FL count[edit]

Thanks Matthew. Nice to know someone's keeping an eye on me! The Rambling Man (talk) 06:42, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response to the challenge to removal of the Supreme Court list. I have responded in some detail on the editor's page. No worries! The Rambling Man (talk) 06:53, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 06:56, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you're still around, can you confirm that you're still opposing the mammoth List of Maryland state highways? Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:11, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. Too many redlinks, and I can't help feeling it is missing information compared to List of Interstate Highways in Texas, which is the only similar Featured road list. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 07:15, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Thanks once again. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:59, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. It's 1 a.m. now so I'm off to bed. Goodnight & good morning! Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 08:01, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I replied to some of your comments. Nergaal (talk) 08:03, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I finished going through all your comments except the one with the footnote a. What do you think of the article now? Nergaal (talk) 14:08, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Suppor or oppose the FLC? Nergaal (talk) 21:15, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matthew,

Apologies for pinging you again, I really do not know how the FL process works (It is my first nomination, but I hope it won't be the last) so maybe this note is not needed. The previous article is close to be 10 days in the FLC list and it is still showing that you are opposing the nomination, although the vast majority of the points you raised were already fixed. Am I supposed to do something else? Thanks in advance,

Miguel.mateo (talk) 23:57, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Friendly ping that you recent comments has been resolved in the previously mentioned article. Thanks a lot for the great reviews! Miguel.mateo (talk) 08:36, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Matthew. Any chance you can provide support/oppose/more comment on these three FLCs? They've just crossed the 10-day threshold so I'm hoping to close them one way or another. Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 07:39, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your participation in Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Twin Peaks episodes. The article was promoted to a featured list. Cheers! (SUDUSER)85 04:46, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tenacious D peer review[edit]

I have been impressed with your discog comments. I would appreciate if you could note any suggestions on the Tenacious D article on its peer review. Thanks, Tenacious D Fan (talk) 14:23, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to get to it today. Bit stressed out off-line at the moment so I've not been as active. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 18:38, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done – sorry it took so long. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 05:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's insane. Will check out. Thanks. Tenacious D Fan (talk) 09:02, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

en dashes in page names[edit]

Hey Matthew, thanks for originally raising the alarm here. You may be interested to see that Anderson has tried to trump the ensuing discussion at MOS (which has been closed in favour of the status quo), by making a major change to the Naming Conventions policy page on the issue. It is now in significant conflict with MOS, having previously just referred the issue to MOS by linkage. NC trumps MOS, since the former is a policy page. It is in no one's interest but Anderson's that this change by stealth (which I've reverted) be allowed to be reinstated there, since it will weaken the authority of MOS over consistent punctuation between article titles and main text (in FLCs, especially), and fuzzes WP's guidance on the matter to reviewers and nominators.

Article title "Golden Football Awards 1934-1984", because the nominator argues that "reliable sources" (such and such a web page or styleguide out there) use a hyphen for year ranges; but within the main text, our readers are hit with "1934–84" to comply with MOS (where Naming Conventions has no business).

Skim-read history of issue here, but comments required at the Naming conventions policy talk page.

This is of concern to both FAC and FLC processes, which need plain, clear guidelines, not deliberate spoiling by Anderson-cruft! Tony (talk) 03:11, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. I've commented as best I can. I don't have the literacy to get as deeply involved as I'd like sometimes. I often just add a sentence or two here and there and disappear, but hopefully my feelings were expressed well enough to make myself clear. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 04:55, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely confidence[edit]

If it were ability (here), I'd be asking for money. Thanks for your input, which was very helpful. On the subject of 5='s vs. semicolon, the subject came up recently in WT:MOS that they appear the same, but the 5-heading lets you link directly to that conversation from other pages, so the 5-heading is a sign that people may want to point to the argument again. I'll revert unless you really don't like what we're saying :) - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 13:34, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for the barnstar Matthew! I am glad to see the Top Ten stay featured. Thanks again for the star! « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:58, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matthew - could you possibly review your position on this FLC and see if you support or oppose the promotion please? There's a lot of commenting going on but not a lot of supporting or opposition! Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 10:31, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And while you're there, how about Woody Allen filmography as well? Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 10:48, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship[edit]

