Controversy[edit]

Sorry, but it's a little suspicious that this biased "Controversy" section pops up a few days after Prague begins cracking down on its alleged image as a binge-drinking, hedonistic playground. Did Prague hire a PR firm to do damage control?

This section reads like a press release intended to gloss over the darker aspects of a city's reputation, and lacks citations. It should be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.72.6.96 (talk) 18:27, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree. It is true that a spokesperson for the police says police investigation concluded actors were hired and the documentary faked. However, nothing substantial has really been put forward in order to prove the said allegations.

Other parts of the "controversy" just seems strange. Someone claims the bar in question has been closed for several years. This is definitely not true. The bar itself can be found on google maps http://goo.gl/maps/G6yi8 The picture seems to be from August in 2011, as some posters across the street is dated such. http://goo.gl/maps/yZDz9. It might be closed in 2013, but even if it closed down in 2011, it's a liberal use of the word "several".

I'd also like to add, that just because the show was published for the first time in 2012, it doesn't mean everything has had to be shot in 2012.

And that the cab company Euro Taxi is gone is not really proof of anything other than the cabs using old equipment for writing receipts or that the program was shot some time ago. I don't have any information on when or even if the cabs stopped using the Euro Taxi logo on their bills, but it seems the same person who ran Euro Taxi started a company called AAA Taxi s.r.o in January 2009. I don't know it this company exists today, but the name they chose is similar to one of the reputable firms in the city. It just seems Euro Taxi switched names. At any rate, the "controversy" section needs some attendance.

National Geographic itself has stated that the show portrays "true renderings" of situations. However you interpret that statement, it's clearly an acknowledgment that it is staged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.250.196.151 (talk) 02:14, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if some of the spinning (both ways) has to do with the fact that, once caught, scammers need some sort of incentive to appear on screen ... I've always wondered that about the show: Connor reveals that the jig is up, there's some back and forth with the scammer, then there's a voiceover announcement that "the scammer has agreed to tell us all" ... How do you think that happens? So, once caught, someone might be offered money to take the risk of appearing on camera - let's face it, the other folks perpetrating this scam won't be happy with them - now, if you don't like what the show has portrayed, can you now say: "that the filmmakers had paid criminals to appear in the videos"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.194.74.164 (talk) 19:40, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This link above doesn't seem to be the official one since the page of this show should be hosted in Net Geo site — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.214.180.170 (talk) 16:13, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
