
Thats precicely my point, a consensus must have been reached before the changes i've shown above has been made. Its not good practice to reinstate passages that are not sourced and preempt users who are correcting the mistake CabuuwaaqWanaag (talk) 08:08, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
@CabuuwaaqWanaag: Did you happen to read the content of the message I left you regarding your edit? What part of that has anything to do with your message here? Jim1138 (talk) 08:10, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
No offence but are you blind? You left a message on my talk page telling me that you've preempted an edit i made and went on to say i've not explained my edit, you then go on to say "you're free to ask me any questions on my talk page", and here i am, explaining in depth the reason why i've made such changes and you're getting confused CabuuwaaqWanaag (talk) 08:15, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
@CabuuwaaqWanaag: It says to leave an wp:edit summary (ES) explaining why. It does not say anything about explaining why on my talk page. Such explanations belong on the ES or the article's talk page. Jim1138 (talk) 08:17, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
Are you saying an edit summary explanation would've been sufficient? CabuuwaaqWanaag (talk) 08:21, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
@CabuuwaaqWanaag: For me, probably. For others, I don't know. Your ES could always contain "see talk" Jim1138 (talk) 08:22, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

Chris Barber

Hello Jim,

You have undone the update to the Chris Barber page, mentioning I didn't provide a source. That's wrong! I provided a sourse, namely the Chris Barber official website~, which is updatet recently. The information there about the line up is right. It really needs to be done, since Jackie Flavelle is dead, and so no longer a member of the band. So I changed it again. Please let us have the correct names of the actual members. Kind regards, Bert Brandsma 86.91.62.14 (talk) 04:38, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Kindly create your Vietnamese version of Nanyue History

If you would like to have Vietnamese history page, Kindly create your Vietnamese version of Nanyue History and you can link it to the Chinese version. Please do not mix or mess up the Chinese history with the Vietnamese version. kindly learn more about the ethnicity in the Lingnan Region, the majority of ethnic in that region were and are Sino-Tibetan, Zhuang (Dai-Kadai), Miao (Miao-Yao) speakers in Guangxi, Guangdong and Yunnan, there isn't any Vietic speakers in that region. Vietnamese was and is only living in the area of Jiaozhi and later separated from the Chinese dynasty as a protectorate state or kingdom. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:288:7001:10E0:186D:C510:189C:EC8C (talk) 09:30, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Stop messing the Chinese history and the Vietnamese history

If you would like to have Vietnamese history page, kindly create a new one. The old Nanyue consists of Han, Miao, Zhuang, Dai, Yi and etc. not only Vietnamese, Vietnamese only living at the southernmost of Nanyue, call Jiaozhi, and today's vietnam is the expansion of modern Vietnamese. Linguistically, Chinese and Vietnamese grammar is totally different, Nanyue in Chinese is Southern Yue, and there is another Yue is Min-Yue in the northern coast, Yuenan (today's Vietnam) in Chinese is South of Yue, a region located at the southern most of Yue, please do not distort the fact and mess the Chinese history with the Vienamese version. Watch this documentary about Nanyue Kingdom, ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=625TaSyVkxE ), the archeological items have evidence got nothing to do with Vietnamese, it's the Kingdom established by Qin Army general after Qin collasped, but later submitted to Han dynasty. The whole Lingnan area is not solely the Vietnamese, there are many southern ethnic, including the majority of Zhuang, Miao and Dai. The Zhuang has contributed more to the Chinese history and not the Vietnamese.

BLP violations on Max Landis

I see you recently restored accusations of sexual assult to Max Landis using Huggle. The reason you gave was "unexplained removal". My Changes to article "Zambia"

The following words were added to make the article more accurate with regard to the sixth president of Zambia (Edgar Chagwa Lungu): "spuriously", "fraudulently" and "purportedly." How can a reference be provided for a word that simply clarifies or corrects a false impression? The reference I give is the Oxford Dictionary and the truth about the political situation in Zambia as confirmed by the BBC (ref interview between Stephen Sackur and Hakainde Hichilema on HARDtalk). The final amendment/addition was the statement: "The vast majority of Zambians do not consider Lungu as legitimate president." This was expressed in the 2016 Presidential Election which was rigged by the PF and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (aka Electoral Corruption of Zambia). I also hereby invoke the song by a vibrant artist/activist (nicknamed Pilato), who eloquently expresses similar sentiments in his recent song entitled "Koswe Mumpoto." I am a sponsor and ardent advocate of Wikipedia. I would never engage in vandalism or unscrupulous activity. Hooliganism or thuggery is quite simply not my style. I hope this statement suffices to clarify my motivation for editing the article.

Waaijenberg

Hello Jim1138

You reverted my contributions to the Waaijenberg article. In the article the founder of the Waaijenberg is twice identified as Kees Waaijenberg. This is wrong.

The founder was Wout Waaijenberg, father of the racing driver Dick Waaijenberg.

The business used to be a bicycle/moped shop; in the Sixties they started importing Reliant Robin into The Netherlands (I have a newspaper ad from August 1966).

Response

That's all good and all, BUT NO- I'm not buying into that argument. The burden is on the person that wants to change someone's edits to obtain community consensus. There is NOT to be "Unilateral" modification of someone else's contribution Without consensus. Simply because you FEEL that policy is on your side does not make it so- you need to have consensus with at least two other people before unilaterally modifying someone else's work. Technically, if we wanted to have it your way insofar as your attempting to read policy, We could have then removed large sections (to the tune of 75-80 percent or better) from that article because it had very little sourcing in terms of "references". Really all your trying to do is start problems with people. You need to sit down and stay off other people's edits without coming to them FIRST. Thank you. 108.201.29.108 (talk) 20:13, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Would you please consider becoming an Articles for Creation reviewer? Articles for Creation reviewers help new users learn the ropes of creating their first articles, and identify whether topics are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Reviewing drafts doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia inclusion policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task.