Hello. I've looked through your edits and find them to be quite impressive. As a result, I'd like to nominate you for adminship at WP:RFA if you're interested. I'd also like to know what you plan to use the tools for to see if you have experience in those areas. Let me know of your decision. Wizardman 23:21, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You'd get my backing too. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:39, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for the thought! User:Pedro asked the same recently, so I've had to think about this already. I'd definitely use the tools for editing protected templates such as those relating to WP:NOWRAP, User:Matthewedwards/Nowrap problems, CAT:SHORTFIX and WP:DOC.I kind of enjoy doing this sort of background stuff that most people don't notice, and the tool to edit permanently protected templates would be a big help. Leaving requests on talk pages is time consuming, and also pulls other admins away from stuff they could be doing.
Other stuff I'd be happy to participate in would be CAT:CSD – esp WP:CSD#U1 as I'm an abuser of that and always feel a little guilty when I'm distracting an admin away from something that is probably more important! I already participate in [[WP:RQAC and WP:UAA, so I'd continue to do that, although to be honest my involvement hasn't been as high as I'd like due to recent real life stresses. I keep my eye on CAT:COMMONS, WP:CP, WP:PUI and CAT:NCT so after getting comfortable with the tools, I'd probably involve myself there, too.
I wouldn't close any AfDs - I'm fully aware how inexperienced I am in that area, although I have nominated a few articles in the last 2 weeks. That said, I do consider myself fairly intelligent, and if there was an AfD with nothing but keep or delete !votes, I'm confident I wouldn't mess anything up if I did close it.
I also don't see me blocking people. Not at first, at least. I don't do much vandal fighting because I find the tools to be annoying, so I think it would be unfair of me to go blocking everybody for vandalising pages in my watchlist. There are many admins who do this so well that it probably won't be something I do often, but I do understand that I would have to do it at some point. Although I don't comment, I watch pages such as WP:ANB, WP:AIV, WP:ANI and WP:RFP, so I know the "rules" and acceptable lengths of a block. I'd just keep watching other admins until my time to do it comes around.
To be honest though, because I'm not an admin, I don't know what the extra buttons an admin has does. Until I found out I couldn't say for sure how I would use them, except that I know if I could I would use them for the "secret background" stuff I first mentioned.
Again, thanks for your consideration. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 10:08, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alright then. I'll get the nomination ready and ideally shouldn't find any issues. If I do I'll ask you about them. Wizardman 00:25, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I'll think about my answers to the first three questions in the meantime. How do you usually do your nominations? Create the page and transclude at WP:RFA immediately, or wait until I accept and answer the questions before it's transcluded? Also, you might want to drop a line to User:Pedro. he may or may not wish to co-nom. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 02:06, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WhaT I do is make the page and the nom, then hand it over to you. You can answer the questions and transclude it when you're ready, though if Pedro accepts a co-nom you'd wait for that to be put up. Wizardman 02:08, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Everything looks good. I've went ahead and transcluded it. Good luck, and be on the lookout for questions. Some of my candidates get one or two extra, others 20. Pedro's on wikibreak based on his contribs but hopefully I'll be able to reach him sometime this rfa. Wizardman 03:31, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have replied to your comments at the above discussion, thanks for the review. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 23:31, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

U2 discography[edit]

Sorry that I didn't get a chance to reply again to the FL-nom for U2 discography, but I'd like to help get that list ready to renominate it for FL in the future. If you're interested in helping out, please let me know. Thanks. –Dream out loud (talk) 00:39, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but I'm really not all that interested in doing it. I took it on because the FLC nominator was blocked for being a sockpuppet, rather than because it was a subject I was passionate about. If you do work on it, let me know when you take it back to WP:FLC, and I'll be happy to provide comments. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 01:13, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sepultura discography[edit]

Hi Matthew. Me again. Can you poke your nose around the FLC and provide an updated support/oppose/otherwise? It's at its ten day limit now so I'm keen to keep that backlog down! Hi there,

I just wanted to say thanks for your contribution (directly or indirectly) to have the previous article in Wikipedia, now listed as a Featured List. This will be the first of a set of articles with similar topics for several countries of the Eurozone. The BEHAG is to reach a Featured Topic.

Thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:06, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm currently working on Janet Jackson, Control (Janet Jackson album), Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 and janet.. I'm working to get them all to GA as well as FA (in addition to all articles relating to WP:JANET) and I could always use music-savvy editors to help improve the quality of the prose and overall content. If any aspect of the Janet Project peaks your interest, any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! The Bookkeeper (of the Occult) 12:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you commented at a previous PR review of the Michael Jackson article. Currently the article is at peer review and I will be renominating the article for FA at some point soon. I would really love to know what your opinion is of the articles quality now, either at the PR, the article talk page or even my talk page. The current PR hasn't drawn much attention so I'm in real need of feedback. I hope you can contribute an opinion to this article. Thank you, regards. — Realist2 (Who's Bad?) 18:03, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tampa and Baltimore image mapping[edit]

I am not used to doing this (and I am not very good at describing things) but since Raime is on a wikibreak, I will give it a try.

For List of tallest buildings in Tampa, the gold-colored, ridged building on the right is Wachovia Center (Tampa). Two buildings to the left (the tallest building in the image with triangle shapes at the top) is 100 North Tampa. Between Wachovia Tower and 100 North Tampa and slightly blocked by them is One Tampa City Center. It is the building with the small rectangles located along the top. The blue and white building to the left of 100 North Tampa is Bank of America Tower (Tampa). The dark-colored building directly to the left and partly obstructed by the Bank of America Tower is Park Tower (Tampa, Florida). It is the building with the tall antenna at the top. The shorter building to the left of the Park Tower is SkyPoint. It is blue and has an apex on its left-most side. The circular, off-white building on the far left with the red sign at the top is Rivergate Tower. I believe that is all. If I forgot one or if I was not very descriptive, let me know.

Now, onto List of tallest buildings in Baltimore. The tallest building at the left of the skyline is Legg Mason Building. The building with the scaffolding-like structure at the top, direclty to the right of the Legg Mason Building is 100 East Pratt Street. To the right of 100 East Pratt Street, the building with the horizontal windows and a hexagonal shape is the Baltimore World Trade Center. Barely visible to the right of the Baltimore World Trade Center is the William Donald Schaefer Building. It has a brown color and has a large diagonal roof in the center (vertically) of the building. A US Flag tops out the building. The building with the trapezoid on the top (the trapezoid is black with white borders) on the right of the skyline is Commerce Place (Baltimore). To the right of Commerce Place is 414 Water Street. It has reddish sides with a lighter color for the center and the top three floors. A very small pyramidal structure is on top. I could not identify any other buildings, although they may be there. User:SRX may be able to provide more help if you think more buildings need to be identified.

If you have any questions about the above descriptions, please let me know. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 04:12, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Peter[edit]

I've removed the autoformatting to allow your high-value links to breathe. It's pretty heavily linked. Also, see MOSLINK and CONTEXT, both of which say not to link well-known geographical names. Wapping, maybe. London, definitely not. I'll come back. Tony (talk) 06:04, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit request[edit]

Hello. I see you take copyediting requests for TV-related articles. Could I bother you to do a copyedit of Cold Feet (series 1)? I can bribe you if necessary. Bradley0110 (talk) 17:45, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'll have a look over the next couple of days. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 06:36, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

autoformatting no longer encouraged[edit]

Matthew, this bit at MOSLINK says it all, doesn't it? "Careful consideration of the disadvantages and advantages of the autoformatting mechanism should be made before applying it: the mechanism does not work for the vast majority of readers, i.e., unregistered users and registered users who have not made a setting, and can affect readability and appearance if there are already numerous high-value links in the text." CONTEXT refers by link to that statement: "See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Autoformatting and linking for the advantages and disadvantages of autoformatting in various contexts." Left another comment at Green Bay Packers. I'm too tired to read List of Major League Baseball players from Puerto Rico (it's 1.30 am) so I'll do that tomorrow. As for Boston Bruins, only the final four of my comments have been addressed. The first 6 haven't been touched yet. I did comment only 3 days ago, so I'll give MFC a bit more time on it. Question 7 of RfA[edit]

Don't answer it, it's a trick question.

