This article tells very little about the "Seal of the Confessional" in Anglicanism, and it utterly fails to address modern developments, such as canonical rites of penance & auricular confession which have been promulgated by both the Episcopal Church USA and the Church of England. Since the article is so disorganized and does not address the title (which is the "seal" of the confessional), it should be re-written or will be deleted.

This is rescued from Catholic Encyclopedia and I agree that it desparately needs updating. However, there is useful historical stuff here (I found it interesting rescuing it) and it is not suitable for deletion. Most people on here would probably consider blanking as WP:vandalism. This needs MAJOR work! The current article is heavily loaded, and without any consideration of modern development or practice it completely fails to maintain a neutral POV. I've just read it through a second time. This article should reflect the Anglican position on the subject matter, surely?! Instead a significant proportion is merely the commentary of another denomination (Roman Catholic), and that written at a time when ecumenism did nothing to inform the commentary of one church upon another! The historical stuff will be valuable to somebody even if you don't care. Blanking is vandalism. Fully support update but don't lose historical stuff. Solution could be to move to a separate History article. Rewrite in a less POV manner would, of course, be welcome.Cutler 21:04, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. I think we all know that none of us is proposing vandalism! A quick check of the edit history of all of us in this conversation will reveal that none of us is a vandal! Nobody has suggested blanking the page; doubtless much of the historical information will be useful; the problem is that the article needs to be written from a neutral POV (rather than a largely hundred-year-old Roman Catholic POV!), AND it needs to reflect modern Anglican thinking and practice, which is currently totally absent. Much of the info had nothing to do with the "seal" and it seemed to be out to "prove" that the "protestant Church of England" does not practice "valid" confessions. The artcile should probably now be merged with another article on anglican confession or sacraments. Not much links here as it is. -- SECisek 18:13, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
