Naming[edit]

@Trekphiler and Frayae: Trekphiler, you're probably familiar with the whole civility expectation on wikipedia. Your comments in the edit history of CadZZilla (custom_car) are not civil.

You seem to be engaged in an edit war to ensure that the article is styled CadZZilla or CadZZilla (custom car). tbh, the rest of us mainly wish we could get on with other things and stop having this blasted article bounce back at us.

You ask, in one of your comments "since when does WP dictate how names are correctly capitalized?" The answer to that is, roughly, 06:11, 24 February 2006‎ when Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters was created, though doubtless the rule existed before that on the main MoS page. If you'll refer to the first paragraph of that page, and read the three sentences finishing: "Wikipedia relies on sources to determine what is conventionally capitalized; only words and phrases that are consistently capitalized in a substantial majority of independent, reliable sources are capitalized in Wikipedia." you will agree that Wikipedia does indeed have rules in respect of capitalisation.

If we look at a few sources for CadZZilla we find:

You will agree, I take it, that the name is not consistently capitalised; and you will, presumably, either accept that the MOSCAPS rule should be implemented; or else produce evidence that "a substantial majority of independent, reliable sources" use your preferred capitalisation.

Right now we have - mainly through your agency & impatience - two articles under two different names. That is a very poor outcome. And we also have a drain on our time & resources arising out of your impetuous editing and lack of communication. That, too, is a very poor outcome.

Please now set out your preferences for the future of the naming the the article so that we can end this waste of time. --Tagishsimon (talk) 05:02, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I will agree capitalization isn't consistent. I will also say the name as given by Boyd should trump what anybody else, including WP, thinks, which is why the move to Cadzzilla is inapt. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 05:05, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It would be best to hold a RM and get further comments fro other editors. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 08:55, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

CadzzillaCadZZilla – It has been argued that the capital ZZ is the correct style. I am neutral, leaning towards lowercase per WP:MOSCAPS. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 09:22, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is simple. Coddington used "ZZ". Since when does WP get to rename things? And don't tell me "ZZ" is more common; does "de Havilland" get renamed based on how many Google searches come up "De Havilland"? TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 20:35, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • CadZZilla, with redirect. If it were a single Z, that would be a different matter, but two Zs (contrary to Godzilla) is a clear reference to ZZ Top, who aren't here as Zz Top. Andy Dingley (talk) 00:02, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

CadZZilla or Cadzzilla note[edit]

I have moved the page correctly by closing the above RM early. If anyone thinks a lowercase title would be better then they should open a new requested move. Thanks. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 09:46, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
