A tag has been placed on Martin J. Siegel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi Mr Siegel,[edit]

who was not convicted of fraud, etc. I have just read your comment on Jimbo's talk page, and I thought I'd respond briefly. In essence, you're going about this all wrong. That's perfectly understandable, as you (apparently) are not familiar with the processes used at Wikipedia. We have addressed issues similar to yours before, but I'm afraid I can't right now remember the proper thing to do. :/

However, I do know that the proper thing is not to create a page for yourself, because you are, as far as I can tell, not sufficiently notable for a WP article. Thus, your newly created article has been speedy deleted. My only real purpose in writing you here is to let you know that this is a very common occurrence, so please don't perceive this as WP being "out to get you" or some such. That is most definitely not the case. Also, posting to User:Jimbo's talk page is not particularly effective as such, since Jimmy's probably too busy to look into this kind of thing. This falls to the ordinary WP editor, like myself. Fortunately, or unfortunately, if you are Jimmy, posting on Jimbo's page does have the effect of bringing it to many ppl's attention.

If no one else does, I'll try to remember what the proper course is. I think it involves a standard templatized disclaimer to the effect that "this person is not Martin J Seigal, the blah blah", which would appear at the very top of the article. I do know there is a standard for dealing with this, as biographies of living persons are taken very seriously here, to avoid legal actions. Please feel free to contact me on my talk page if you would like. Eaglizard (talk) 21:49, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
