Bottom of the page shows in "edit page" mode but not in "regular mode"

When I open the page Jazmin I find the last parts missing, including the templates put there. But, when I open the page in "edit page" all of the missing part is still there, including the whole filmograpy. How do I get it right, and make the whole article appear in regular mode (i.e. reading or non-editing mode)? (Aditya Kabir 20:30, 23 June 2006 (UTC))

Help me to put proper Fair Use Rationale for the picture Image:Shahbag Thana.jpg.

I can't see that there is one. You uploaded it so if you don't have a proper fair use rationale I doubt anyone else will. Not to mention that using an image to illustrate it's subject generally doesn't come under fair use. --pgk 16:32, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Help me to format the table on Shahbag. I don't have enough grasp of wikicodes to do it myself. I'd love to:

  1. have it wrapped, so text flows by its side
  2. have the font of the Title enlarged, and the font size of the list reduced
  3. have some color put to the table
  4. have width of the column defined
  5. and, may be, have the lines between each list item removed.

Please help. - Aditya Kabir 07:23, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

I chose to do mostly only 1 and 2. The rest of the changes seem a bit much for a single table, especially adding color and removing the lines between the items. Peter O. (Talk) 07:33, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
I have modified a few parameters of the table, looking at Help:Table and other tables in Wikipedia may help you.--Commander Keane 07:36, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

The picture Image:BIRDEM.JPG on Shahbag isn't showing. How can I fix the problem? Do I need to download the picture, and reupload? - Aditya Kabir 06:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

It appears to have been a problem with thumbnail caching. See commons:Commons:FAQ#Technical_questions for more information about this. Yes, it is [1]. So far the votes are 3 for merge with football and 1 for delete. (The problem may be due to lag with the wikipedia servers or caching on your own browser.) --sony-youth 14:54, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

The Jayne Mansfield article suddenly has an image influx. Please check if the images are in line with copyright policies or not. (Also, can I ask someone to lend a hand at cleaning up the article?) - Aditya Kabir 19:16, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

If you click on the images, you can see why the uploader thinks they are able to be used. Most are publicity photos to promote her work, and they have a detailed fair use rationale on the image description page. The movie posters are slightly less clear cut, but are still probably ok. If you're still worried, flag the issue up on Wikipedia:Copyright problems. --h2g2bob 21:45, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Infobox

Hi, Aditya. I can certainly sympathize with you, since I edited the Indian infobox because of how bulky and unadaptive it was compared to, say, {{Australia state or territory}} (see South Australia) or {{British Columbia municipality infobox}} (see Chetwynd, British Columbia) — in short, jealousy. I recommend that you perhaps model your infobox on {{British Columbia municipality infobox}} by copying the code and modifying the fields to suit Bangladeshi entities; if you have any specific questions, I'd then be glad to step in and help out. Another far-fetched possibility I was thinking about was just to move {{Infobox Indian Jurisdiction}} to, say, {{Infobox Asian Jurisdiction}} and generalize it to accept parameters from articles about entities in both Bangladesh and India. But it's up to you. Let me know, though. Thanks. Saravask 20:42, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

How do I put my transwiki user pages on my user page here? - Aditya Kabir 15:36, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

You can link to a page on another Wikimedia wiki using its interlanguage prefix; a colon, two letters, and another colon for a different language (for instance :it:Utente:ais523 for my userpage on the Italian Wikipedia), or one letter and a colon for a different project (for instance m:User:ais523 for my userpage on Meta). You can pipe the link as normal to make it display something else. (You can also use the 'in other languages' list down the side, if you link a language without the first colon.) --ais523 16:31, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

my talk page has mistakenly been included in the category bangladesh education stubs. i think the problem lies with the codes under help me - 3, but can't locate it myself. - Aditya Kabir 19:24, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I think I got it. In your 05:07 comment, there was an : missing from the front of the category title. If you put that : in it makes it a link instead of an inclusion. What it was doing was including your talk page in the category instead of linking to the category like you intended to. Hope that helps! Metros232 19:59, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Help me on codes

