Go back[edit]
- Yeah, I've thought about going back to LT, PL, even Kaliningrad, but I can't recreate the old relationship — which ended seven years ago — and can't afford to waste $$ on travel that ultimately would be frustrating. It would be different if I had someone to travel with or to meet there.
- But since you're close, I think you should go to Vilnius sometime — it's quite different from the other historic Baltic towns, and has a mostly baroque (as opposed to brick Gothic) Old City that was never destroyed (except for the Jewish quarter, wrecked by the Nazis).[3] Sca (talk) 20:18, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I know what you mean. Sometime if better to create new relationships, because everybody seems to move on all the time. no relationship lasts without at least intense mail contact... Was planning to go there... but those Russians... you know. Hafspajen (talk) 20:21, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Не знаю.
- Re your moose pic., did you know that the moose antler was a symbol for East Prussia in German times?
- In German, a moose is called an Elch, which leads to confusion for translators because it sounds like a cognomen for "elk," which in North America is a totally different animal.
- Coincidentally, a moose wandered into our city last week and had to be captured and taken away to the forest. Sca (talk) 21:04, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- MMmmm, and in Swedish it is called älg (Elg)... Now you are the Russian expert around here, do you think you could add some captions to some newly added files in the gallery at Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis? what is Не знаю, don't know? Hafspajen (talk) 21:19, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Не знаю = Don't know — donno. Actually, it should be Я не знаю = I don't know, but I think they usually just say не знаю (pronounced nez-nye' yoo.) That exhausts about one-third of my Russian vocabulary.
Čiurlionis[edit]
- Well, it seems there is — I've been used to seeing much more green hues,[5] but perhaps this is more accurate? I added it to the gallery at Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. Sca (talk) 12:56, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Ha, Steve, that was much to good for a gallery. Hafspajen (talk) 13:57, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Actually the title I've always seen is "The Gift of Friendship," so I changed it on the Čiurlionis page. Sca (talk) 15:27, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Made a hole in the gallery, when moved the Angels into article. Will you try to add one more picture? [6]. Hafspajen (talk) 00:03, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, that was me, Angels on a beach... But what was I to do with that text... Hafspajen (talk) 00:28, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hey, where did you found that one? + what is your method? Hafspajen (talk) 17:06, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

HOhoho, found some in the category unsorted... Instead of the Juros... Hafspajen (talk) 14:46, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
- Ahem... can't we add two more? These are quite nice... That Juros is fairly big.. Removing that it could make place for 2 smaller.... Or what do you think?
Palaver[edit]
We have certainly a bad selection in the commons gallery. Somebody didn't liked the blues and green... Hafspajen (talk) 17:17, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- How do you feel about Creation of World - V? Sca (talk)
- Ah, working on it. We should put together the old ones and the new ones and make a selection....
- Chose the bests and then compare. Wondered just why he keept to muddy colors... But he didn't. I was our gallery friend who chose them. Hafspajen (talk) 17:37, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- What Germany 4, Portugal 0? Can't find then among the titles. You mean Daybreak 2? ah, wait a minute... World cup, right? Hafspajen (talk) 17:51, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- ' Here cames the muddy selection. Sooo, now lets settle for ... 3 rows? Or maybe four? Hafspajen (talk) 18:11, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
No problem, I can take my 5 until then. Haffy (talk) 19:03, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
That is 2,5 rows. we should go for 4 row probably if we want to present his work well. So many interesting pictures... Hafspajen (talk) 19:55, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, very good. Now we just simply need 4 more that we forgot, that represents different styles he has - even if they are no big favorites. Just for the EV. I put in one. Any suggestions? Also, we may have two more for the article, single pictures: Juros sonata - Andante (1908) - Sonata of the Sea. Finale (1908). Not sure the ones there are the best... Can imagine to replace the house with a good picture too. Hafspajen (talk) 22:16, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
Two or three more and we can start thinking of how to organize it. Which ones in the article? What layout, doesn't have to stay as it is. Hafspajen (talk) 22:29, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
Take three actually, and we can always remove that house. Hafspajen (talk) 22:32, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, the house in Marki isn't very relevant or interesting. I looked for a pic of the Čiurlionis Museum in Druskininkai but didn't find one.
- We should keep Friendship and Sonata of the Sea in some form. Sca (talk) 22:34, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
OK. (was never thinking removing Friendship). We can always remove or add something... Arranged first row. Next yours. And we have place about 4 pictures in the article if you agree to remove that house and Juros sonata - Andante (1908). Hafspajen (talk) 22:40, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
OK, you chosed to make temas. Move back pyramids because I need that dark patch in the middle of the lights. How many do you have in a row? I have six, but we can have different computers. Hafspajen (talk) 01:20, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
I think basically is all fixed, just go ahead and replace gallery and change the pictures. Good luck. Hafspajen (talk) 13:22, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
- Well done! looks really much much better then that previous gallery!! And give a much fair representation of the artist works. Very nice job. Now, remove that Juros whatewer - we would need something else instead, more colour, more blues, greens... Pick something. Hafspajen (talk) 14:33, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
- I deleted Paradise and moved Sonata and your beloved Forest apart, so it's less congested graphically. Perhaps we should delete Lightning too? — it's kinda gimmicky, not as subtle as most of his paintings.
- Well, I am not exactly inloved with the forest. You can remove it if you want. The only problem that was bothering me was that the gallery has an uneven number of pictures (and still has now) - just wanted to remove one into the article. The lightning - well you can remove that too if you really insist but it is the best gimmicky picture so far, and even if wee carefully avoided them - he does have plenty off this type of pictures, so it would be fair to present at least one. On the other hand I do like the paradise. Hafspajen (talk) 16:05, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
- Haffy, I've had enough of Čiurlionis for a while. You go ahead and adjust the article as you see fit, then nominate a pic of your choice for FP — please? Sca (talk) 16:11, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
We can try several and see what will happen. Kings' Fairy Tale is big enough. Hafspajen (talk) 17:00, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Mug[edit]
-
Lightning (1909)
-
M. K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum in Kaunas, Lithauen.
-
Mists (1906)
Do you think we should flip his mug in the info box, so he'd be looking into the text? Sca (talk) 17:40, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
- Reverse his photo.
Outch . We might just remove that one, it doesn't look like that at all. Or can it be several forest pictures? Hafspajen (talk) 18:12, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Can you flip his mug in the info box? I don't know how. Hafspajen (talk) 18:17, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

- Did I really wrote OCH... hm. Tired I guess.... Hafspajen (talk) 21:56, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
- Does this strike a chord? — Deep greens and blues / are the colors I choose (James Taylor). Sca (talk) 17:14, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

ITN[edit]
You might (or might not) be int'd in the discussion at [15]. Sca (talk) 01:18, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know. It is a bit late. Hafspajen (talk) 01:24, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Well, was trying to understand it yesterday already... Can't say I get it better today. What should be moved where and why? Hafspajen (talk) 15:14, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- The pic. in ITN always stays at the top of the page, even though the item it illustrates moves down as new items are added to ITN. Thus, much of the time the pic. is paired with an item to which it has no relationship.
- Obviously, the pic. should be linked with the item it illustrates, as is almost universal practice. This discussion has been going on, intermittently, for years. Sca (talk) 15:31, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Ska? ... and Säpojoggen. Hafspajen (talk) 17:22, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- What's different? Well, for one thing, my sister & brother-in-law invariably follow a schedule of sleeping 'til noon or 1 p.m. (1300), then staying up until 3 or 4 a.m. My other sister and I, who are visiting, tend to wake up between 6 and 7 a.m.
