Proposed mergers[edit]

There are many articles on Jesus, as can be seen at Jesus and History. Much of the content overlaps. Would it not be a good idea to merge these sites, with brief and focused fork articles to expand on certain points without repeating all the detail over again? towards a solution of the Jesus mess[edit]

we don't do list of Wikipedia in article space. As such, this page would belong under Portal:Contents, where such lists are proper. But the problem goes beyond that. There are a lot of difficult to maintain articles, all discussing "Jesus and history", all defended vigorously by their respective WP:OWNers. This mess would be comparatively easy to sort out by an experienced editor given free hand, but it has been festering for years due to the concerted resistance on the part of editors with both religious and anti-religious povs. At the moment the situation is a good example of what Wikipedia wants to avoid at all cost, a set of articles discussing "Jesus and history" from the religionist pov, and a set of counter-articles discussing the same from the anti-religion pov. The editorial solution is plain enough, a set of circumspect mergers into clean WP:SS structure. But the problem is political, not editorial. --dab (𒁳) 10:08, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