Codes on my user page are not working right. I am especially worried about the image positions. I have put three images under title - About Me - and none are showing up where they should, not at least on Mozilla Firefox. - Aditya Kabir 14:50, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

What exactly are you trying to do? When you've got as many items on a page as you seem to have, some problems can be caused by them butting up against each other. EVula // talk // // 16:39, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

On my user page I have put Image:MeMyself&I.jpg under the sub-header One sunny summer afternoon, Image:Flag of Bangladesh.svg under 28 reincarnations and Image:Bananas.jpg under the sub-header Dropping bombastic words, but, they are not showing in that order. Something is wrong with my codes (copied and pasted in abundance). Can someone fix this particular problem (I'd like to retain all those crap I'm trying to do to my user page, though a lot has to be improved)?

If the three are showing up, as I see, but not in the order you want, which I'm not sure about but if you say so...then have you tried switching their order in the code? Xiner (talk, email) 15:24, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject History of Bangladesh/to do is not showing right on WikiProject History of Bangladesh. I must have got the codes all wrong. Please help. Aditya Kabir 11:23, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi there; the reason the {{todo}} template didn't work as expected is because the new WikiProject page was created under the main namespace, and not under the Wikipedia: namespace. The page and its sub-page have been moved, and a redirect is in place from WikiProject History of Bangladesh to Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Bangladesh. All should be okay now. Let me know if you run into any further problems. —XhantarTalk 12:16, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
No problem :)
I was actually busy creating a copy of the page under the Wikipedia: namespace to first check if that is, in fact, the reason for the problem with your {{todo}} list, when another user moved the page and its subpage. That caused an edit conflict which confused the crap out of me, and I thought I'd finally gone and broken something completely, haha. All seems okay now, though, and you can continue editing Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Bangladesh. I'm just discussing whether or not the redirect should stay in place with the other user I mentioned. I'm leaning towards deleting the redirect, seeing as though it's a new WikiProject and WikiProjects shouldn't exist under mainspace anyway. Cheers. —XhantarTalk 12:25, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, one last thing. The subpage WikiProject History of Bangladesh/to do now still exists, but is no longer needed as I created a copy of it at Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Bangladesh/to do. As such, I would like to request for WikiProject History of Bangladesh/to do to be speedy deleted, as it might just cause confusion later on. Are you okay with that? —XhantarTalk 12:34, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

I copied some codes from another user to the User:Aditya Kabir/My contributions page. Now it shows a Jimbo Wales quote on the top of the page. But, unfortunately it has rendered the namespace unclickable. Can someone help me to correct the code? Aditya Kabir 14:16, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

I have created a table for Mazharul Islam, which looks exceedingly ugly. Can someone do something to it? I just hope it looks better. I can fix the copy later (I am still researching on the subject).

Real96 thinks it doesn't look ugly, and all I need to do is removing the <small> codes off it (see below). Not being offensive or anything, I'd still prefer to have it look better. By better looks I don't mean a lot of color and all that flashy stuff, but this particular style of table is suitable only for short texts on each cell. The longer text on the comment column may require fixing column width suitably. Can someone help? Aditya Kabir 09:09, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Is it possible to retrieve the page at [Dhaka Electricity Supply Authority? It was there on the net, but now I can't find it anymore. May be it's preserved as an archive somewhere, right? Aditya Kabir 12:38, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Possibly, you should try to contact the owner of the page. Wikipedia doesn't have anything to do with external sites, so I'm afraid we can't help you here. Is there something you needed help with in relation to Wikipedia? Hersfold (talk/work) 13:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

