Royal Worcester[edit]

"Cooper "painted on china at Worcester for four years before receiving any art training"." does this statement allude to the artist having worked at Royal Worcester as a budding artist?? Gwladys24 (talk) 13:20, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I know no more than you do. You can see the quotation in the original newspaper article, by clicking on the citation, and there is no further information about that stage of Cooper's life in that article, or anywhere else that I have seen so far. If you wish to research this matter further, I suggest that you contact Royal Worcester, in case they have lists of employees in their archives. Some companies have passed their archives on to the National Archives at Kew, so it might be worth trying there as well. Storye book (talk) 13:36, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect that the merger of Royal Worcester with Spode in the 1970s & the subsequent purchase of the brand name from administration by the Portmeirion group probably means that such records may well have been lost as a result of the site closures in Worcester, although I believe there may still be a museum of some kind left in Worcester.
