Baloxavir marboxil (BXM), sold under the brand name Xofluza, is an antiviral used to treat and prevent influenza (flu).[2] It is used in those over the age of 11 who have been sick for less than 48 hours.[2] It decreases recover time by about a day.[3] It is taken by mouth as a single dose.[2]

Common side effects include diarrhea, bronchitis, nausea, sinusitis, and headache.[2] Other side effects may include anaphylaxis.[2] Safety in pregnancy is unclear.[2] It is a influenza virus polymerase acidic (PA) endonuclease inhibitor.[2]

Baloxavir marboxil was approved for medical use in the United States and Japan in 2018.[2][4] It was approved in Europe and the United Kingdom in 2021.[5] In the United States a course of treatment costs about 160 USD as of 2022.[6]
