Poynton Bradbury Wynter Cole (PBWC; known as Poynton Bradbury Wynter from 1995 to 2006)[1] is a British architecture firm based in St Ives, Cornwall since 1973.[3]

History[edit]

The company was founded in 1973,[3] and was previously based in the Old Sail Lofts on Bethesda Hill.[4]

Mike Bradbury stepped down as a director of the company in 2012 to set up his own architecture firm.[5]

In 2013, PBWC designed its new headquarters, Atlantic Studio.[2] The building was built between February and October 2013 and constructed on the site of a former petrol station on Trelyon Avenue.[3][2] It was opened in December 2013.[6] The project cost £700,000, half of which was covered by a Regional Growth Fund grant from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership.[7]

It has been involved in many local projects including Penameyne Court in St Ives,[8]

In 2013, the firm's work on the new Lizard lifeboat station earned a Construction Excellence award and won the South West Local Authority Building Control's Best Technical Design award.[9]

In 2015, PBWC designed Chy Trevail, a £12m new office building for Cornwall Council in Bodmin.[10] The building used local materials - De Lank granite, slate and copper - for its different facades.[11]

Tolvaddon House, which PBWC had designed for LiveWest, won the Property of the Year in the Michelmores Property Awards 2019 and was highly commended in the Best Large Commercial Project category in the LABC Building Excellence Awards.[12][13]
