Honus Wagner

I could be a Sir, as I have a Knight in my background, hence my possible (very) distant relationship to User:Wknight94. The Old Dutchman is one of my favorite players, i.e. one of those that I'd like to watch playing the game if I had a time machine; and I agree that the article has had little justice done to it, considering Wagner was the "greatest star" of his day, according to Ty Cobb, no less, and was a charter member of the Hall of Fame. I also have to admit that I don't know that much about the details of Wagner's life. Maybe it's time I learned. There are lengthy articles about Cobb and Ruth, but seemingly not much more than bare bones about Wagner. There was a lot more to his career than his rare baseball card. This is not the best time, as I have a trip coming up. But go to the WP:Baseball page and pose the same challenge you put on my page and see if anyone bites. P.S. Willie Stargell was one of my favorite players also, except I actually got to see him play from time to time. And even if he did kill my Cubs in a crucial game in 1969. I'll be on the road until about mid-June. So, are you old enough to have seen "Pops" play? The thing is, I like home run hitters, and he hit some serious tape measure blows, long before there was anything called "steroids" circulating around the big leagues. I think he cleared the Forbes Field roof like 15 times in the relatively short time he played there before Three Rivers opened. And I may be wrong, but I think he launched a few into the upper deck at Three Rivers, which was not so easy to do. Back to Wagner, there is a biography from a few years back that I should re-read and learn more. But there should be plenty of sources around otherwise. I guess the dilemma with Wagner is that he retired before baseball became really "big" in the post-WWI era. Cobb played through most of the roaring twenties, so he was well-covered. That's the bio I was talking about. I would think it would provide most of the basics needed for the article. And don't wait on me, or anyone else - go for it. As for the Pirates, they have had serious ups and downs in their history. Unfortunately, in recent years they've been like they were in the late 1940s / early 1950s, when they had Ralph Kiner and almost literally nothing else, and lost a lot of games. But Branch Rickey worked some magic on those Pirates, just as he had on the Dodgers and the Cardinals before then, and it eventually paid off, although Rickey himself wasn't with the team by then. The first World Series I remember is 1960, although I didn't see Game 7 live because all the games were in the daytime in those days and that one was on a Thursday. However, Maz instantly became one of my favorite players, and I got tearful when he was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame (he got a bit tearful also). He was an excellent player. Clemente, though, was one of the all-time greats. He could hit for both power and average, and was deadly from right field if a runner tried to stretch to an extra base. What might he have further accomplished had he not boarded that overloaded plane trying to help in the Guatemalan relief effort? Anyway, in my lifetime I'm used to seeing the Pirates as winners, and it's really painful what has happened to them (kind of like what happened to the Orioles, another favorite). I won't have time to do anything with this until at least mid-June, so go for it. Wagner seems to have been a well-centered guy. Reminds me of some of the stories I've read about probably the greatest Cubs pitcher of all time, and another of my favorites, Mordecai Brown. He knew how good he was, but didn't get too full of himself, and was accessible to fans. Wagner was before my time. I've had the pleasure of meeting Hall-of-Famer Bob Feller a couple of times. Very down-to-earth guy, not only signing autographs (as he was paid to do at these promotions) but also chatting a bit, talking about the old days. hi yes i researched about slipknot and dimmu borgir and actually they played together already in august of 2005 if you go to painkillermag.com and search up dimmu borgir interveiw in english , but didn't find anything about them going to play with slipknot . people have already heard about this on wiki and started making blogs asking if its true that dimmu borgir is playing with them , but so far people have only been responding with crap

Hey. I recently added Christopher Lee onto the cast list, but then you removed him. What you didn't know is that it has been said on Christopher Lee's website's fourm that Christopher Lee IS returning as Count Dooku on the new animated Star Wars film. Here's what the administrator of the fourm said: "Mr. Lee has recorded the voice of Count Dooku for this movie a couple of months ago. Halo (series) FAC

Regarding addressing issues at the FAC, if you feel up to it, you're welcome to give it a shot. I'll help out where I can, but the FAC reviewers have gotten much stricter than they were a few months ago, especially on video game related articles. If I had more time, I'd say let's do it with or without David, but I don't really have that liberty right now. So I hope you don't take offense if I'd feel more comfortable with David helping out since he's been participating and keeping up in FACs throughout the whole tightening of the criteria and is one of the more knowledgeable Halo editors.

