2008?[edit]

Penelope is a 2006 film, as noted by IMDB and on other Wikipedia entries which mention it. --PhantomofFire (talk) 09:03, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just becasue it was theatrically released to the US (and UK) in 2008 does not make it a 2008 film. Its production and premier happened in 2006, so it is a 2006 film. --PhantomofFire (talk) 09:14, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering if the reason that the release is listed as 2008 is because the version released in the U.S. on DVD differs significantly from the movie as it was seen in theaters. It is my understanding that a few key scenes were cut, and the scene with Penelope's literal unmasking is different in the DVD version. And I'd very much like to find out how to get my hands on the original version, because it sounds superior to the film on DVD. Could someone with more knowledge of the film world find out what happened on this film, and how studios can make significant changes like this and not make it clear that revisions like this have occurred? Chicken or Egg?[edit]

What I would like to know is which came first, the book or the movie? The wikipedia articles on the movie and on Marilyn Kaye seem to indicate that the book was written first and that the movie is based on the book, but when I look up the book on amazon, it states explicitly on the cover that Marilyn Kaye wrote the book based on the screenplay. This indicates to me that the book was based on the movie rather than the other way around. Perhaps these articles should be changed?--BigBang616 (talk) 08:06, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Country[edit]

Cast in the summary[edit]

I've removed who the various actors portray from the summary since one of them is a huge spoiler. People expect to find spoilers in the plot section, but there's no need to put them in the summary, this isn't Citizen Kane after all. Furthermore, I don't think anybody will recognise the characters so there's not much point having them in the summary anyway. Shadebug (talk) 16:11, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Based on a Faery Tale?[edit]

Different edits of the film[edit]

I have two different versions of this film and they very by almost 20 minutes in running time. Also I watched them side by side and the opening of two versions are cut very differently from each other. Dubious - Decades?!![edit]

Plot begins saying "Decades earlier" and precedes to describe events over five generations and then two more generation later with the birth of a grand-daughter, and then this girl is a young adult....
