Notability[edit]

I'm not sure this data satisfies WP:LISTN. Are Mount Everest guides (past and present) commonly discussed as a group or set by independent reliable sources? --Animalparty-- (talk) 16:13, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is literally tens of thousands of book, magazine, and newspaper articles about Mount Everest guides. Fotaun (talk) 16:50, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

  • Very odd to list alphabetically by first name, rather than surname
  • No Tenzing Norgay? The best known of all Everest guides with his own article already

Thanks for the feeback. I have been taking it very slow because of the rocky start and left out all the sherpa's because I was debating putting them in a dedicated sherpa article. I have only begun to realize the extraordinary impact of climbing on the Sherpa people and there is a lot more than just guides, but also cooks, tea-houses, and porters. On a related note, one reason that I was not using last names for ordering is because the Sherpa people really just have a single name and tend use "Sherpa" as a surname but this is not consistent. However, like I said I was taking it slow so I wouldn't consider anything here to necessarily be a definitive view of how the article should be. Thanks Fotaun (talk) 20:53, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
