File source problem with File:GTLogo-color.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:GTLogo-color.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:42, 2 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 19:42, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I made some adjustments to the Copyright information but I have no idea if I have done it right. Can anyone out there help a new user?

Fair use rationale for File:GTLogo-color.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GTLogo-color.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 19:42, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Global Traveler Image[edit]

Well the one i tagged as orphan File:GTLogo-color.pdf you probably dont want to save because its a PDF however the jpeg version (File:GTLogo-color.jpg) would be a good logo to save.

To stop an image you want add a fair use rationale, try using this image as a guide, File:Aqueduct Press Logo.png. The problem with your image though is its a non-free image being used on a User page which isnt allowed and probably should of been removed. My best advice would be to save the logo elsewhere and let it be deleted and then re-upload the image when you have moved your Global Traveler to the main space. Try at least to add a fair use to your image because every non-free upload you do needs one. Salavat (talk) 14:27, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

August 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. You may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guideline to avoid editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Ah - and I see now that you've put in the request for a change; thanks; that overlapped with me writing this message. You left the live chat, and I thought I'd better post the above to make sure you knew about the necessity.
The change should be processed within a few days.
Re. the proposed draft, User:GTMag/Global_Traveler - I suggest you read the business FAQ - you need to take great care that it is neutral and that ALL the facts are referenced, mostly to independent relibable sources - you can use primary sources but only with great care, for very simple, neutral info.
Currently, all of the 'History' (for example) is not verifiable. If this information has not been published independently (e.g. in a newspaper article about the org), then it should not be included.
"Magazine Sections" falls foul of WP:NOTDIR, and again is unlikely to be independently verifiable; same for "Global Traveler Surveys".
The names in "Contributors" probably should not be there at all; it might be OK to name people for whom there is a Wikipedia article (ie they are notable in their own right, but for the others, be careful of the policy regarding non-public figures.
In general, it contains lots of inappropriate promotional writing, for example The charity is international and partners with organizations and individuals all around the world to fulfill their mission of providing supplies and a solid foundation for children - this is non-neutral, opinion, not fact, and not supported by independent reliable sources.
I hope that helps a bit. Best,  Chzz  ►  14:35, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for all of your help!

Changing your username to 'Globility' does not solve the problem! As I said in IRC, you need to choose a nickname that is NOT related to the company in any way.
Please see here, and if you edit that section you could please put a more appropriate new name. Thanks.  Chzz  ►  14:47, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did I fix the problem? —Preceding unsigned comment added by GTMag (talkcontribs) 15:02, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chzz- I am confused about wikipedia in general and I am hoping you can clear a few things up for me. First of all, in terms of notability... I included the ABC Audit website. Does that not count as a reliable third party? Also, I am getting the impression that this needs to be just the cold hard facts. I cannot go into details about parts of the magazine? I was just basing off what other similar magazines had put... so I am confused as to why theirs work and my don't. Any help you can offer would be GREATLY appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GTMag (talkcontribs) 16:16, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
