Thank you.

I appreciate the revert on my userpage. This pack of teenage (I assume) miscreants (with whom, I see, you have yourself tangled), including LindseyPanda, D-link69, and LeavesKittun, need to be shut down. All of they've done all day is create nonsene. At any rate, thanks again for the quick revert of their handiwork. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 20:38, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I want to thank you for removing the {{db-bio}} tag from my user page. Is that all that is necessary? Or is there some Wikipedia page where I must enter my defense against that tag? If there is any further action that I need to take, please let me know on my Talk page. Once again, thanks and best regards. - mbeychok 21:48, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Re your reversion of Environmental engineering law edits by 72.221.100.24

Thanks for your reversion ... you just beat me to it. Just a note of interest, I suspect that 72.221.100.24 is merely a re-incarnation of Smuschiano215 who has now been indefinitely blocked. - mbeychok 23:29, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

SolidCAM value

Hey Timotab

I'm the guy who inserted the value SolidCAM. I noticed that you want to delete it, and I don't understand why... SolidCAM is one of the leading CAM softwares in today's market and having it's value in wikipedia contributes alot to the site. The owner & founder of this company is my father, so what? I don't understand what's wrong about that. I deleted the spam message because the page content didn't look like spam to me.

Best Regards, David Somekh —Preceding unsigned comment added by DavidSomekh (talkcontribs)

Based at Wikipedia:Protected deleted pages, it is preferred that articles are salted after multiple re-creations, and from what I see at the deletion log, it was also only created once, so it is not salted for now, and the user haven't done a re-creation of the article so far. Although if, there is a specific reason on this case for a salt now, reply me and I can precede for that action. Thanks!--JForget 22:39, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I've hesitated for some time before doing the operation, but considering of the problems at Anne Wilding (possible sockpuppet and legal threat issues) and not to mention that if she is not notable enough for an article why this one would be more notable, i've salted it. That should end the issue unless Real77 does create sleeper accounts and simili-redo article with modified caption-titles.--JForget 23:15, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Sure no problem.--JForget 23:58, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

message from help desk

I'm making my last improvements on my userpage. On the bottom of the page, there are two collapable bars which, when opened, reveals my other userboxes. The problem is that some of the userboxes don't have their rightful images on them, nor there is a link to the image (for example: compare {{User Vietnamese}} to how it is on my userpage). Is these a way to fix this, or is it just like that? It can be edited HERE. Oh, and by the way, could you reply to this on my talk page? MITB LS 02:51, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I looked at both your userpage and the template, and it looks fine, I can't see anything wrong with it. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 00:50, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey, you replied to my question on the help desk (this is the new message, the top is just what was said at the help desk). Really, you can see the images? I can only see JPEG/JPG images on my userpage, but I can't see the other types of images (SVG, etc.) (I can't see it on my computer. I am currently on a computer at a public library, and I still can't see it!). Could it be some technical glitch or something on these computers? If not, is there something to fix it so I can also see SVG images? (again, I can't see the SVG images when the userbox collapse bars are opened, which is located at the bottom of my userpage). User Page Warning Removal

I'm fairly new to Recent Changes Patrol and vanadalism detection/reversion. I've been bored at work the past few days, and it's something to do.

I see the policy you linked to, but I thought that warnings needed to be left for a certain period of time. Guess not. That's too bad. The number and level of the warnings I see on a user's talk page is often how I determine what level of warning to leave, and whether to report them at WP:AIV.

Incidentally, when you left me that message, I was searching through WP:WARN looking for a "do not remove vandalism warnings" warning.