There's a misunderstanding here, I guess (see immediately above). It is for Wikipedia. The Website I am looking for was hosted by Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (an extremely unfriendly and bureaucratic government agency, not a fit place to look for a lost website). But, it had useful content on history of electric supply in Dhaka, which was particularly useful for the Shahbag article I have put to peer review now (and getting ready for FAC as well). I know there is a way of sorting out dead links, but being technologically handicapped and all, I need help on that, very hands on help. Thanks. Aditya Kabir 13:59, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Ohh, ok then. I apologize - I had wondered why someone who appeared as experienced as you didn't know what to use the helpme template for. :-D
There is a site that links to that page, which appears to be a sort of governing body over the organization: [2] - that was the first hit on Google, but unfortunately the link from their page is dead as well. I'm not sure if they have the information you're looking for or not, though - it might be worth checking.
The project page here looks like it has some information on what to do in a case like this. The Wayback Machine mentioned there did obtain a few hits, unfortunately I'm having difficulty loading them as well.
For right now, I would suggest you tag the citations with the date things became inactive (presumably today or yesterday?) and hope that something starts to work again soon. At this point, that's really all that can be done, especially since the agency doesn't appear to be very cooperative. Sorry, I hope this has helped some, and I apologize again for the misunderstanding above. Hersfold (talk/work) 14:53, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

In reply to your "irrelevant question", I don't really know. I have a talk page header that I have transcluded onto that page, but the coding for it appears to be working on my screen - I've never had any problems with it. What system and browser are you using? I've accessed Wikipedia from Internet Explorer and Firefox in Windows and from Safari and Firefox on Mac, and it works fine in all, from what I can tell. If there is something wrong, I'd like to fix it, so thanks for mentioning that. Hersfold (talk/work) 15:23, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Wait, I know what it is. I was looking in the wrong place. The ?'s are replacing Chinese characters that are a rough translation of my comment just prior. The person I was talking to was from Taiwan and admitted that he couldn't speak very good English, so I translated my comments for his benefit. Hersfold (talk/work) 15:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Jayne Mansfield--Death Of A Salesman

Hi, please feel free to use this information as you see fit. I am not the best when it comes to outlining Wikipedia so you may use my source information.

Jayne performed in a local production of DEATH OF A SALESMAN in Dallas, Texas while studying under Baruch Lumet, father of film director Sidney Lumet. The production was in October of 1953. Milton Lewis, a Paramount executive, came to see Jayne in this performance and was impressed with her performance and told Lumet to have her look him up when she came to Hollywood. Mansfield was a brunette at this time and was a student at Southern Methodist University.

If there's some urgency about it, you can ask more directly at the project. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 18:33, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
& I'm not the right person for this topic--though I know just enough to suggest that you add a section of its influence upon later films. DGG 19:06, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Help needed

I have tried using the codes of Template:Discussion tracker to enhance User:Aditya Kabir/talkheader. But, it's not working. Can you take a look and tell me what's wrong? Aditya Kabir 05:49, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Help... help help... HELP HELP HELP... Heeeeeeeeelp. I really have no command of the codes. Without your help, it just won't move. Pleeeeeeease. Aditya Kabir 07:26, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay - I've been travelling. It seems like you've figured it out, but I'd already written this explanation anyway:
The template uses the page it's on as an argument in creating the links to the contributions pages. So you'll need to put it on your talk page or user page. Or, you could just copy the template code to whatever page you want, and replace {{PAGENAME}} with your username (with an underscore instead of the space). Hope that helps! --Chriswaterguy talk 08:23, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Looks like you deleted the script

The Help desk says that if you hit Shift-F5, that will clear your browser cache and you should be set then. --Charlene 11:15, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

hi, do you still have problems with your monobook by the way? clearing the cache should normally be enough. If it doesn't work don't hesitate to drop me a note on my talk page with your exact browser name and I'll give you more complete instructions :). -- lucasbfr talk 14:27, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Consider it done

