Daniel William Sooman (born: June 15, 1997 [age 24]), better known online as Dani (also known as DaniDev and DaniMilkman, formerly dwsGames), is a Norwegian YouTuber born in Bergen, Norway. On Daniel's main YouTube channel, he posts videos mainly consisting of him developing games in Unity using the C# programming language.

Early programming experience[edit]

When Daniel was 15, he was introduced to the Java programming language for the first time, and after learning it for a while, he fell in love with it. He would make simple games with core Java using the IntelliJ IDEA for Java by JetBrains. After a while, Daniel wanted to make better games and was introduced to several Game Engines, but chose Unity as it uses C#, which was similar to Java.

Development series[edit]

Daniel has a running series where his fans challenge him to make games, by saying "Or you can't do that?". This has led to some interesting projects by Daniel, including an upcoming game called Karlson which is now on Steam awaiting release. Not long after making the initial game he then made a follow-up video showing the process of him making the Multiplayer aspect of his game Karlson. In mid-2021, he made a PC game called "Muck" when he was challenged like this in "He said I Couldn't Make a Multiplayer Survival Game...So I Made One!".

Karlson[edit]

Karlson is a game planned to be released on Steam, sometime in the future. The game began as a joke from a user called Jotaro music's comment, saying "Why don't you make 3d game (or you cant do that)". Dani specialized in 2D based games, with Off The Balls, Fair n Square, and many more. Karlson actually originated from a 2D game, named "Karlson 2D". In the video of which Daniel begins the development of Karlson 3D, he learned, through Brackey's, how to make 3D movements in Unity C#. However, instead of using that movement code, he learned to make his own 3D movements. Then he worked on the weapons, but instead of doing what most developers would do (making models in blender), he made 3D models for the weapons in Pro Builder, a Unity tool that is usually used in 3D level making. Using Pro Builder brought up some strange occurrences, like when he implemented picking up and dropping weapons, if done repeatedly it would deform the weapon in weird ways. He then moved on to enemies, and their AI. Realizing that making an enemy in Pro Builder would be a challenge, he found a tutorial by CG Geek, then rigging the character, with the help of a tutorial by Sebastian Lague, for animations in Unity, a mistake Dani mentions. After spawning in the enemy, he noticed a pretty big error. The enemy was way too big to be fair. So he animated the enemy to walk, instead of sliding towards the player. Then made them Naruto run towards the player. The rest are general upgrades, excluding the video in which Dani implements multiplayer, as described by Dani "A very CS:GO type of multiplayer." As of now, he mentions Karlson a few times in his videos, telling gamers to "smash Wishlist now, gamers!".

Some of Dani's favorite things[edit]

Daniel's favorite things consist of Milk and Unity's Particle System. He used to hate OJ Gang, but he is now friends with them.

Some of Daniel's favorite quotes are "Thicc", "Unity's Particle System", and "Milk". He also likes calling his fans boners (coming from the Norwegian word for subscribe "abonner"/the fact that Milk gives you strong bones).

Video Games & Coding[edit]

Dani has made many games on his channel, the most notable one currently is called Karlson and is awaiting to be released on Steam. But he has made other original games like Fair n' Square and Off the Balls. He also created a game named "Tree Team" as his part in the Team Trees project, which had a goal of raising a total of 20 million dollars by the end of 2019, and for every dollar raised, Arbor Day Foundation will plant a tree. Dani inserted ads in his game and all revenue was donated to Team Trees.

The game that started his YouTube-career was called Off the Sticks, of which he uploaded 21 dev-log videos of, spanning from October 2018 to July 2019. He took a break from the game due to getting burnt out and has made no more videos of it since December 2019, leading to the game being presumed cancelled.

He has also developed games under a time limit, in which he would make that game within a certain deadline.

  • He made a video of making a mobile game in a day.
  • He later made a game in just two days.
  • He made another challenge of making himself a website which he used to advertise the games he made and so he can post his mobile game to the App Store.
  • He made a game in 48 hours.
  • Another game he made in 12 hours.
  • He made a game in one hour.

He then made a VR game under the challenge of his fans. Due to his devotion to milk, he named the headset he made Oculus Milk, also partially because he made the headset out of milk boxes. He also made an item called the "Dani Box 3000" for his making a game with a banana video.

On June 5, 2021, Dani got his first game officially released on Steam, and it is titled Muck. On October 29, 2021, in response to the popularity of the show Squid Game, he made Crab Game. Both games gained praise & applause and gained popularity among small and bigger YouTubers worldwide.
