Well done!

By my count, you have got 25 articles through DYK (discounting nominations) with Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve. So:

File:Ambewela.JPEG listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:Ambewela.JPEG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Horton plains

Looks good, I'll do a copy edit.

  • Although the park area receives an even rainfall throughout the year, a dry season persists from January-March. doesn't make sense
  • images need WP:Alt text. This is to describe the images for people who cannot see them. See Eurasian Sparrowhawk as a recent example. The text should not repeat the caption and should just describe what is seen, eg Grassland with an elephant or similar
  • You don't need retrieval dates for books or on-line versions of journals and other "real" publications, since their content is fixed. Just for websites with potentially changing content.
  • The local population who resided in the lowlands ascended the mountains to mine gems, extract iron ore, construct irrigational canal and fell trees for timber. no ref for this
  • In the first para of Flora, I lost my way a bit; I think it's unclear where the canopy description becomes the understory description
  • The genus of this species is not yet determined I can see that there might be doubt whether it is a subspecies or full species, but surely the genus is known? I can't see where this is in the reference either

I'll add more points as I go. A peer review is good if you have time Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:18, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

My pleasure, please check these changes. I'll have another read through when you have had a chance to fix the issues above. It's a super area, though very cold an hour before dawn in February. Still, we did get to see all the endemic birds Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:54, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
One more, stone tools mentioned in lead, but not in history section Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:59, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
The bad news is that now you have my interest, I'm likely to keep tweaking the text! I very much appreciate the offer to co-nom, but that's more common at FAC than GAN, so I'm happy for you to go solo. Obviously I'll help out when the article is reviewed if I can. Perhaps discussion of the article should be on its talk page henceforth, so that it's accessible to other editors/reviewers? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:13, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Proposed CSDs

Hi,

Several listed articles in the Category:Old Nalandians where proposed CSD by me, due to what I deemed lack of notability. Most of these articles have no RSs or follow any wiki guild lines in its formats. All have been created by the same editor in what I saw as a effort to populated the Category:Old Nalandians. Adding bios of notable people was not the intent here. Would love your feed back on this thanks. Cossde (talk) 14:14, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Sri Lanka

Hi there

It appears you are interested in Sri Lanka article. I recently added unicode characters instead of images. I cannot read Sinhala, can you please check if my edits are correct.

Also, it appears that you reverted an edit (the edit deleted mention of the number of poor people in Sri Lanaka). When I went through India and Ethiopia, countries more well-known for their poverty, such mentions were not made.

I also need your help in finding out what needs to be done to make Sri Lanka a featured article. Can you indicate where I can find the discussion which lead to loss of candidacy?Supreme Unmanifest (talk) 15:21, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Provinces of Sri Lanka

Temple of the Tooth

Hey Chanaka, I'm sorry I haven't done anything with this article as I've promised. After several visits to the Colombo library, I'm still unable to find any decent sources for this. Looks like help is not going to come from me anytime soon. ≈ Chamal talk ¤ 05:06, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

How about this! You may like to add to the draft expanded artcile here User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 1 for joint posting on DYK. I will transfet it to main space after you have added to it or wikified it. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 15:15, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Here is another article draft on Kutch Bustard Sanctuary at User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 1. I will transfer it to the main space as a joint article after you complete your inputs. But I want you to nominate it. You may consider introducing some more images of vegetation and fauna, apart from vetting the iucn information. Flora section may also need some supplementation, if you can find references. Let me know at your earliest. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 07:55, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about it. Your note at the head of this page mislead me. Please change it. Thanks for addtional edits. DYK is through.

Hi. Can you salvage this from deletion? I think it could probably be expande dinto a decent article? ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 00:56, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

hi, why did you undo the link to that brilliant batiks page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.142.200.182 (talk) 18:38, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I removed it because of our policies defined as Wikipedia is not a collection of external links and means of promotion. Do not add such external links again. However I invite you to contribute in a constructive way to the article. Regards--Chanaka L (talk) 03:05, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

My favourite instrumental rock album. Check out this. Listen to the first five tracks. Now compare the guitar to most bands around these days. 1000 times more talented. Let me know what you think. I'd strongly recommend this album. Its really good to chill out to too. I am addicted to playing along with Neal Schon and Larry Carlton CDs now! ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 10:18, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, what do want additional comments about. There seems to be no contention in your review. Jezhotwells (talk) 18:46, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

so you aren't doing the review? OK, I will take the second opinion tag off the GAN page. Jezhotwells (talk) 12:39, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

