Marxist economist[edit]

Based on what I know of Patnaik, the descriptor is likely justifiable, but it needs a source, and the source used here does not cut it; it's authored by Patnaik himself. We need a reliable secondary source, else this is falling afoul of WP:BLP, and WP:V. Pinging @Tayi Arajakate, Jenos450, Aaallmann, and Scottywong:. • I don't know much about Patnaik so I removed it because from my understanding, it would be inappropriate to claim that he's a Marxist on the basis that he wrote a piece in a communist paper. One can engage with an idea without subscribing to it. The line "Prabhat Patnaik is a staunch critic of neoliberal economic policies, Hindutva and is known as a social scientist of Marxist-Leninist persuasion." which is cited to the same also appears to fail verifiability, his piece doesn't make any reference to Neoliberal policies or Hindutva.
In fact most of the material in the article doesn't have appropriate citations. I'll see if there are sources which can verify at least some of this. Tayi Arajakate Talk 14:28, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that general sourcing improvements are necessary. This claim is an exceptional one, and should be removed until a good source is found; my only point is that it ought to be sourceable. Vanamonde (Talk) 15:59, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I had to dig a bit but I found some reliable secondary sources that have at times used the descriptor of "Marxist economist" for him.

Although I should mention that on most occasions he is just described as a simple "economist". Tayi Arajakate Talk 17:13, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
