Category:Wikipedians in Esperanza[edit]

As an admin with a link to a deleted category on your user page, maybe you could enlighten me on the policy of listing non-existant categories on user and/or article pages? Dbiel 02:58, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to remove it, every time I (or a bot) try to remove categories on this page the formatting messes up. The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 03:13, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have no desire to edit your user page, just trying to understand some of the Wikipedia principles. As far as your statement about trying to remove categories messing up the format I also have a hard time of following. I have recreated your page in my user space and edited it to remove the categories that do not exist. See: User:Dbiel/ScratchPad/test
The lines that were removed:
 ;
and

I have no idea what they are intended to accomplish.
Nor do I understand what your intent is in creating the following links:
professional level of Bullshit.
Where clicking on either the word professional or Bullshit will open up a new page editor to create the page Category:User en-B-5
I kind of have the feeling that you simply copied and pasted the entire block of copy from another source.
Feel free to copy, delete, blank etc the copy of your page in my user namespace. I will be deleting it anyway as it was only used to test out some of the code used on your page. Dbiel 04:46, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
After a category was deleted, a bot would come by and remove the category, but wreck the formatting of the page (see this revision as an example). Except for maybe the cockney one (which I added as a joke), all of the dead categories existed at some point in time. When they were removed and the page messed up, I would try to fix it, but I ended up just reverting the edits because I couldn't get the page to show up correctly without the categories. I am not trying to accomplish anything by keeping the categories (except for no script errors ;-). Thank you for fixing it, I have adopted your version on my page. In the future, feel free to edit the page to fix such things, it is a wiki after all and I have no problem with other users editing my userpage first and asking questions later (unless it is trolling or vandalism, of course). Cheers, The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 21:33, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your formating problems are the result of the accidental deletion of a carriage return with the category entry was deleted. See the following:
text on one sentence of information.
|}</div>
When the category was deleted it became:
text on one sentence of information.|}</div>
Changing it back to:
text on one sentence of information.
|}</div>
corrects the formatting problem
I hope this helps a bit Dbiel 23:09, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I'll keep this in mind in case such an error happens again. I appreciate the help. The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 19:24, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes[edit]

copied from my user page - Dbiel (Sorry to keep bothering you about this) Now that you've fixed the problem on my subpage, do you want me to delete the test page that you created for it? The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 15:45, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

No bother at all. Yes, feel free to delete the page in my user namespace. I will include a deletion flag on the page to further indicate my permission. Actually as far as fixing the page, I only showed you how it could be done. Another user came in and deleted one of the categories. I also notice that a bot has come in and did a bit of editing as well. Glad I was able to help a bit. Dbiel 16:11, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
