"Acclaimed"[edit]

User:Belovedfreak: actually I do think that the statement "He is acclaimed as one of the most significant composers of church music today" is supported by the reference: "enjoys an international reputation as a composer of church music" and furthermore the other references used later on back this up: "He is one of the most frequently performed and broadcast composers of church music" and "(his) choral works are sung in churches throughout the world".—Preceding unsigned comment added by Jay-Sebastos (talkcontribs) 10:24, 19 June 2010

Ok, now I'm a little confused; are you the same editor as User:Dust429? They were the one that reverted. Anyway, no—the source cited says "Richard Shephard enjoys an international reputation as a composer of church music." That is not the same at all. If other references back that up, then use them, if indeed they say that he is "acclaimed as one of the most significant composers of church music today". Another point to remembr is that the University of York employs him, so of course they are not an independent reliable source.--BelovedFreak 12:37, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I thought that things like PhD were usually added: e.g. Francis Collins (geneticist). Jay-Sebastos (talk) 12:50, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Undoubtedly many articles do use them, but WP:CREDENTIAL clearly states that they should not be. David Underdown (talk) 12:59, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
