Clean up of this article[edit]

I cleaned up this article just now, but want to say to User:Geo Swan who started it that the stub you created was an insult. You had his date of birth in 1844, which was as close as you came to any real biographical information. This article was nothing more than a foil for your ongoing Guantanamo Bay series of stubs. I have cleaned up a number of your stubs, including Gareth Peirce Clive Stafford Smith and others. It is an insult for you to start articles which consist only of an off hand slap, designed to slander the individual. Worst case is Carolyn Wood, but there are about 20 others you have started, most with typographical errors, POV issues and clearly disputed facts. You are obviously using Wikipedia as a Google bomb. WP:MILHIST Assessment[edit]

A fine start, but I think this article could use some expansion in every section. The introduction needs some work - what is he truly notable for? If it's being a Green Beret, camp counselor, and lawyer, then leave it as it is. If he's notable for being appointed to oversee Guantanamo, then that should go first. "Major General John D. Altenburg Jr. (U.S. Army ret.), (b. June 10, 1944), is the appointed authority for military commissions covering detainees at Guantanamo..." Also, the quote is great to include, but I think there should be some in-line context beyond a link to the citation. When and where was this said, and in what context? I have made some changes to this article. I have eliminated criticism that is unsourced and violates POV, as well as the entire conflict of interest portion. You must tread warily in these areas, Geoswan. The criticism was directed to Brownback, who was asked to step down because of his pre-exisitng friendship with General Altenberg which could have, hypothetically, affected his indepdendence as a prosecutor.
