Longer term plans[edit]

My intention once this timeline is fairly complete is to split it out into timelines by century, and only keep the really major events here. That won't be for a while though. Any comments? --Andreas Philopater (talk) 15:31, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes my country was born in 1830, like every Belgian learns in school. Before we were French and part of the austrian Empire. End of logic.
And the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland came into existence in 1922, but that's not when its history starts! As to the suggestion I made 2 years ago of splitting out by century, the past few weeks I've actually been splitting out the denser clusters of content by year (1632 in Belgium, 1789 in Belgium, 1831 in Belgium, 1958 in Belgium). I'm not entirely sure "in Belgium" is the best phrasing here, but it fits the Template:Year in Belgium created by Jackninja5 back in 2014. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 19:29, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What do you do with the history of the north of France? Belgium too? Congo? Belgium too? This is not realistic.--Carolus (talk) 18:59, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Congo was never part of Belgium, but events in Congo involving Belgium are clearly part of Belgian history. Lille and Douai were parts of the County of Flanders (in much the same way that Dublin was part of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1922). So Lille and Douai would be included when part of the County of Flanders. Do you have an alternative suggestion? --Andreas Philopater (talk) 19:26, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As to Belgium not existing before 1830, I suppose it depends what you mean by "Belgium". --Andreas Philopater (talk) 21:37, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Andreas Philopater:: It does fit in with it but if it's not "Belgium", another infobox should be created for it and the pages be renamed. The Ninja5 Empire (Talk) 09:16, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That's a job for somebody who can design or redesign templates. I'll just stick to putting content in the existing formats, when I get back to it. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 08:37, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Years in Belgium[edit]

For years bluelinked at List of years in Belgium, most material can go to the year, and only really major things be kept on the timeline. For redlinked years, this can provide a holding space for information. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 15:45, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