I hope this time you would be able to join me on this article at User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 1. Reference 2 is giving me trouble and needs to be fixed. Red links need to be fixed. You are the expert in this field. You can add and delete to suit the article heading. Let me know when you are done with your inputs so that I can move it to main space for posting on DYK as joint article. This artcile also has partial relevance to Sri Lanka. --Nvvchar (talk) 14:51, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I have added some more text from this reference [2]. There is more in this reference about the "Dancing Bears". Would it be WP:Undue, if added? The geography and climate aspect is still not adequately covered. I am searching references for the same. If you find any details on this please add. I will move it to main space later in the evening for you to nominate it on DYK, if I can't find any more additional material. Let me know your views on the additions made now.Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 08:07, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Moved to main space. Pl post it with a suitable hook and img on DYK.--Nvvchar (talk) 10:00, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Fine. Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 11:16, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Sri Lanka

My parents just came back from Sri Lanka and the Maldives. They loved it! They were particularly impressed with the wildlife sanctuaries and my dad said "every twenty feet or so there was a new animal or bird! They also said the people were really lovely! As I type I am munching on some salted cashews made by Cargills. Perhaps we should have an article on them? ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 10:25, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Can't afford it! Expensive holiday! Yes Cargills Ceylon PLC. Glad we have an article on it. I also have some Rancrisp sweet peanut squares... They tell me that the majority of the population are Buddhist. I didn't know that, I thought the majority were Hindu or Muslim actually.. Did you check out the Neal Schon CD after? Also you'd like On Solid Ground. Check out this. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 11:06, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Glad you enjoyed it. Yep I think your knowledge of Wales is probably greater than mine of Sri Lanka. Its probably because I haven't seen much coverage of Buddhist monasteries in Sri Lanka as I have in like northern India and Nepal... If there are many missing I'd like to get them started on here.. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 12:39, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Yep I think you'd like Wales. During the summer when the sun is actually shining driving along the coast and breathing the cool air from the sea is very theraputic. Walking through the green Welsh meadows in the Vale.. Have a read of Tinkinswood. I can walk to it from my house. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 12:51, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Yala

I've tidied a bit. definitely needs work. The reddot source is not RS, but presumably the park has its own lists? Pity about the IUCN, not sure how to get round that. images in gallery should be integrated with text or lost. If you are thinking of working up to GA, let me know, and I'll help. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:09, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

The lists are too long to be easily incorporated in the text, I'd be inclined to have the full lists as separate articles (which would also avoid RS problems in the main article, and just mention particularly notable species in the article text. external links

i added relevant external links... they are all about the page, in this case matara. so stop deleting them. you will find many external links in other wikipedia articles... putting them on isn't an offense! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 05theben (talkcontribs) 18:03, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Please read WP:OTHERLINKS. Commercial websites hardly considered legitimate external links. Without contributing to the article, adding links is atypical for a spammer behavior. P-lease understand that Wikipedia is not a business directory, it an encyclopedia. Please also bear in mind that continuing like this would result in blacklisting your site and block you from editing.--Chanaka L (talk) 04:35, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

legitamate links are links that are as i said, relevant. i am not promoting any business all im doing is informing the visitors about the local tourist attractions and it is up to them, the readers, whether or not to visit that page or in the end go there or not. Im not saying its the best attraction in matara - all im saying is its just another attraction. It isnt self promotion - im not promoting it! AND Even if i contribute to the article, You'll take it off! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 05theben (talkcontribs) 15:38, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm afraid, Wikipedia is not a travel guide either. Strictly speaking, an external link is a source referred to write an article by an editor, in the end he has ended up in not using it. You are not contributing to the body of text, you just keep adding it to external links. I'm afraid, it's just raw spamming. You definition of "local attraction" is unacceptable. Batik industry may be worth mention, but certainly not Batik businesses. It is wrong to say I take of your contributions. If you've wrote something in neutral point of view using a reliable source, then I am in no position to remove them. Please contribute constructively.--Chanaka L (talk) 06:20, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