Re: Eric Gale

To whom this may concern;

I am writing on behalf of my late father and family. I am the daughter of the late Eric Gale and lost him to cancer on May 25, 1994, I was only 12. My dad left a great legacy, a beautiful wife Masako M. Gale and four daughters Gretchen, Eriko, Mariko, and Noriko Gale. I am writing to you because I wanted to add more information on my father that his fans, friends, his future grandchildren and family would like to read when the situation calls for it. Frankly, I don't know what information you need from me in order to add more information onto my father's site. The information I have added onto Eric Gale's page came from the (c.d. liner that we have all rights to)Columbia house release of the two albums Ginseng Woman & Multiplication which is of course permitted. Ghmyrtle feels the need to control the information solely in his best interest as I have no idea who this person is which I find unnecessary. My family has been through enough, let us handle what future generations know about Eric Gale. Clearly the current info. is not enough. He was born in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn New York and it is something he was proud of (do you really want me to fax you his death certificate?)

If it is against the "rules" to add additional information from a c.d. liner that we own the rights to, can I, his daughter, write about him in my own words? He took me to studio sessions, even shows like the Chevy Chase show (with whom he worked with on Saturday Night Live & Taxi)and many others when I was a child. I went everywhere with him. I do think I have a right to this just as much as some random man from some where in the U.K. that wished he knew my dad. What right does he have to lock down Eric Gale's page?

On Eric Gale's page I noticed today that this Ghmyrtle added a reference (which was not there yesterday) that I had put there earlier, but "failed" to add on correctly when I revised the page. If you need "verifiable" proof, the last time he logged on was today to add that specific reference in - he doesn't even know which album I got that from, otherwise it would have had that on the page as well. I am sure your job here is make sure all things run smoothly. Tomorrow I will scan and post the album cover I am referring to {Eric Gale - Columbia Jazz Contemporary Masters - "Ginseng Woman & Multiplication" it's a two-album c.d.). In this release contains the word-by-word article from Chris Albertson (Contributing Editor) Stereo Review.

Please help to correct this and set the records straight.

Thank you,

Eriko E. Gale —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eriko E. Gale (talkcontribs) 22:47, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your note to Eriko E. Gale about Eric Gale

My name is David Whalen, and I am writing this on behalf of Eriko E. Gale, who has come to me with this problem. I am a neutral third party and wish that with this new information the issue at hand and her father's legacy can be resolved.

In regard to the wikipedia page for Eric Gale, you are unfortunately wrong on one major point. The cd liner notes that had been posted in the album entitled "Ginseng Woman" and "Multiplication" (released originally by Sony Music Entertainment Inc., 1977, re-released by Sony Music Entertainment Inc. in 1991, manufactured by Columbia Records) were, in fact, from a magazine called "STEREO REVIEW", and the article was written by a contributing editor named Chris Albertson. In the letter you had written Eriko, I quote:

"You may well own the rights to these words. However, for something to appear on Wikipedia verbatim, it must either be public domain, or have an appropriate free license attached to it. It doesn't, it is still under copyright, and to just copy that text word for word is a copyright violation. One could then argue that you could take that information and rewrite it in your own words, as that would then not be a copyright violation. While that is true, all of the information on Wikipedia has to be backed up by a reliable, third party, source. CD liner notes are not third party sources, as they would largely have been written by the artist themselves. Third party sources would include newspaper articles, or books where the subject is mentioned and discussed. "

- In this case the source is from STEREO REVIEW and not written by the artist, and that is the entire amount of text that she had sought to be posted before. Therefore I ask to kindly modify the site to reflect this bonafide information as it is in fact from a magazine article, and was good enough to be used by Columbia Jazz Contemporary Masters as the cd liner notes for the above mentioned release, when it was re-released under that label. Upon reviewing and comparing what was written in the article, I realized that a few words were inaccurate, so I have now taken the time to correct the old information that had been copied, and I supply you now with VERBATIM text from the magazine article, copied in full, unaltered, below. Please add this to Eric Gale's site as it is now legitimate information, according to wikipedian rules. For you to say that "CD liner notes are not third party sources, as they would largely have been written by the artist themselves." - This statement is now untrue, and the information is in fact legitimate. - Who uses the term "largely" so loosely anyway? I have no doubt that you can understand the issue here and hope you can help to resolve it.

