Reason for arson attack?[edit]

An email being widely circulated states that she was targeted in retaliation for her retrictive policies on immigration, supposedly aimed at Muslims. The article doesn't mention any of this but should answer the "rumor" if untrue.Student7 (talk) 20:30, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was a column actually. Try:

The perpetrators were never found and all we know about who they are and their motives is from the email taking responsibility for the attack. The important bit (that the government's "racist refugee politics" is the reason for the attack) is already quoted in the article. If you'd like to read the full text (quoted from [1]):

In my own translation:

We will not apologize - We will act

In protest against Denmark's refugee politics we have set fire to integration and refugee minister Rikke Hvilshøj's car at her home [address removed].
In a shameless hypocrisy, Fogh has apologized for the Danish state's handover of Jews on the run from Nazi Germany. This opportunistic apology came at a time when 1940 refugees await extradition from Denmark. We will not watch passively while the official Denmark exercises its racist refugee politics.
Therefore we act now.

Danish wikipedia has an unsourced analysis by a linguist describing the grammar and choice of words as those of a well-educated Dane. But that's pretty much all there is to be said.
The account given in the link you provided—that Muslims are behind it—seems unfounded and certainly isn't something I've seen in any Danish news sources. And the account it gives of Abu Laban and the blood money is entirely wrong. The real story is that Abu Laban proposed that the guy who pulled the trigger should pay blood money and that he was unable to do so, Laban's organization would help raise the money. There was no demand that the government should make the payment. I've removed the link from the article (by the way the original is here) because it appears to be a biased account published by a minor site that allows their agenda to taint the content of their articles.
