Notability?[edit]

Is this person notable enough for an article? At the moment it seems like a case of WP:BLP1E. But I won't take it to AFD right now, as the story is still developing and there may be more to say about her in future. Robofish (talk) 10:39, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Today 150,000 people marched in the streets of Israel in a protest that Leef initiated and lead. Thousands of people moved to live in tents in all major cities. This is an unprecedented protest in the history of Israel and already it causes the government to promise major reforms. There is no doubt in my mind that Leef is already a significant historic figure in the state of Israel. Carny (talk) 21:11, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I Dont think that this needs An article at wikipedia[edit]

I Dont think that this needs An article at wikipedia. Avnerba (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:09, 30 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]

150,000 people out in the streets tonight indicate otherwise. Poliocretes (talk) 20:43, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
ya but this isn't encyclopedic. Avnerba (talk) 13:04, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
150,000 peoples marching in the streets not because of her but because of their situation. Leef was only the first trigger and now she is not very notable for her contribution. PureSnowman (talk) 06:53, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
350,000 people marched in Tel Aviv last saturday. The population of the city is around 450,000. I'd say the person who started and led the movement, and is now recognized as its most public spokesperson, is notable. This is a historic movement, nothing seen like it in the entire history of the country. She may be an accidental figure, but she has been propelled to the fore by these events, which makes her relevant on wikipedia. 70.53.186.156 (talk) 21:17, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

Daphne Leef initiated and led one of the biggest social protests in Israel's history (which in its early days was lead only by her!). At the present she serves as the Chairman of the protest movement and in practice she is the main speaker of the movement in the media. Therefore, and because of the great public interest in her (There is no person in Israel these days that does not know her name), this article is notable enough for Wikipedia. Daphne Vs Joe the Plumber[edit]

How is Daphne less notable than Joe the Plumber?? She is driving a major people's movement, he had one quip, followed by a book & speech-tour about it, and yet I see no warnings on his article? Signed: Amir Rahat (apologies for the Hebrew login) עמיר רהט (talk) 22:07, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

She is much more notable than him and anyone who objects should first ask themselves what would their attitude be if she was of some other nationality (any other, really).Counterboint (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:23, 16 August 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Spelling[edit]

This article now uses "Daphni", but other articles seem to use "Daphne". A phonetic spelling would be "Dafni"... AnonMoos (talk) 18:33, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ישראל חופשית[edit]

The adjective חופשי in this context really means "secular"; not too sure how satisfactory the translation "Free Israel" is... AnonMoos (talk) 16:24, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