Incidentally, here is Chris Albertson's wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Albertson

As well, the birthplace of Eric Gale is in fact, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York.

David M. Whalen 02:27, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Please find the article as it appeared, below:

Articles taken from magazines are still covered under copyright policy, and may not be copied and pasted here per copyright policy. This is not negotiable, Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, per the state law of Florida and the laws of the United States government. As such, I have again removed this copyright violation, your reproducing the article in any form is not acceptable. Using information from an article is fine, using the article for substance, but not copying sentences or entire paragraphs. The article can then be used as a reliable source and cited via footnotes in the article. ArielGold 02:32, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey Timothy, your userboxes are all displaying in one column, did you want it that way? Maybe we could put them into two columns and center them, (by section) would cause less scrolling. What do you think? ArielGold 06:39, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

erm... they are in three columns. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 06:49, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Hrmm, displaying in one long center column for me, even after refresh/purge. Strange. Oh well! ArielGold 07:01, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
If you want to formally columnate it, feel free. In fact, I've been wondering if you'd be willing to separate out each section into subpages and then transclude them into the User page. That would make editing each section much easier. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 07:07, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Sure we can do that. Here's what is a pet peeve of mine. Because there is no real standardization of userboxes, some are bigger (taller) than others, and others have odd formatting issues that ruins formatting of boxes placed above/below them. I've been thinking about making all my userboxes custom, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. But yeah we could move each section I think. Let me play with it a bit and see how it would work. ArielGold 07:09, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
And I meant each section of the User page, not just each section of the userbox section — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 07:11, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
So each area would have its own box header, etc? Would you want them to be together, or spread out among the other areas? (And I watch your page, silly lol) ArielGold 07:12, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand the question. What I want is the userpage to look the same as it does now (apart from userbox layout), but the content of each section (under the header) to be a transcluded subpage. That way, for example, when I get a new barnstar, I can simply add it to the bottom of User:Timotab/Barnstars, rather than trying to find the right place in the User page code to add it. And I know, I just wanted to try out that template. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 07:16, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh, okay when you said "each section" I thought you meant each section of userboxes, like RL, Wikipedia, beliefs, etc. Okay yeah we can do that with the barnstars easily enough. Let me do that first. ArielGold 07:18, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I did the Barnstar page, if you want a line break between barnstars you can add it. I think it looks cleaner without a break, but that's a personal pref thing. I added comments to show where new barnstars go, but I'm sure you can figure it out. Now let me see what I can do about the userboxes. ArielGold 07:24, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

See what I did with the transclusion - ussing the Magic word means that the code is more portable for copying (and, in fact, if I changed username, everything would work fine without redirects). — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 07:32, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay yeah. Never thought of that really, lol. Okay, now, do you want each sub section of userboxes to have its own colored box section header? ArielGold 07:33, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, that's what I ended up doing, so take a look and tell me if you like it. I think it is much nicer. ArielGold 08:49, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Meh, no, I don't really like that. Sorry. No coloured subheaders for the userboxes please! — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 13:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay I removed the colored subheaders. Better? The new layout makes it so that you can place a single box in the center to balance, when before, they would be automatically placed in the first column. Anything else you think of I've missed or you don't like? ArielGold 06:36, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
That looks much better. I'm going to be doing some tweaking myself soon. :) — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 06:47, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Let me start off by saying that I love your user page. It's not the color scheme I would have chosen, nor the content I would have chosen, but I love the layout. Being completely unused to any form of Wikipedia coding, I was wondering if you could help me with mine. I do graphic design, so I could make any images needed, but I don't code, and you seemed to do a good job with yours... I don't know if you used a template or made it yourself, but I like the add comments button and the userbars, and a whole bunch of other things about it. Oh, by the way, what is a barnstar? I've never heard of one before. Thanks!