Actually my pc is caught up with severe virus attack and makes me kind of lazy. My preparation to get a to university is also bothering a little bit. Anyway, I will take initiatives to comply what you've asked for. Not sure about the deadline though, but I'll do them ASAP. About S. Asian history

Ah, yes I am very interested in military history and the article Bangladesh Liberation War and the sister articles on the '71 war and the atrocities are inter-spread. I believe User:Ragib can give useful insights and information coming from a Bengali angle. Another user who expressed interest in improving the '71 war was User:Mike Young from UK. I am trying to build up some information myself and once I have enough time I might attempt at fixing that article. I believe that one day an article of such importance can become Featured Article, if not a good article. In the meanwhile you can chip in - when u feel like it - to improve Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan articles. I feel they should be removed of the biases and can serve as examples of good articles, despite controversies. Thanks for approaching me. --Idleguy 10:36, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Jayne Mansfield

Sory about this, but my home internet has broken (I'm writing this in the library) so I can't realy help with the JM article until I get a new gadget thingy fitted. :( Totnesmartin 11:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Re: archives, etc.

I've tried to improve User:Aditya Kabir/archiveheader. The previous version worked for me, but hopefully this one's closer to what you want.

And, it may just be me, but I see up until 22.8 in User talk:Aditya Kabir/Archive 5. If you do not, you may need to bypass your cache.

Hope this helps somehow (and if not do not hesitate to contact me),

Using TWINKLE

If you look at any "diff" window, you should see some coloured links at the top with various rollback options. Can you see those? → AA (talk) — 15:30, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, there is so. There are [restore this version] on the left hand side, and [rollback (AGF)], [rollback] and [rollback (VANDAL)] on the right hand side. What are their exact functions (well, I can understand the left hand side button, I guess)?
Clicking on any of the rollback links will undo all edits by the last editor. The entry in the edit summary is dictated by the type of rollback you've selected. Give it a try in this talk page and see the results. The final act of the rollback is to open the user's talk page ready for you to make a comment. → AA (talk) — 15:45, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Hey it works! Aditya(talkcontribs) 15:56, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Hey it works! Now, what does [rollback] mean (AGF is good faith and Vandal... I can udnerstand that much)? And, is there any automated process for vandal warning attached to twinkle? Aditya(talkcontribs) 15:58, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
[rollback] makes no assumption of faith and will simply say "Reverted x edits by ####". AGF and Vandalism sit on either side. Once you've made the rollback, the user's talk page will be opened. You can enter a comment manually or you can select the "warn" tab at the top. This will give you access to all the uw-* templates and auto insert the one you select. Again, give it a test in your sandbox to get a feel for it. The other tabs are "csd - tag for speedy deletion", "prod - tag for WP:PROD", "xfd - nominate for Afd/Ifd/Rfd/Tfd". These are the ones I use the most. → AA (talk) — 16:09, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

What do you think about this? I'm thinking of self-nom (unless you want to nominate me :) → AA (talk) — 13:07, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

You may be glad to know that you're not the only one to highlight this issue with TWINKLE (see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_User_scripts/Scripts/Twinkle#Documentation). If you have time, might be worth putting a page together on how to use it for other new users and linking it on the twinkle pages. → AA (talk) — 10:34, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Re: Is there a central page?

{{Wider attention}} has a list of the different RFC tags and RFC lists, if that's what you're talking about. The main page for all of this is Wikipedia:Requests for comments. MessedRocker (talk) 10:21, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 21:46, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about how long it's taking. The main reason is that I'm basically running this thing on my own, with little or no help from the other members. The only reason I haven't nominated for MfD is that this page acts as a sort of filter for me, otherwise I'd be crushed under the sheer volume of the articles which are tagged everyday. I will take a look at that right now, and copyedit to the best of my ability. That's also a reason why I've had to decline most of the cases, unless I can actually see what I've can do with it. Additionally, I do experience periods of low activity if my limits are exceeded. Jame§ugrono 23:47, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

There's not much to explain, you should take a look at WP:NPOV, and as long as you grasp that, there's not much else to know. Jame§ugrono 10:15, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Baitul Mukarram

Hello, the more accurate Arabic name is Al-Bait ul Mukarram (البيت المكرّم) with Al at the begging.

