The 1900 Mortgage Bank Act (HBG) is deemed pioneering legislation until today.[edit]

Please consider a reference to the Danish Mortgage Act of 1850, cf. the entry Danish mortgage market.

The Danish act was inspired by the works of A. F. Bergsøe, especially "Udkast til en Kreditforening for danske Grundbesiddere" (Draft for a mortgage credit association for Danish landowners), 1839, which again drew on German experiences.
