  • Oh my. New enough, long enough, I see no copyvio. Shockingly well-sourced – people love dogs – neutral and BLP-compliant. This is good to go! ezlev (user/tlk/ctrbs) 20:12, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Breed[edit]

Why is he listed as a Labrador Retriever if none of the sources claim he was a Labrador but instead different breeds? Traumnovelle (talk) 08:25, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Traumnovelle Almost all of the contemporary sources use Labrador Retriever. I have little faith that the journalists of the era got the breed correct when they were inventing stories about the dog's history. Pinchot would've known I would think, but I'm not sure what breed a "Scotch retriever" is meant to be. Labrador Retrievers were first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1917, but they may have been referred to then by a different name. gobonobo + c 19:34, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should add the sources that state Pep was a Labrador Retriever to the first section of early life. Currently with just the note pointing out all the different breeds that have been recorded except for Labrador makes it seems unsourced/original research. This is hilarious![edit]

I saw it through the "Did you know" section on the main page. Well done! Félix An (talk) 07:26, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Same! These kooky sorts of articles make me love Wikipedia. Crunchydillpickle🥒 (talk) 16:22, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Strange![edit]

Strange how someone decided it would be a good use of their time to spend hours writing this article. Second, this article is very strangely worded trying to sensationalize a dog being in prison. Completely absurd. Carry on. Alexysun (talk) 07:43, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
