Adding Chronologies[edit]

Escondido[edit]

I canged "Escondido is a small, rural town" to "Escondido is a city." Adjectives are fine, but there is noting small or rural about Escondido. If anything, its typical Socal Suburbia. Trust me, I grew up there. While its a fine place to call home, I imagine that the name was included in the album because "Escondido" means "hidden" in Sapnish rather than for any rustic charm that the city might have.

This whole section makes no sense to me: "Escondido is a city near Cale's hometown of Valley Center, California. Though it is named Escondido, the album title actually references Valley Center." How can it "reference" something for which it is not named? I understand that you're saying Cale didn't grow up in Escondido, but unless the album were called Road to Valley Center I can't see how it "references" Valley Center. I would prefer the 2nd sentence be deleted. PLEASE NOTE: I live in Columbus, Ohio and have never even visited California so this is not an expression of any bias against Valley Center.

Alternately, perhaps it could be worded: "Cale intended the title to be an homage to his boyhood home. Escondido is a city near his hometown of Valley Center, California." Thoughts? GBrady (talk) 15:02, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

However, if you know the area, you will know that, depending on the direction from which you are driving, Valley Center can indeed be considered on "the road to Escondido. . ."

Gary Gilmore links to wrong person[edit]

Gary Gilmore (the bassplayer, according to this article) links to an article about a Gary Gilmore who does not appear to be the same person. The article is in fact about a criminal who was executed long before the album The Road to Escondido was recorded. I'm pretty sure that this link isn't right, but I'm not sure what went wrong. Anybody who does know to which article Gary Gilmore should link, please feel free to correct.

Billy Preston[edit]

From this article: "Contained on this album are the final recordings of Billy Preston"

From the article for 12 Songs (Neil Diamond album): "The sessions were also the last ever performance by organ player Billy Preston"

Dunno which is right but they cant both be. I'm inclined to think Escondido is right cos it was released a year later. It doesn't help that neither claim is sourced. Jh39 (talk) 20:43, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