From Kurt

To clarify a bit, here are the possible scenarios that can arise from this situation:

* Says "no cool-down blocks" because he or she agrees with CW, in which case I can't support because the person is wrong
* Says "no cool-down blocks" because, even though he or she disagrees with CW, still will follow the so-called "rules". In this case, I can't support because the person is more interested in following a bunch of so-called "rules" rather than using his or her own best judgment—not a desirable trait on a project that's supposed to be the antithesis of "rule-boundedness"
* Is in fact favor of cool-down blocks and would in fact go ahead and make them, but goes ahead and answers "no" to pass the RFA. In this case, the person is dishonest, and so I can't support.
* Says "Yes, cool-down blocks are fine" and really means it—I can support
* Says "Yes, cool-down blocks are fine" but is just lying to get my support—likelihood is slim to none, given that everyone else would oppose. Certainly unlikely enough that I can, for all practical purposes, afford to ignore it.

I fail to see what's wrong with forcing people to get off the fence and take a position. Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 14:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Headbomb {ταλκWP Physics: PotW} 16:27, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks for the heads up. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 16:54, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to point out that Kurt, while at times he can be a little annoying, does mean well by that question. My answer would be, "The rules say you shouldnt do them, however, the rules should change since folks give them anyway... whether they want to admit it or not". You should answer the question... not that you have to, since they're all optional. But it would show that you're not scared to "wrongly" answer the question. Qb | your 2 cents 16:40, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All possible answers are wrong, other than one... if he feels like it. If that's not a trick question, I don't know what is. Whether or not he means well can be debated, the fact remains that the question is heavily loaded. Headbomb {ταλκWP Physics: PotW} 17:55, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, now, a trick question means that there is no right answer, or that any answer would result in an oppose. Kurt's older question, "What is a cool-down block" was a trick/loaded question because it encouraged the cookie cutter answer... which would then result in an oppose. Now he's asking if the user believes in them. Which solicits a real, freer, answer. Qb | your 2 cents 18:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. I haven't answered it not because I don't want to, or because I was warned against it, but because I haven't been online much since the question was posed.. Anyway, I expected Kurt to oppose. He opposes nearly everyone, and if it wasn't because he didn't like my answer to his question, it would probably have been per Wisdom. Which is fine. Some people think I may have been a little gung-ho with a couple of them, some don't.. I haven't said I'll block people because of their usernames so there ya go. I probably will answer his question later today. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 18:21, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In all honesty, it doesn't even matter whether you do respond or not unless your answer is asinine to the max such as when in doubt, cool down block is always the way to go. The question is a 100% trick question from someone who, as you already realized, would have opposed you anyways on the basis that you, same as the vast majority of all people on here, don't measure up to his imagined standards. Don't be intimidated by him, his flawed logic can frustrate you but, in all reality, his oppose votes carry no weight whatsoever; the proof of that is in the impossible task of trying to find 10 oppose per Kurt votes anywhere on Wikipedia. Do what you like with the question but my honest opinion is that you got this in the bag and his trap won't do much to hinder you.
Peace! SWik78 (talkcontribs) 19:40, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's an interesting definition you have there of "trick question" then. Perhaps we should stop answering the AGF challenges as well, since they are, by those criteria, trick questions. —  scetoaux (T|C) 05:52, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Peter[edit]