PS- I hope this didn't come across as condescending or rude as that was not my intent. I'm just worried that it may be more than just the two of us can handle, and I know the FAC reviewers have been complaining about ill-prepared video game articles taking up resources at FAC. Like I said, if you think it can make it, go for it. I know there are a lot more MoS issues than the ones brought up right now. I'll help out as best I can, but I know for a fact that the next week and a half for me will not provide me with much free time. Josh Brainard's number

Hey man, I don't want an edit war or nothing over this, but I'm almost certain Slipknot's ex-guitarist Josh Brainard was the band's original #4. Your statement of being pretty sure the band members weren't numbered while Josh was still in the band got me interested in trying to confirm it (I've heard about how Greg Welts was the original #3, and how Sid was the last musician of his specialty to join, prompting his choice number to come down either #0 or #9 since he wasn't assuming a departing member's number). Anyways, I found a few pictures of Josh in his jumpsuit, clearly sporting on his shoulder a circle with something inside, but most images were from an angle where you can only assume the features of a "4". Then I found this photo. Again, it isn't a full-on "4", but you can clearly see the right half of the number, worn by a guitarist masked by a bondage hood. James Root had his hair colored pink during the time he was using Josh's mask, so it couldn't be him. What do you think? Vixen Windstorm (talk) 03:42, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, those are some good points. You're right about probably inciting confusion with multiple people listed with the same number, on the same album. If we can be sure about his or any other former member's number, it's probably something notable on their respective articles, but as for personnel sections, I don't really know how we should go about it. If his number is correct, Josh would be the dominant #4 of the album, as he recorded every song except the removed "Purity", but was uncredited; James recorded only one song, and any pressing of the album beyond December '99 does not feature him at all, despite being credited. I've been rewriting the articles for band members over the last few days, and up next is Shawn whenever I have the patience later on. But anyways, I'll get to rewriting the former members' articles as well once I get there. Even if you guys end up choosing to merge their articles, I'm just saying that if their size is or the way they read is the problem, I'll definitely be reworking them soon enough. In my opinion they should read like traditional Slipknot members (Personal life and career, Masks, Discography sections, etc), which at the moment they don't look very well put together. Okay just to follow up, I finished the re-writes for the members' articles. Some of the former members' articles were kind of tough since people like Donnie Steele have pretty much less of a background than Craig, hah. I'm just going through the genres of the articles now, but that's nothing major. Just one thing, do you think that the equipment used by the members are notable? And as for genres, I'm just taking the genres from albums the members appeared on, and for outside bands of current and former members, and filling them in the genre field of each member's articles. That way there shouldn't be too much trouble with that, unless someone snuck a completely inaccurate genre into one of the albums/outside band articles, but if so I'm sure I'll pick up on that lol. And as for the additional credits, in the case of MFKR, the album credits Sean McMahon and Frank Plumley as providing "Dogfish Rising" verses. On mfkr1.com, I was reading about how Shawn did his "Buffalo Bill" bit for the song, and sure enough towards the end of the song, an "It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again," and such are clearly audible, so I figured he should get the credit on the personnel section as well. What do you mean "they"? The contributions Shawn made, or his contributions along with McMahon and Plumley's? Because the latter two are cited in the liner notes of MFKR, though Shawn wasn't; then again there were far more than two or three contributors to "Dogfish Rising". I just came upon the mention of Shawn as having done the Buffalo Bill verse which actually appears in the song, and included it in the article. Hours later lol, but I cited Shawn's confirmation of doing vocals on the full-length version of "Danger - Keep Away". I also used the same interview as a citation in Shawn's article for his having taken credit for the band's use of masks and jumpsuits, and for coining the term "maggot" (it was a very interesting interview lol). Well I found a mention of it on black-goat.com, along with Paul, but other than that, I don't think I can find an interview, or such source mentioning these contributions. It would have to be an old statement, considering the band hardly even comment on the album in interviews, or refer to the band's situation at the time, instead of specifically what went on during the actual recording of MFKR. About WTON... I don't have much at all on it, seriously. I think it will be just like Slipknot Demo... put it this way I have less info on WTON than I do that demo. All I have really are sources to back up whatever is already in that article. I suppose we could make a Reception section discussing the fact it hit number one of the billboard video charts and that.. and also about it going platinum. We also need a Release History section... I have both versions so don't worry about that. I guess we could turn the info regarding its contents in to prose maybe.. like a "Content" section or something with a better name. I can't find no reviews though, I even looked through my stack of mags that were dated around that time. I don't think this needs to an AoF now that I think of it. I've done all I can with the Welcome to Our Neighborhood article and I think it only meets C class because the sections are so short due to a lack of sources. It's incredible, I never realised how little this has been talked about. Anyway, we don't need all articles to be GA standard you know. We just have to know that they are well written, factually right and sourced well. We may as well just focus on AHIP, psychosocial and MFKR and 9.0 live as they are GAC right now before we decide upon the next AoF but I suggest we do Disasterpieces, I'm sure we'll have enough sources for that. OK while I'm here I was thinking about the past members thing and I think we should make a section of prose name "Past members" on the Slipknot band members and remove all their respective articles because I think it's better to have a really good article (ie Slipknot band members) than to have two mediocre articles (ie "Slipknot band members" and "Past Slipknot members" or whatever). I was also thinking that we should our own logo for Slipknot project kind of like Wikipedia:WikiProject U2 or WP:HALO you know to go in the talk page templates and stuff like that, what do you think?
