I am german and would like to suggest that you keep "Max von Montgelas" and use "Max Montgelas" as a redirect to "Max von Montgelas" because this is how we refer to this person - also to distinguish him from Maximilian von Montgelas (his grandfather). Both names are short versions because if you also add the title of nobility you would have to call him "Max Graf von Montgelas" but with this name he could be more difficult to find on wikipedia - but still this version could also used as a redirect.
