German surrender[edit]

I'm surprised there's no mention of the German surrender that took place here in 1945. The crossing of the broken Tangermunde bridge and the German armys position between the allies, made it quite a notable location at the time and well reported overseas. Well, it is true that the 12th Army "Wenck" together with the remnants of the 9th Army on their retreat from Berlin across the Elbe bridge (previously blown up by the Wehrmacht - on the same day that the Allies entered Stendal and Tangermünde) surrendered to the Allies at Tangermünde. The official signing of the surrender, however, took place in Stendal. 2A02:8108:87C0:3248:3948:3CEC:FFE:C0F3 (talk) 01:12, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