Yeah, I think you're okay with the BLP issues. What I was referring to about logical conclusions was that I was hoping you could avoid any inference that dancing with male strippers was how someone may be exposed as homosexual. The sentence doesn't go that far, I know, but all I was saying was that I've danced with children and animals and it doesn't mean anything about my sexuality whatsoever...! The Rambling Man (talk) 07:58, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

pissed off[edit]

i was not advertising so why did you delete it —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aussieroo2 (talkcontribs) 20:02, 16 July, 2008

Hi. I deleted West Wear ( your school & corporate wear specialist ) because it appeared to be WP:SPAM. The article exclusively promoted a company and needed to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic. Additionally, it did not establish Wikipedia's WP:Notability criteria. Closures[edit]

Morning Matthew. Thanks for your reviews today. As for FLC closures in my and Scorpion's absence, I wouldn't worry too much. I'll close the overdue ones when I return. Unless..... you fancy turning your hand to it for a couple of days? The Rambling Man (talk) 08:48, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Only if I see some SNOW or NOTNOW types, perhaps. There won't be many that are terribly overdue so it shouldn't be too bad. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 08:50, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, fine. Now the backlog's under control, a couple of days here or there aren't a big deal. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:51, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox Law enforcement agency[edit]

Hi Matthew,

I note you have {{Infobox Law enforcement agency}} listed at User:Matthewedwards/Nowrap problems/I.

Is there some WP:NOWRAP problem? If so, if you can let me know what it is, I will see what I can do about it.

Regards. Peet Ern (talk) 23:46, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The infobox isn't using {{nowrap}}, but one of the other templates it is utilising is. That's why it showed up on my list, and I have now stricken it. To be honest, I expect a lot of the templates will be like this, but I figured it was better to list them and check, rather than not to. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 01:06, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I am not sure that {{Infobox Law enforcement agency}} needs to use {{nowrap}}, but I keep it in mind. Peet Ern (talk) 01:47, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you copyedit the History section of Mangalore?[edit]

Hi there, I saw you listed at Wikipedia:PRV#General copyediting as a copyeditor. I was wondering if you would copyedit the History section of Mangalore which is a city article. The article is already a GA and it uses UK English. Language is very simple and the prose is quite precise. Copyediting the section won't take more than 5 minutes. Thanks!.Kensplanet (talk) 14:42, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take your time. Actually, many of the links were obtained from this site

http://can-we-link-it.nickj.org/suggest-links/suggester.php?page=Mangalore
I obtained it from somewhere. Anyway, I appreciate your copy-editing skills. I don't have so much knowledge about WP:MOS. Do have a glance at this section when you are free. Regards, Kensplanet (talk) 15:20, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Both the references were probably made to the Netravati River flowing through Mangalore---This doesn't require a cite tag. REF 18 (http://www.indianchristianity.com/html/Books.htm) has this sentence. I have moved REF18 now. So the sentence doesn't require a tag. I have also removed As for other mythological associations,. So I think the vague tag is not required now. Do correct me if I am wrong. Thanks for your wonderful copyedits that you have made to this page till now, Kensplanet (talk) 04:56, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Many thanks for all your comments, and I now think i've adressed everything you mentioned in the peer review. I was thinking about giving it a shot at becoming a FL, but was wondering if you think it is ready and if I need to close the peer review first? Thanks Rambo's Revenge (talk) 17:13, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's FL ready. But yeah, you'd have to close the PR first. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 17:21, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, done, thanks again. Rambo's Revenge (talk) 17:46, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew,

I'm the author of this article that you deleted on 19/7/08. I'm also one of the owners of London Utd and can assure you that this doesn't infringe any copyright despite what you may think to the contrary. These are pages I've generated and put onto the london United website. Infact, I think you'll find that the basic content was published on wikipedia before being published on the London United website. Please restore the article asap. I also find it bizarre that you can take a unilateral decisions such as this without at least consulting with the author (me!!)Are you an expert in copyright law? My email address is cjm364@yahoo.co.uk and the date and time of this post is 1155hrs BST on 21/7/08.

