Is it just me...[edit]

I don't know that it conflicts, precisely. The tune type is intimately related to the dance, and the dab page has nothing more relevant. Still, more dance-related content would indeed be welcome. --Craig Stuntz 17:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed the description of 6/8 time to 2, not 6, beats per measure (each containing 3 eighth-notes). This agrees with Concise Grove and other music theory books. Also, though I'm not an expert on traditional Irish music, my impression of what I have heard is that a jig of 6 eighth-note beats would be much too slow at the typical tempi mentioned later in the article.Dayfield (talk) 14:23, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Consider this a question: I was trying to research the etymology of the racially bigoted usage of this word, and did not find any allusion to it here. Is that conventional, or an oversight regarding the content of this article? Irish Own the Jig?[edit]

I was puzzled coming to this article. Jigs are most associated with Ireland today, but they were also developed in England. I expected this to be a general article about the jig from the title. I do not wish to tread on anyone's toes, but either this article needs renaming, or (my preference) it needs to include other countries (even if this does make a change from all the Anglo-centric and American-centric articles on Wikipedia).--Sabrebd (talk) 01:33, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

12/8 isn't necessarily compound duple time that would be assuming that it's divided into 6 eighth notes instead of three which would be quadruple compound time. Wouldn't it be better to use 6/8 as an example?
