song lyrics / versions ?[edit]

The lyrics quoted here (the "juleps and rum" line) are not only unknown to me, but they also don't seem as if they'd fit into the rhythm of any version of "Molly and Tenbrooks" that I've heard, or that I can find.

Where are they from?

Perhaps there's actually more than one song?

This should be clarified.

Also, a link to the song lyrics (perhaps the Bill Monroe version) would seem appropriate here.

  • Yeah, I don't know those particular lyrics either. I wonder if it actually comes from some version of the unrelated race horse song Skewball; it seems to fit the rhythm (see, for example the "Harding B-25" version here). I've marked those lyrics as needing a citation.