Baitul Mukarram in Arabic script is ( بيت المكرّم ) I think this is just another name of Ka'aba, Baitul Mukarram means in Arabic the holy house.Bait means house, ul means the, Mukarram is another Arabic word for holy.--Aziz1005 (talk) 20:01, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Stalking

I saw your question on Igor's talk page. The best place to report a stalker is at WP:AN/I. Just start a new section there, describe the problem, and provide the username of the person giving you trouble. You should also provide "diff" links as evidence -- if you don't know how to do that, let me know and I can assist you further. Equazcion /C 23:03, 5 Jan 2008 (UTC)

Autosign

I just laughed out loud at your edit to the talk page with the edit summary "stupid bot". I also dislike the "autosigning" so I added the template {{NoAutosign}} to the bottom of my userpage. Hi Aditya!

Thanks for your encouraging words on my talkpage! Yes, we're all pretty much irate with what 3 people unilaterally decided for themselves to be their "consensus" of move & re-direct in spite of several dozens of people disagreeing in former polls. My WIP article on ACS is of course just that, it's WIP, and as such will further grow with necessary material. Of course newcomers are encouraged to participate, especially on talkpages! :) Add your voice to our fundamental disagreement with what those three people did so we'll have the old article re-stored! --TlatoSMD (talk) 15:14, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

EDIT: You might recognize me as User:Tlatosmd (see User talk:Tlatosmd) instead. Looks like years ago I accidentally created several accounts, and that's also why I took so long to respond to your post on my talkpage. --TlatoSMD (talk) 15:57, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Baitul Mukarram

Dear Aditya: You asked about the etymology of Baitul Mukarram and I am glad contributing to your page that I greet with great respect. This name taught me about the National Mosque in Dhaka, which is a nice architectural feature. As an Arabic-speaking Architect, I have a construction career for over 34 years. I am 62 and I live in the USA but keep watching about Arabia and all what is related to the Arabic language. Please accept my contribution to your quest about the name of Baitul Mukarram although I know that Aziz is more eligible to answer that question. This man is a strong encyclopedia and he is eligible to write the new history of Arabia with new chapters and I can barely compete with him.

From the first hearing the name Baitul Mukarram sounds like the Houe of a certain "venerated" person, which means Mukarram. In Arabic the first listening to this name leads to the "honorable" man who is venerated like the Prophet Muhammad. In Islam, there is no problem in considering a mosque as the House of the Prophet. It could be meant by this as if it were the Mosque of Muhammad but if you think it over deep in Arabic, you may consider it a deformation to the term "Muharram" which means the forbidden, the Holy. In the Koran I remember a verse saying "Baytukal Muharram" meaning the Kaabah. Between the "Ha" and the "Kha" in modern and old Arabic, there is intersection. Both letters meet at the same use. Perhaps the name should be "Al-Baitul Mukarram" to be true.

Another meaning can also be thought of, which is the "Holy Bayt" or Al-Baytul-Haraam". Although there is no similarity between the Holy Mosque in Makkah and the central Mosque of Dhaka, the term baytul Mukarram could have been brought by devout Moslems to Bengladesh, thinking that "central" could mean "Holy". Lets not forget that the Holy City of Makkah is also called "Al-Mukarramah".

I also speak and master the English language for my business but also the French language deeply enough to argue about philology, etymology, history and religion. I truly consider the Arabic language as a non-national language belonging to all the nations who read al Kuran. Arabic does not belong to Arabs only and there are thoughts that it was the first language of God, the research continues.

Humbly I send you this message hoping that it satisfies your quest. Respectfully, Noureddine (talk) 17:38, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
