Added links to subpages of their law firm's web site. Some of these pages were borderline informative, but they did not improve or enhance the material in the linked articles (as in Collateral source rule). Other links were more tenuous, as in Magnetic resonance imaging or Slipped disc; in these articles the putative links to 'Sample MRIs' actually lead only to short, sample, redacted MRI reports, with no images. These links are totally useless, and will waste the time of readers. Links inserted into the article bodies (as in Interrogatories) are certainly out of line with our Manual of Style, and may be deceptive attempts to lead readers to an offsite page.

As of 01:03, 12 August 2006 (UTC), I have encountered 12 links. (11 found via linksearch, one through my watchlist.)

Action

I have reviewed the links and found that on balance they're mostly useless; those that are not aren't particularly helpful. Given that they've been added for the purpose of linkspamming for a law firm, I've removed the links in almost all cases. Where appropriate (as in voir dire) I've replaced the commercial link with an academic or public domain source.

New links appear every few days; including the readdition of links to articles from which they have been removed (as in, again, MRI.) (Updated 19:05, 15 August 2006 (UTC))

I have asked Mike Teflon (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) to review our external linking policies and practices. This is the only logged-in editor who seems to be associated with Miller and Zois; some links have been inserted from AOL addresses. 23:40, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

This is a blog operated by Miller & Zois and under their banner. Links to it are starting to appear in articles on various topics, including the drug Trastuzumab (discussion of side effects already described in the article) and motorcycle helmet (a link to a discussion of contributory negligence and not wearing helmets). Again, these links have been pruned as necessary. 14:49, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
