Millicent Sowerby was not the daughter of James Sowerby, but the daughter of Gateshead glass manufacturor John George Sowerby, and her brother was not Lewis Sowerby, a chemicalengineer, but John Lawrence Sowerby, who emigrated to Canada in 1912. See my biography of her playwright and children's author sister Githa Sowerby entitled "Looking for Githa", published by Stairwell Books. 82.27.196.160 (talk) 12:06, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Millicent Sowerby was not the daughter of James Sowerby, botanical illustrator, nor the sister of Lewis Sowerby, chemical engtheineer. She was the daughter of Amy Margaret Hewison and John George Sowerby, artist son of glass manufacturer John Sowerby of the Sowerby Ellison glassworks of Gateshead, at the time of her grandfather the largest manufacturer of ornamental glass in Europe. Her brother was John Lawrence Sowerby, who in 1912 emigrated to Canada with his wife Lucy to become a farmer. See my biography of her sister Katharine Githa Sowerby, children's author and playwright, entitled "Looking for Githa", published by New Writing North in 2009 and the 2nd edition in 2019 published by Stairwell Books of York. The story that they were related to James Sowerby the botanical illustrator was put about by Millicent and Githa when they first moved to London, to help promote their work. 82.27.196.160 (talk) 12:17, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
