VC awardees article names[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia does not use honorary suffixes in the names of articles for people who have received awards and your recent changes have been reverted. Please see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people) for the relevant guidance. Nick-D (talk) 07:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm afraid I don't really understand what Nick's saying, so I'll give you my interpretation.
These are notable people, and their deeds should be acknowledged and honoured. I think everyone agrees with you on that point.
If you look at the contents of the articles you will see that the articles do this.
This is also done via a number of other means too. For example, List of Australian Victoria Cross recipients and Category:Australian Victoria Cross recipients
So, putting VC on the end of the article name isn't really helping much. If EVERY other article about a VC recipient contained VC in the article name, then there would be some point in so doing. In fact, the VC would already be there, and would have been there for some time.
If you take up Nick's suggestion and look at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people), you will quickly understand why the VC is NOT in the article name.
But thanks for the thought, and best wishes for your further enjoyment of wikipedia. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:20, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Preview button for edits[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edit(s) to List of Yamaha motorcycles, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. -- Brianhe (talk) 14:27, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Yamaha_YC1.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Yamaha_YC1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:17, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
