Hema Malini is written wrong in Hindi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.54.19.177 (talk) 15:11, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Change the photo, please. Hema Malini is a beautiful woman but in this photo she looks ugly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.31.229.104 (talk) 01:27, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Married or not ?

Could you agree on whether Hema Malini is married or not Dharmendra ? Ambarish removed this mention in Sept 04 and Parihay just added yesterday. I don't knwo this lady, so i'm of no help to you. Lvr 11:53, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I just reverted Parihay's edits. As I see it, whether they're legally married or not is controversial; see, for instance, http://in.rediff.com/election/2004/apr/18dharm.htm Ambarish 07:57, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Rajya Sabha member

Though Hema Malini is a sympathiser of BJP, she is not a member of Rajya Sabha as a BJP member; She is one of the 12 people that can be nominated to this house by the President of India, as can be seen here. I'd change the text in the article to reflect the same.

You are wrong. Hema Malini is clearly listed on the Rajya Sabha site as a BJP member. If you also clearly read the article, it says " among seven persons nominated by the government to the Rajya Sabha"...that means the government at the time, the BJP-led one, nominated her. They did nominate her as non-affiliated, but she joined the party, as you can read in this (http://www.hinduonnet.com/2004/02/20/stories/2004022007841100.htm). I am just mentioning this because this is an important facet of Hema's life right now. She attends BJP party meetings, campaigns for their candidates, etc.

Latest revision

A Hema Malini fan had filled the article with gushing praise written in non-standard English. I have revised for grammar and NPOV. Zora 00:01, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Marriage to Dharmendra

Someone has removed all references to the controversy over her marriage with Dharmendra -- also done in the Dharmendra article. This controversy is frequently mentioned and I think it should be explained. I have spent too much time on WP today, but I will restore mention as soon as I can. I believe that the previous mentions were not at all sensationalistic. Zora 07:34, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Rajesh Khanna Hema Malini Popular Films

User Shshshsh has been reverting the information regarding Hema's popular association with Rajesh Khanna for no specific reason. References have been provided and even the hit films( commercially successful) of the pair have been provided.Paglakahinka (talk) 04:00, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hema_Malini&action=historysubmit&diff=437837889&oldid=437812542 - This proves that relaible references were provided, but Shsh is engaging in edit war.Paglakahinka (talk) 11:38, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Ask whether the citwf website is a reliable source at the reliable sources noticeboard instead of warring here. I must admit that my first impressions are that it is not because it appears to be the work of a single person and we have no idea what qualifications etc that person has, nor how he has compiled the material. - Sitush (talk) 12:15, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. Actually, you are the one who's been warring, Paglakahinka. At first you did not add any sources and when you did it was unreliable. ShahidTalk2me 12:50, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Mentioning Caste

Dear Editors!
There has been a discussion on India Portal related to mentioning of caste of subjects. The point is that mentioning caste of people, who have nothing to do with their caste, is found to be unnecessary by few editors. Hence the caste of the subject person needs to be deleted from the biography. I am not deleting the caste as of now but am only posting this here so that the regular editors of this article are well aware of it beforehand and no edit-wars take place. For details of discussion held on the portal please refer Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Mentioning_caste_of_Individuals. Your views if any are welcome there or even here.
And.... as the reasons of exclusion of caste pointed out were "irrelavant to notability of subject person", "privacy of the subject person", "inclusion of caste is like branding individuals", etc. other information included in the article which also fall under these cases will also be removed after discussions. Examples of it included religion, non-notable spouse's and children's and parents' information, previous occupation, lived in places, non-notability related educational qualification, etc.
Your views on this are also welcome here or at the India portal. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 10:12, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Not here, please. There is a community discussion taking place at WT:INB and I would advise people to read the entire discussion before forming an opinion because the above summary is incorrect. Nothing more need be said here. - Sitush (talk) 01:53, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Religion?

Last time I checked it was Islam but now it is Hinduism. Hema Malini converted to Islam on 21 August 1979. I will clarify the sources now. The first source for Hindu religion is http://www.firstpost.com/photos/images-dream-girl-hema-malini-at-iskcon-temple-290480.html which is just an image without mentioning any religious affiliation. It is very usual for an Indian MP to visit temples or even mosques. Second link is http://www.dandavats.com/?p=12468 which again does not mention her religious background but her daughter and her political career. Now, there are strong proofs about her religious background where she converted to Islam which are:

There are more sources which cites her actual religious identity so requesting the moderators to look into the issue and fix as per guidelines. Thank you. Iamgame (talk) 17:11, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

@Iamgame: Thank you for putting this information together. I agree that the two sources for "Hinduism" are not good and do not specifically mention her religious affiliation (and are thus original research). IMDB is not a reliable source, but the rest you provide appear to be. I am concerned with the Milli and New Indian Express sources because they claim Hema Malini went by another name, something not mentioned in the article. The India TV News source is just allegations. But the others seems good. I'm going to change the article, but also ask for a second opinion from someone who knows WP:BLP better. EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 19:01, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
as a complicated and nuanced issue, it should not be in the info box. howeverThis by penguin books seems pretty solid source that she converted and this for a statement that by her actions she was a trend setter in being "second wife" -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 19:44, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
but since she is a living person we need a reliable source where she self identifies to actually include it in the article. We can say something about getting married under Muslim Rites or something. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 19:47, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for putting actual information. But I do not understand that a Living person has to give information about himself. I am saying it because it is usual for living person to exaggerate information about them or denying facts for temporary benefits or other reasons. I am not accusing anyone but the sources are very clear here for this article. Iamgame (talk) 16:57, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
I think what TheRedPenOfDoom is saying is that for the information to be included in the infobox, we need a source saying what she currently self-identifies as. There's already a discussion about her conversion to Islam in the body of the article, which is where it belongs.
