U.S. Route 13 Business (US 13 Business) is a business route of U.S. Route 13 in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs 2.48 miles (3.99 km) between US 13 in Pocomoke City north to US 13 and MD 364 in West Pocomoke. US 13 Business is the old alignment of US 13 in southwestern Worcester County and southeastern Somerset County.
Route description[edit]
US 13 Business begins at a partial directional intersection with US 13 (Ocean Highway) on the southern edge of Pocomoke City. The highway heads northwest as a two-lane street that intersects the western end of MD 366 (Stockton Road) before intersection Old Virginia Road. Old Virginia Road to the east is unsigned MD 250A, the old alignment of US 113 (Worcester Highway) that connects US 13 Business with the present US 13 – US 113 intersection. US 13 Business continues northwest through the Pocomoke City Historic District. Within the district, the business route intersects the old alignments of MD 756 (Old Snow Hill Road) and MD 371 (Cedar Hall Road), which are Sixth Street and Second Street, respectively. US 13 Business also passes the historic Crockett House, Young-Sartorius House, and Mar-Va Theater. At the west edge of the downtown area, the highway veers west and crosses the Pocomoke River into Somerset County on a bascule bridge.[1][3] A short distance west of the bridge, Market Street Extended continues straight as the old alignment while US 13 Business makes a right angle turn to the north to its northern terminus in West Pocomoke at an intersection with US 13 (Ocean Highway) and MD 364 (Dividing Creek Road), which heads straight on the opposite side of the intersection toward Pocomoke State Forest.[2][3]
