Untitled[edit]

It's funny that no one mentioned that this LP had two grooves on one of the sides... very unique back then. Every time you dropped the needle you might get one of two sides!

You're thinking of The Monty Python Matching Tie and Handkerchief. - 80.2.199.219 14:40, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

composer??[edit]

Who composed the music and/or the lyrics to the Sir Robin minstrel song?--Sonjaaa 20:21, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that's Neil Innes.Williamnilly 23:08, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"The Ballad of Brave Sir Robin" - Lyrics by Eric Idle , Music by Neil Innes.( It's Innes singing it in the film.)

"Knights of the Round Table" - Lyrics by Chapman/Cleese ,Music by Innes. ( Innes wrote all sorts of "period" music for the film ,but the Pythons decided to jettison most of it and raid the DeWolfe music library! ). The two "bonus" songs from the 2006 release are all Neil Innes. ( And suspiciously , "Spamalot" features two songs with the same names , but they aren't the Innes compositions! )Harvey J Satan (talk) 00:14, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Executive Version Announcements[edit]

On the LP, the last track on the first side is a short "executive version announcement" saying: "The announcement to which you are now listening is only available on the executive version of this record, and is not available on any other version." (The first track on the second side is the old classic, "THIS IS SIDE TWO!" and then the apology.) Is that part of "Bomb Scare?" Or is it different on the CD version? Inscription on the record[edit]

On my copy, on the inside, er, black ring of one side of the record, there is a small-writing inscription that goes around the record no less than 3 times. It says, in block capitals:

"This inscription is only available on the deluxe version of the album of the soundtrack of the trailer of the film of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and is not available on any other version."

Can I stick this in the article as is? I mean, how do I cite a reference to something I can see with my own eyes? 88.32.216.139 11:33, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, not "deluxe" version, I meant "executive" version. 88.32.216.139 10:09, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's on my copy as well. I say, stick it in. If possible, take a photo of the etching as proof. Can't be original research if you're just describing something as-is. 93.92.153.12 (talk) 08:55, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

On my LP, the messages are different. On the A-side (in block capitals): "An executive porky prime cut"; on the B-side (in block capitals): "This is the small detailed writing on the Record of the Album of the Soundtrack of the Trailer of the Film of Monty Python and the Holy Grail -- this writing is _not_ included on the executive version of the Album of the Soundtrack of the Trailer of the Film of Monty Python and the Holy Grail." Dgcuff (talk) 22:34, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My late 70s Arista LP (US) has nothing of the sort. UK-only messages? 71.205.222.97 (talk) 01:02, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The etched messages in the run-out grooves , are found on the U.K. / Charisma versions of their albums , from "Another" all the way up to "Meaning of Life" , as well as the 45's. ( Haven't checked any of the "best of" / compilation ones recently. ). Not sure why the U.S. versions don't have it ... Arista / Warner Bros. records , probably just didn't get it. A Lesson In Logic[edit]

I know I sound like a Python letter . . . but no mention of the monologue by the "professional logician," not available on the film? "In conclusion, sex is more fun than logic . . . " Is the speaker Terry Jones? Pittsburgh Poet (talk) 14:15, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That would be John Cleese doing a silly voice. 75.107.98.64 (talk) 15:25, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia / Information Error[edit]

The name "Louis de Lombard" , and yes , it does appear that way on the c.d. release , is an error. Check the film , script book , etc. ... It is the Castle of "Guy de Lombard" , pronounce "Gee" ( as the French do. ). The joke being , the castle is that of "Guy Lombardo" , a famous - at the time - French-Canadian music maker. Harvey J Satan (talk) 15:36, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Original Sticker[edit]

The original U.S. vinyl release , on Arista Records , had a sticker on the back of the album , proclaiming it to be an "Executive Version" , and that the back of the album was printed upside down. ( The joke being , only the sticker was upside down. ) Harvey J Satan (talk) 15:36, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Trailer soundtrack really on the album?[edit]

Does the album actually include the trailer's soundtrack? The track listing would appear that it doesn't, but this being the Pythons, the album might, with the track listing not mentioning it, or the album's title could be a put-on. Just1thing (talk) 13:29, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