I look forward to your reply.

Replaceable fair use Image:Randal_Simmons.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Randal_Simmons.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 03:17, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Date-autoformatting removal script[edit]

Hi, yes indeed. The details are here. I'm gradually working my way through existing FAs under sport, war, art etc, and economics. I expect that after a while we'll see a change in the culture (already it's starting at FA I can see). My advice on my talk page is very cautious: there are a few naysayers about at MOSNUM talk and elsewhere; interestingly, most of them say they don't care whether auto is used or not, but just object to mass script applications to change something that's optional. These people need to be persuaded, I think, not confronted. Tony (talk) 06:54, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I noticed the talk page comment you use which you quoted on Milk's Favorite Cookie's page. Under the GDFL, I'll use that! :) Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 07:08, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Little job(s)[edit]

Hi Matthew, can you do me a huge favour and have a look at a few lists for me if you get a chance? The ones in most need right now are WWE No Way Out (FLC), List of Academy Award-winning foreign language films (FLC) and 2008 WWE Draft (FLC. Much appreciated, as always. Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 07:05, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will, but it won't be until around noon, PST (8pm UK time). I'm having an "early" night tonight, sorry. Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 07:08, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All new little job(s)[edit]

Hi Matthew, hope your early night has left you refreshed, full of vigour and vim. So, more favours... 2008 WWE Draft and List of Vancouver Canucks head coaches are most desperate.... Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 10:34, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations[edit]

I go away for a few weeks and suddenly half of the users I know have become administrators (okay, I'm exaggerating, but not by much). Had I been here (and known about it... I usually miss RFAs) I would have almost supported you, but in the end I would have had to oppose per your terrible top 10 song list. Either way, congratulations. -- Scorpion0422 06:03, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, there's nothing wrong with any of those! And thank you muchly! Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 04:27, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I was appreciative of your involvement during this list's first FLC. Now that it is undergoing a second here, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't mind commenting again. Thanks! --Eustress (talk) 17:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Backlog[edit]

Hi Matthew. Due to concerns over my promotion of lists without seemingly sufficient support, I'm backing off a bit. As such, the backlog will now grow. I know it's a lot to ask but could you contribute with reviews and opnions where possible - a lot of the community seem to demand a minimum number of "support" (which I thought we'd removed from the promotion criteria, but hey ho) so your contributions in that area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks as ever. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:30, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for copyediting[edit]

Hi. I currently have the article Insane Clown Posse up as a featured article candidate, and a lot has been added since it was last copyedited. Could you help out? (Ibaranoff24 (talk) 02:12, 27 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Denver Broncos seasons[edit]

You only gave a vote on the FLC. Do you have any feedback to give on this list. Buc (talk) 17:52, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have links to both the nomination and the article? From what I remember, there were many concerns from a few people before I got to it, and there was no reason for me to add more (or the same) to it, which is why I opposed straight off the bat. Were all those issues resolved? Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 04:26, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See Denver Broncos seasons, I'm pretty sure I took care of everything, I've left note on all the users talk pages but no one has replied yet. Buc (talk) 16:57, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FLC backlog[edit]

Matthew, I know your a man in demand, but if you could have a look at the backlog for me, particularly the discographies, I'd be really grateful. Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:30, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew, I've archived G-Unit discog, just too many issues right now, and I'm afraid I'll probably be archiving Degrassi 7 too. The FLC has become a lengthy PR and I think the very size of it has put off anyone from supporting it. However, I don't see a major issue with restarting the nom pretty much straight away - just freshen it up a bit. Hope you understand. All the best The Rambling Man (talk) 10:14, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Matthew, thanks for your note. I think I meant freshen the nomination up rather than the list - when the FLC's get as long as the Degrassi one, people tend not to contribute, TLDR and all that. As for The Sun, it turned out to be a different one anyway, but I'd usually avoid tabloid references where possible. It was only a suggestion and, when push comes to shove, I suppose it depends what it's referencing. Anyway, thanks again, and keep up the good work. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:54, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
