Mayor elections[edit]

Hello Ilaiho! You removed my critics of the mayor election in Finland. His below 2000 votes (1.75 %) in the municipal elections does not confirm that Jukka Mäkelä would have been elected in the direct elections. In my opinion it is relevant here since it can be expressed as critics to Jukka Mäkelä status as mayor of Espoo. E.g. according to the president election it has not been selfevident that the majority party will have the president elected. Also on pages fi:Kunnanjohtaja Suomessa, fi:Pormestari and Human rights in Finland. In my opinion the used Finnish word "pormestari" is not neutral. It sounds authoritarian to me. I prefer to elect "Kunnanjohtaja" also in the direct elections.

European council recommends for its member states the direct citizen election of mayor / city manager. This is in place e.g. in Germany, France and the USA. Finland has a peculiar system with no direct election power of the citizens. ^[1] The politicians elect the mayors. This increases the potential risks of corruption. The mayor has no direct responsibility to the citizens.

Such things do not belong to this article, since they are not specific to Jukka Mäkelä. Proper place would be Mayor article. And the last three sentences seem to be your own conclusions. If they are, they should not be in Wikipedia. Only notable and verifiable opinions should be mentioned in Wikipedia. --ilaiho (talk) 19:43, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
