Rheum ribes and Iranian Mythology[edit]

"There it is stated that the first human pair grew at the time of the autumnal equinox in the form of a rheum ribes [Rydberg calls this a "reivac" bush. There seems to be no adequate translation of this word. It is a member of the rhubarb family native to the Middle East.] with a single stalk." < Investigations into Germanic Mythology, Volume 1 by Viktor Rydberg & "After forty years it brought forth the first human pair, Mashya and Mashyoi, under the appearance of a rivas-plant (Rheum ribes) with one stem and fifteen leaves, because the human couple were intimately united and were born at the age of fifteen years" < Iranian Mythology Chapter III.
