Thank you for taking part in the Community Health learning campaign!

Community Health learning campaign - Analysis Report of Community Responses
Thank you!

Hi,
apologies for writing in English, if this is not your first language.
I want to thank you once more for engaging in conversation on the Community Health learning campaign. It took us a while, but we can finally announce the winner of the prize, as well as share the outcomes of this conversation.

You might also be interested in taking part in the 2015 Harassment consultation. This is the first of several planned consultations on this topic, intended to provide a place to discuss ideas, concerns, proposals and possible solutions regarding Wikimedia communities’ harassment-related challenges.

This conversation would not have been the same without you. If you have more ideas, or follow up comments on the findings of the campaign, don't hesitate to leave me a message my talk page.

Have a great day,

María

Help decide the future of Wikimania

The Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).

After reviewing the consultation, we'd like to hear your feedback on on this survey.

In addition, feel free to share any personal experiences you have had at at a Wikimedia movement conference, including Wikimania. We plan to compile and share back outcomes from this consultation in February.

With thanks,

I JethroBT (WMF) (talk), from Community Resources 23:46, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Please could you look at the above article? In particular I do not understand what the Journalist section is about and why the numbers are formatted as they are. Are they telephone numbers? Should the section be there at all? Thanks SovalValtos (talk) 10:42, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

@SovalValtos:, I don't understand the journalist section either. The numbers are probably something like the ISBN of a book. The "education" section does not contain encyclopaedic information either. It is a list of schools like in a yellow pages directory. Maybe, we should post on the talk page of the article that unless this information is cited with a WP:RS it will be removed. -- Rohini (talk) 07:36, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
I will do that now. The journalist numbers seem to have been added by IP 182.189.179.185 17-1-2016. SovalValtos (talk) 08:00, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Many thanx

Hi,

Thanx for you welcome, guidance, help and support.

Actually I am trying to create a page/article related to a very very remote place in Kutch, Gujrat. So far not got and reliable source information for it (like any news items or articles in news papers or magazine).

Note: I only manage to got reply by mail from Govt. authority, will that be enough?

In case if you have any idea on that, kindly suggest.

Thanx and rgds,

Dhuffiwala (talk) 10:46, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

@Dhuffiwala: Apologies for the late reply. An email, even if sent from an address owned by the government, is not considered a reliable source on Wikipedia. The reason for this is that email communication is private. The contents of the email are accessible only to the recipients and it woule be a breach of privacy for anybody else to access them. Hence, it is not independently verifiable. Even if you publish the email somewhere with the permission of the sender, it won't be considered a reliable source. Your best best is to use records such as the government gazette (even if they are in Gujarati or Kutchchi) and public records of the government. Have you considered posting your queries on the India noticeboard on Wikipedia? Several Wikipedians face challenges while adding content to articles pertaining to places in India due to the lack of material that falls within the definition of a WP:RS. Do write to me using the YGM service for further discussion. -- Rohini (talk) 20:32, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

@Rohini

Please note the article related to Dhufi is through. I am stuck with other article called Balrajeshwar Mahadev Mandir, Mulund. Kindly let me know can you help me on it?

Best Regards

Dhuffiwala (talk) 07:13, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

@Dhuffiwala: Do you have the article in your sandbox? I would like to take a look at the content and citations. -- Rohini (talk) 17:54, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

@Rohin

@Dhuffiwala: As indicated by the reviewers, the article on the temple does not have enough relevant citations from reliable sources. Hence, it does not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria. I can see you have added some news links. Try searching for gazette notifications, books, historical references (as the temple is a hundred years old), and references in local magazines and newspapers (non-English is OK.) -- Rohini (talk) 11:32, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
@Rohini:

Sorry Rohiniji no luck, can not find anything :(

My Sandbox

Yes, you can view my sandbox and please suggest me the changes.

Also please help me to find out the reliable reference for my article of Shri Balrajeshwar Mahadev Mandir, it is once again rejected.

Thanx in advance

Rgds

June 2016 Guild of Copy Editors Newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors June 2016 News

Hello everyone, welcome to the June 2016 GOCE newsletter. It's been a few months since we sent one out; we hope y'all haven't forgotten about the Guild! Your coordinators have been busy behind the scenes as usual, though real life has a habit of reducing our personal wiki-time. The May backlog reduction drive, the usual coordinating tasks and preparations for the June election are keeping us on our toes!

May drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in last month's record-setting backlog reduction drive. Of the 29 people who signed up, 16 copyedited at least one article, 197 copyedits were recorded on the drive page, and the copyedit backlog fell below 1,500 for the first time! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

June Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz will occur from 12 June through 18 June; the themes will be video games and Asian geography.

Coordinator elections: It's election time again; how quickly they seem to roll around! Nominations for the next tranche of Guild coordinators, who will serve a six-month term that begins at 00:01 UTC on 1 July and ends at 23:59 UTC on 31 December, opens at 00:01 UTC on 1 June and closes at 23:59 UTC on 15 June. Voting takes place between 00:01 UTC on 16 June and 23:59 UTC on 30 June. If you'd like to assist behind the scenes, please consider stepping forward; self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible; remember it's your Guild, and it doesn't run itself!

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Miniapolis and Baffle gab1978.

Wikimania 2016 is almost here! Mjohnson (WMF) and I are running two workshops for IdeaLab during the conference, and you are invited to join us for either (or both!)

If you have a proposal or idea you are thinking about, and would like a space to work on it on your own or with others, please consider joining us for either the Thursday or Saturday sessions. We'll discuss a little about IdeaLab and how it works, and the rest of the time is space for idea building. You can also use this session to ask questions about Wikimedia Foundation grants that are available if your proposal or idea may need funding. Thanks, and see you at the conference!
