semi-major tensions[edit]

Should mention the semi-major tensions in the 1980's over Papandreou the first's tender treatment of terrorists (from the Israeli point of view). AnonMoos (talk) 20:03, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Israeli support for Turkey has also contributed to the poor relations?[edit]

Davutoğlu said "Turkey was an enemy of Greece, but they never attacked our civilians as Israel did." Isreal-Turkey relations is more hostile than Greece-Turkey relations. Kavas (talk) 10:50, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

At this point, definitely. Athenean (talk) 22:18, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
However, the article is accurate for certain past decades (though it wasn't so much Israeli "support" for Turkey as Turkey being the only country in the Eastern Mediterranean that was willing to ally itself with Israel in any way -- if Greece chose to give Israel the cold shoulder, I'm not sure how much legitimate right it has to complain about Israel embracing Turkey...). -- AnonMoos (talk) AnonMoos (talk) 11:21, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Irrelevant.Kindly remember that WP is not a forum--Anothroskon (talk) 16:00, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Between 1965-1980 the relations were very poor, after 1980 coup relations improved but the two states were not allies. In 1967 War, Turkey declared that she supported Arabs against Israel and protested the occupation of Kudüs (Jerusalem). In 1973 Yom Kippur War, Turkey opened its airspace to Soviet Union and she closed the airspace to its main ally USA in order to help Arab countries against Israel in the war. Only between (1991-2008) the sentence that I object to is accurate, especially after 1997 post modern coup Turkey was an ally of Israel. (This information is taken from NTVTarih.) Kavas (talk) 22:50, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And it's irrelevant to the current article. Kindly remember that WP is not a forum.--Anothroskon (talk) 16:00, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In reply to your unsourced statement "Israeli military cooperation with and support for Turkey", I ask "When?" Remember that Turkey opened its airspace to Soviet Union in order to help Arab countries defeat Israel in 1973. Kavas (talk) 17:34, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anothroskon -- discussing widespread perceptions of various decades past is not turning this page into a "forum"... AnonMoos (talk) 19:16, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Israel-Greece Ties Warm as Relations with Turkey Chill -- 06:27, 20 October 2010 User:Metallurgist

Repeated sentence[edit]

This sentence is written twice in the article:

"During that visit, the two countries reportedly set up a joint committee for strategic and security cooperation to study ways of improving cooperation on strategic and anti-terror issues, Israeli media reports said at the time."

Did this happen in May 2010, as indicated the first time, or January 2011, as in the second version?67.68.46.155 (talk) 21:24, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greek music's popularity in Israel[edit]

The first sentence reads: "Greek music is considered in Israel the most popular type of ethnic music after the English Music." Umm..."ethnic"? What a horribly stupid sentence, and horribly stupid use of the word "ethnic". I'm revising it to this: "Greek music is considered the most popular foreign genre in Israel after Anglo (British/American) music." Skyduster (talk) 05:48, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please add the relationship of the 2 countries in ancient times.[edit]

Shouldn't this article mention the Seleucid times? The relationship between the Greeks and the Jewss have been long established. This article should make mention of the Maccabees under King Antiochus IV Epiphanes among other Helllenistic-Jewish relations.Thenabster126 (talk) 00:35, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Seleucid empire was not "Greece" in any way comparable to the modern country. The Seleucid power-base was in what is now Syria, and they also ruled over Iraq and variable portions of Anatolia, Persia, and the Levant -- but not the territory of modern Greece. Until the Romans started taking over, there were also other Greco-Macedonian states in the eastern Mediterranean -- the Seleucids were not the only one...
